1A faithful saying: if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
1Fidinda estas la diro: Se iu celas episkopecon, tiu deziras bonan laboron.
2It behoveth therefore a bishop to be blameless, the husband of one wife, sober, prudent, of good behaviour, chaste, given to hospitality, a teacher,
2Episkopo do devas esti neriproĉebla, edzo de unu edzino, sobra, moderema, ordema, gastama, instruema,
3Not given to wine, no striker, but modest, not quarrelsome, not covetous, but
3ne vindrinkema, ne batema; sed mildanima, ne disputema, ne monamanto;
4One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all chastity.
4reganta bone sian propran domanaron, tenante siajn gefilojn sub regado kun ĉia seriozeco
5But if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?
5(sed se iu ne scias regi sian propran domon, kiel li zorgos pri la eklezio de Dio?);
6Not a neophyte: lest being puffed up with pride, he fall into the judgment of the devil.
6ne novico, por ke li ne ŝvelu per fiereco kaj ne falu en la kondamnon de la diablo.
7Moreover he must have a good testimony of them who are without: lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
7Krom tio li devas havi bonan ateston de la eksteruloj, por ke li ne falu en riproĉon kaj kaptilon de la diablo.
8Deacons in like manner chaste, not double tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre:
8Tiel same diakonoj devas esti seriozaj, ne duflanke parolantaj, ne tro amantaj vinon, ne avidantaj malhonoran gajnon;
9Holding the mystery of faith in a pure conscience.
9tenantaj la misteron de la fido en pura konscienco.
10And let these also first be proved: and so let them minister, having no crime.
10Kaj tiuj ankaŭ estu unue provitaj; poste ili servu kiel diakonoj, se ili estos neriproĉeblaj.
11The women in like manner chaste, not slanderers, but sober, faithful in all things.
11Virinoj ankaŭ devas esti seriozaj, ne kalumniantoj, sobraj, fidelaj pri ĉio.
12Let deacons be the husbands of one wife: who rule well their children, and their own houses.
12La diakonoj estu edzoj de po unu edzino, regantaj bone siajn gefilojn kaj siajn proprajn domojn.
13For they that have ministered well, shall purchase to themselves a good degree, and much confidence in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
13Ĉar tiuj, kiuj bone servadis kiel diakonoj, akiras al si bonan gradon kaj grandan kuraĝon en la fido, kiu estas en Kristo Jesuo.
14These things I write to thee, hoping that I shall come to thee shortly.
14Ĉi tion mi skribas al vi, esperante veni al vi baldaŭ,
15But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
15sed se mi prokrastos, por ke vi komprenu, kiel oni devas konduti en la domo de Dio, kiu estas la eklezio de la vivanta Dio, la kolono kaj bazo de la vero.
16And evidently great is the mystery of godliness, which was manifested in the flesh, was justified in the spirit, appeared unto angels, hath been preached unto the Gentiles, is believed in the world, is taken up in glory.
16Kaj laŭ konsento, granda estas la mistero de pieco: Tiu, kiu elmontriĝis en la karno, praviĝis en la spirito, estis vidita de anĝeloj, pripredikita ĉe la nacioj, prikredita en la mondo, prenita supren en gloro.
