1Behold what manner of charity the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called, and should be the sons of God. Therefore the world knoweth not us, because it knew not him.
1Смотрите, какую любовь дал нам Отец, чтобы нам называться и быть детьми Божиими. Мир потому не знает нас, что не познал Его.
2Dearly beloved, we are now the sons of God; and it hath not yet appeared what we shall be. We know, that, when he shall appear, we shall be like to him: because we shall see him as he is.
2Возлюбленные! мы теперь дети Божии; но еще не открылось, что будем. Знаем только, что, когда откроется, будем подобны Ему, потому что увидим Его, как Он есть.
3And every one that hath this hope in him, sanctifieth himself, as he also is holy.
3И всякий, имеющий сию надежду на Него, очищает себя так, как Он чист.
4Whosoever committeth sin committeth also iniquity; and sin is iniquity.
4Всякий, делающий грех, делает и беззаконие; и грех есть беззаконие.
5And you know that he appeared to take away our sins, and in him there is no sin.
5И вы знаете, что Он явился для того, чтобы взять грехи наши, и что в Нем нет греха.
6Whosoever abideth in him, sinneth not; and whosoever sinneth, hath not seen him, nor known him.
6Всякий, пребывающий в Нем, не согрешает; всякий согрешающий не видел Его и не познал Его.
7Little children, let no man deceive you. He that doth justice is just, even as he is just.
7Дети! да не обольщает вас никто. Кто делает правду, тот праведен, подобно как Он праведен.
8He that committeth sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God appeared, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
8Кто делает грех, тот от диавола, потому что сначала диавол согрешил. Для сего то и явился Сын Божий, чтобы разрушить дела диавола.
9Whosoever is born of God, committeth not sin: for his seed abideth in him, and he can not sin, because he is born of God.
9Всякий, рожденный от Бога, не делает греха, потому что семя Его пребывает в нем; и он не может грешить, потому что рожден от Бога.
10In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil. Whosoever is not just, is not of God, nor he that loveth not his brother.
10Дети Божии и дети диавола узнаются так: всякий, не делающий правды, не есть от Бога, равно и не любящий брата своего.
11For this is the declaration, which you have heard from the beginning, that you should love one another.
11Ибо таково благовествование, которое вы слышали от начала, чтобы мы любили друг друга,
12Not as Cain, who was of the wicked one, and killed his brother. And wherefore did he kill him? Because his own works were wicked: and his brother’s just.
12не так, как Каин, который был от лукавого и убил брата своего. А за что убил его? За то, что дела его были злы, а дела брата его праведны.
13Wonder not, brethren, if the world hate you.
13Не дивитесь, братия мои, если мир ненавидит вас.
14We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not, abideth in death.
14Мы знаем, что мы перешли из смерти в жизнь, потому что любим братьев; не любящий брата пребывает в смерти.
15Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer. And you know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in himself.
15Всякий, ненавидящий брата своего, есть человекоубийца; а вы знаете, что никакой человекоубийца не имеет жизни вечной, в нем пребывающей.
16In this we have known the charity of God, because he hath laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
16Любовь познали мы в том, что Он положил за нас душу Свою: и мы должны полагать души свои за братьев.
17He that hath the substance of this world, and shall see his brother in need, and shall shut up his bowels from him: how doth the charity of God abide in him?
17А кто имеет достаток в мире, но, видя брата своего в нужде, затворяет от него сердце свое, - как пребывает в том любовь Божия?
18My little children, let us not love in word, nor in tongue, but in deed, and in truth.
18Дети мои! станем любить не словом или языком, но делом и истиною.
19In this we know that we are of the truth: and in his sight shall persuade our hearts.
19И вот, по чему узнаeм, что мы от истины, и успокаиваем пред Ним сердца наши;
20For if our heart reprehend us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
20ибо если сердце наше осуждает нас, то кольми паче Бог, потому что Бог больше сердца нашего и знает все.
21Dearly beloved, if our heart do not reprehend us, we have confidence towards God:
21Возлюбленные! если сердце наше не осуждает нас, то мы имеем дерзновение к Богу
22And whatsoever we shall ask, we shall receive of him: because we keep his commandments, and do those things which are pleasing in his sight.
22и, чего ни попросим, получим от Него, потому что соблюдаем заповеди Его и делаем благоугодное пред Ним.
23And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ: and love one another, as he hath given commandment unto us.
23А заповедь Его та, чтобы мы веровали во имя Сына Его Иисуса Христа и любили друг друга, как Он заповедал нам.
24And he that keepeth his commandments, abideth in him, and he in him. And in this we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
24И кто сохраняет заповеди Его, тот пребывает в Нем, и Он в том. А что Он пребывает в нас, узнаем по духу, который Он дал нам.
