1正月间， 以色列 全会众到了 寻 的旷野，就住在 加低斯 。 米利暗 死在那里，就葬在那里。
1And the children of Israel, and all the multitude came into the desert of Sin, in the first month: and the people abode in Cades. And Mary died there, and was buried in the same place.
2会众没有水喝，就聚集攻击 摩西 、 亚伦 。
2And the people wanting water, came together against Moses and Aaron:
3百姓向 摩西 争闹说：「我们的弟兄曾死在耶和华面前，我们恨不得与他们同死。
3And making a sedition, they said: Would God we had perished among our brethren before the Lord.
4你们为何把耶和华的会众领到这旷野、使我们和牲畜都死在这里呢？
4Why have you brought out the church of the Lord into the wilderness, that both we and our cattle should die?
5你们为何逼着我们出 埃及 、领我们到这坏地方呢？这地方不好撒种，也没有无花果树、葡萄树、石榴树，又没有水喝。」
5Why have you made us come up out of Egypt, and have brought us into this wretched place which cannot be sowed, nor bringeth forth figs, nor vines, nor pomegranates, neither is there any water to drink?
6摩西 、 亚伦 离开会众，到会幕门口，俯伏在地；耶和华的荣光向他们显现。
6And Moses and Aaron leaving the multitude, went into the tabernacle of the covenant, and fell flat upon the ground, and cried to the Lord, and said: O Lord God, hear the cry of this people, and open to them thy treasure, a fountain of living water, that being satisfied, they may cease to murmur. And the glory of the Lord appeared over them.
7耶和华晓谕 摩西 说：
7And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
8「你拿着杖去，和你的哥哥 亚伦 招聚会众，在他们眼前吩咐磐石发出水来，水就从磐石流出，给会众和他们的牲畜喝。」
8Take the rod, and assemble the people together, thou and Aaron thy brother, and speak to the rock before them, and it shall yield waters. And when thou hast brought forth water out of the rock, all the multitude and their cattle shall drink.
9于是 摩西 照耶和华所吩咐的，从耶和华面前取了杖去。
9Moses therefore took the rod, which was before the Lord, as he had commanded him,
10摩西 、 亚伦 就招聚会众到磐石前。 摩西 说：「你们这些背叛的人听我说：我为你们使水从这磐石中流出来吗？」
10And having gathered together the multitude before the rock, he said to them: Hear, ye rebellious and incredulous: Can we bring you forth water out of this rock?
11摩西 举手，用杖击打磐石两下，就有许多水流出来，会众和他们的牲畜都喝了。
11And when Moses had lifted up his hand, and struck the rock twice with the rod, there came forth water in great abundance, so that the people and their cattle drank,
12耶和华对 摩西 、 亚伦 说：「因为你们不信我，不在 以色列 人眼前尊我为圣，所以你们必不得领这会众进我所赐给他们的地去。」
12And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron: Because you have not believed me, to sanctify me before the children of Israel, you shall not bring these people into the land, which I will give them.
13这水名叫 米利巴 水，是因 以色列 人向耶和华争闹，耶和华就在他们面前显为圣。
13This is the Water of contradiction, where the children of Israel strove with words against the Lord, and he was sanctified in them.
14摩西 从 加低斯 差遣使者去见 以东 王，说：「你的弟兄 以色列 人这样说：『我们所遭遇的一切艰难，
14In the mean time Moses sent messengers from Cades to the king of Edom, to say: Thus saith thy brother Israel: Thou knowest all the labour that hath come upon us:
15就是我们的列祖下到 埃及 ，我们在 埃及 久住； 埃及 人恶待我们的列祖和我们，
15In what manner our fathers went down into Egypt, and there we dwelt a long time, and the Egyptians afflicted us and our fathers.
16我们哀求耶和华的时候，他听了我们的声音，差遣使者把我们从 埃及 领出来。这事你都知道。如今，我们在你边界上的城 加低斯 。
16And how we cried to the Lord, and he heard us, and sent an angel, who hath brought us out of Egypt. Lo, we are now in the city of Cades, which is in the uttermost of thy borders,
17求你容我们从你的地经过。我们不走田间和葡萄园，也不喝井里的水，只走大道，不偏左右，直到过了你的境界。』」
17And we beseech thee that we may have leave to pass through thy country. We will not go through the fields, nor through the vineyards, we will not drink the waters of thy wells, but we will go by the common highway, neither turning aside to the right hand, nor to the left, till we are past thy borders.
18以东 王 说：「你不可从我的 地 经过，免得我带刀出去攻击你。」
18And Edom answered them: Thou shalt not pass by me: if thou dost I will come out armed against thee.
19以色列 人说：「我们要走大道上去；我们和牲畜若喝你的水，必给你价值。不求别的，只求你容我们步行过去。」
19And the children of Israel said: We will go by the beaten way: and if we and our cattle drink of thy waters, we will give thee what is just: there shall be no difficulty in the price, only let us pass speedily.
20以东 王 说：「你们不可经过！」就率领许多人出来，要用强硬的手攻击 以色列 人。
20But he answered: Thou shalt not pass. And immediately he came forth to meet them with an infinite multitude, and a strong hand,
21这样， 以东 王 不肯容 以色列 人从他的境界过去。于是他们转去，离开他。
21Neither would he condescend to their desire to grant them passage through his borders. Wherefore Israel turned another way from him.
22以色列 全会众从 加低斯 起行，到了 何珥山 。
22And when they had removed the camp from Cades, they came to mount Her, which is in the borders of the land of Edom:
23耶和华在附近 以东 边界的 何珥山 上晓谕 摩西 、 亚伦 说：
23Where the Lord spoke to Moses:
24「 亚伦 要归到他列祖那里。他必不得入我所赐给 以色列 人的地；因为在 米利巴 水，你们违背了我的命。
24Let Aaron, saith he, go to his people: for he shall not go into the land which I have given the children of Israel, because he was incredulous to my words, at the waters of contradiction.
25你带 亚伦 和他的儿子 以利亚撒 上 何珥山 ，
25Take Aaron and his son with him, and bring them up into mount Hor:
26把 亚伦 的 圣 衣脱下来，给他的儿子 以利亚撒 穿上； 亚伦 必死在那里，归 他列祖 。」
26And when thou hast stripped the father of his vesture, thou shalt vest therewith Eleazar his son: Aaron shall be gathered to his people, and die there.
27摩西 就照耶和华所吩咐的行。三人当着会众的眼前上了 何珥山 。
27Moses did as the Lord had commanded: and they went up into mount Hor before all the multitude.
28摩西 把 亚伦 的 圣 衣脱下来，给他的儿子 以利亚撒 穿上， 亚伦 就死在山顶那里。于是 摩西 和 以利亚撒 下了山。
28And when he had stripped Aaron of his vestments, he vested Eleazar his son with them.
29全会众，就是 以色列 全家，见 亚伦 已经死了，便都为 亚伦 哀哭了三十天。
29And Aaron being dead in the top of the mountain, he came down with Eleazar.

30And all the multitude seeing that Aaron was dead, mourned for him thirty days throughout all their families.
