1提幔 人 以利法 回答说：
1Then Eliphaz the Themanite answered, and said:
2人若想与你说话，你就厌烦吗？ 但谁能忍住不说呢？
2If we begin to speak to thee, perhaps thou wilt take it ill, but who can withhold the words he hath conceived?
3你素来教导许多的人， 又坚固软弱的手。
3Behold thou hast taught many, and thou hast strengthened the weary hands:
4你的言语曾扶助那将要跌倒的人； 你又使软弱的膝稳固。
4Thy words have confirmed them that were staggering, and thou hast strengthened the trembling knees:
5但现在祸患临到你，你就昏迷， 挨近你，你便惊惶。
5But now the scourge is come upon thee, and thou faintest: it hath touched thee, and thou art troubled.
6你的倚靠不是在你敬畏 神 吗？ 你的盼望不是在你行事纯正吗？
6Where is thy fear, thy fortitude, thy patience, and the perfection of thy ways?
7请你追想：无辜的人有谁灭亡？ 正直的人在何处剪除？
7Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished being innocent? or when were the just destroyed?
8按我所见，耕罪孽、种毒害的人 都照样收割。
8On the contrary I have seen those who work iniquity, and sow sorrows, and reap them,
9神一出气，他们就灭亡； 神一发怒，他们就消没。
9Perishing by the blast of God, and consumed by the spirit of his wrath.
10狮子的吼叫和猛狮的声音 尽都止息 ； 少壮狮子的牙齿也都敲掉。
10The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the lioness, and the teeth of the whelps of lions are broken:
11老狮子因绝食而死； 母狮之子也都离散。
11The tiger hath perished for want of prey, and the young lions are scattered abroad.
12我暗暗地得了默示； 我耳朵也听其细微的声音。
12Now there was a word spoken to me in private, and my ears by stealth as it were received the veins of its whisper.
13在思念夜中、异象之间， 世人沉睡的时候，
13In the horror of a vision by night, when deep sleep is wont to hold men,
14恐惧、战兢临到我身， 使我百骨打战。
14Fear seized upon me, and trembling, and all my bones were affrighted:
15有灵从我面前经过， 我身上的毫毛直立。
15And when a spirit passed before me, the hair of my flesh stood up.
16那灵停住， 我却不能辨其形状； 有影像在我眼前。 我在静默中听见有声音 说 ：
16There stood one whose countenance I knew not, an image before my eyes, and I heard the voice as it were of a gentle wind:
17必死的人岂能比 神公义吗？ 人岂能比造他的主洁净吗？
17Shall man be justified in comparison of God, or shall a man be more pure than his maker?
18主不信靠他的臣仆， 并且指他的使者为愚昧；
18Behold they that serve him are not steadfast, and in his angels he found wickedness:
19何况那住在土房、根基在尘土里、 被蠹虫所毁坏的人呢？
19How much more shall they that dwell in houses of clay, who have an earthly foundation, be consumed as with the moth?
20早晚之间，就被毁灭， 永归无有，无人理会。
20From morning till evening they shall be cut down: and because no one understandeth, they shall perish for ever.
21他帐棚的绳索岂不从中抽出来呢？ 他死，且是无智慧而死。
21And they that shall be left, shall be taken away from them: they shall die, and not in wisdom.
