1To prae phakhaih ni thumto pacoengah, Festa loe Caesarea vangpui hoi Jerusalem ah caeh tahang.
1Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days, he went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.
2To naah kalen koek qaima hoi Judah kacoehtanawk mah, Pawl koeh ai ih kawng to a thuih pae o,
2And the chief priests, and principal men of the Jews, went unto him against Paul: and they besought him,
3Pawl to hum hanah loklam ah kaminawk angang o sak boeh pongah, Festa khaeah Pawl kawng to thuih pae o moe, anih to Jerusalem ah patoeh hanah tahmenhaih a hnik o.
3Requesting favour against him, that he would command him to be brought to Jerusalem, laying wait to kill him in the way.
4Festa mah, Pawl loe Caesarea vangpui ah suem oh, akra ai ah kai doeh to ah ka caeh han.
4But Festus answered: That Paul was kept in Caesarea, and that he himself would very shortly depart thither.
5To pongah nangcae thungah ukhaih akaa tawn kaminawk kai hoi nawnto angzo oh, to kami mah zaehaih tawn nahaeloe, anih to zaehaih net oh, tiah a naa.
5Let them, therefore, saith he, among you that are able, go down with me, and accuse him, if there be any crime in the man.
6Nihcae khaeah ni hato a oh pacoengah, Caesarea vangpui ah a caeh tathuk; anih loe khawnbangah lokcaekhaih ahmuen ah anghnut, Pawl to a hma ah hoih hanah lok a paek.
6And having tarried among them no more than eight or ten days, he went down to Caesarea, and the next day he sat in the judgment seat; and commanded Paul to be brought.
7Pawl angzoh naah, Jerusalem hoi angzo tathuk Judah kaminawk mah takui o, Pawl to paroeai zaehaih net o, toe a zaehaih amtueng o sak thai ai.
7Who being brought, the Jews stood about him, who were come down from Jerusalem, objecting many and grievous causes, which they could not prove;
8To pacoengah Pawl mah angmah angvaenghaih lok to thuih, Judahnawk ih daan to ka aek ai, tempul hoi Caesar koeh ai ih hmuen tidoeh ka sah ai, sakpazaehaih tih ta doeh ka tawn ai, tiah a naa.
8Paul making answer for himself: Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar, have I offended in any thing.
9Toe Festa mah Judahnawk koehhaih to sak pae han koeh pongah, Pawl khaeah, Ka hma ah hae loknawk caek hanah Jerusalem ah caeh han na koeh maw? tiah a naa.
9But Festus, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, answering Paul, said: Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
10Pawl mah, Kai lokcaek han om cadoeh, kai loe Caesar lokcaekhaih hma ah ni kang doet han: kahoihah na panoek baktih toengah, Judahnawk nuiah sakpazaekhaih tidoeh ka tawn ai.
10Then Paul said: I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged. To the Jews I have done no injury, as thou very well knowest.
11Kai mah ni duek han khoek to zaehaih ka sak nahaeloe, duek han kang aek mak ai: toe nihcae mah ang net o ih zaehaih loe amsoem ai nahaeloe, kai hae mi mah doeh nihcae khaeah paek han om ai, Caesar khaeah ka caeh han, tiah a naa.
11For if I have injured them, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die. But if there be none of these things whereof they accuse me, no man may deliver me to them: I appeal to Caesar.
12Festa mah, Lokcaek kaminawk hoi angdueng o pacoengah, Caesar khaeah ka caeh han na tih pongah, Caesar khaeah na caeh tih, tiah a naa.
12Then Festus having conferred with the council, answered: Hast thou appealed to Caesar? To Caesar shalt thou go.
13Akra ai naah Agrippa siangpahrang hoi Bernice loe, Festa bansin hanah Caesarea ah caeh hoi.
13And after some days, king Agrippa and Bernice came down to Caesarea to salute Festus.
14Ni paroeai a cam hoi boeh pongah, Festa mah Pawl kawng to siangpahrang khaeah, Haeah Filix mah caehtaak ih thongim krah kami maeto oh, tiah thuih pae:
14And as they tarried there many days, Festus told the king of Paul, saying: A certain man was left prisoner by Felix.
15Jerusalem ah ka caeh naah, kalen koek qaima hoi kacoehtanawk mah, anih kawng to ang thuih o moe, anih to zae net hanah ang hnik o.
15About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests, and the ancients of the Jews, came unto me, desiring condemnation against him.
16Kai mah, Kami maeto loe anih zae net kami hoiah mikhmai ang hnuk moe, a net ih zaehaih to pathim ai ah loe, mi kawbaktih doeh paduek han minawk banah paek hae, Rom kaminawk ih daan na ai ni.
16To whom I answered: It is not the custom of the Romans to condemn any man, before that he who is accused have his accusers present, and have liberty to make his answer, to clear himself of the things laid to his charge.
17To pongah nihcae kai khaeah angzoh o naah akra ai, khawnbangah lokcaekhaih ahmuen ah kang hnut moe, to kami to ka kawksak.
17When therefore they were come hither, without any delay, on the day following, sitting in the judgment seat, I commanded the man to be brought.
18Anih zae net kaminawk angdoet o moe, zae net o naah, hmaloe ah ka poek ih baktiah zae nethaih to om ai:
18Against whom, when the accusers stood up, they brought no accusation of things which I thought ill of:
19angmacae bokhaih bang hoi kasaeng hmuen hoi kadueh tangcae, Jesu loe hing let boeh, tiah Pawl mah thuih pongah, anih to zaehaih net o.
19But had certain questions of their own superstition against him, and of one Jesus deceased, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
20To baktih lok angaekhaihnawk to kawbangmaw ka thuih han, tiah ka panoek ai pongah, lokcaek hanah Jerusalem ah caeh han na koeh maw, tiah lok ka dueng.
20I therefore being in a doubt of this manner of question, asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things.
21Toe Pawl mah Augustus ih lok takroekhaih to a hnik pongah, Caesar khaeah caeh ai na thung anih to kahoihah khetzawn hanah lok ka paek, tiah a naa.
21But Paul appealing to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept, till I might send him to Caesar.
22To naah Agrippa mah Festa khaeah, Anih ih lok to kaimah roe thaih han ka koeh toeng, tiah a naa. To naah anih mah khawnbangah tahngai ah, tiah a naa.
22And Agrippa said to Festus: I would also hear the man, myself. Tomorrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
23Khawnbang phak naah, Agrippa hoi Bernice loe khukbuen amthoep hoi moe, misatuh angraengnawk, avang zaehoikungnawk hoi nawnto lokcaekhaih imthung ah akun, to naah Festa mah Pawl to hoih hanah lokpaek.
23And on the next day, when Agrippa and Bernice were come with great pomp, and had entered into the hall of audience, with the tribunes, and principal men of the city, at Festus’ commandment, Paul was brought forth.
24Festa mah, Agrippa siangpahrang hoi haeah kaom kaminawk boih, hae kami hae khen oh, Jerusalem hoi haeah kaom Judahnawk boih mah, hae kami kawng kai khaeah ang thuih o, hae kami loe hing han om ai, tiah a hang o.
24And Festus saith: King Agrippa, and all ye men who are here present with us, you see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews dealt with me at Jerusalem, requesting and crying out that he ought not to live any longer.
25Anih loe duek han khoek to zaehaih om ai, tito ka panoek, toe anih mah Augustus khaeah caeh han hnik baktih toengah, anih to nang khae patoeh hanah lok ka khaeh.
25Yet have I found nothing that he hath committed worthy of death. But forasmuch as he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.
26Toe anih kawng hae kaimah ih siangpahrang khaeah ka tarik pae ai vop. Anih lok na caek o pacoengah ni, ca ka tarik thai vop tih. To pongah nangcae hma hoi siangpahrang Agrippa hma ah, anih to kang hoih o.
26Of whom I have nothing certain to write to my lord. For which cause I have brought him forth before you, and especially before thee, O king Agrippa, that examination being made, I may have what to write.
27Thongim krah kami maeto zae nethaih om ai ah prae ukkung khaeah patoeh han om ai, tiah poekhaih ka tawnh, tiah a naa.
27For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not to signify the things laid to his charge.
