Douay-Rheims Bible, American Edition (1899)
1To pacoengah Agrippa mah Pawl khaeah, Vaihi loe nangmah kawng na thuih thai boeh, tiah a naa. To naah Pawl mah ban payangh moe, lokthuih:
1Then Agrippa said to Paul: Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretching forth his hand, began to make his answer.
2Agrippa siangpahrang, Judahnawk mah zae ang net o haih kawng thuih hanah vaihni na hma ah kang doet thai pongah kawnh parai:
2I think myself happy, O king Agrippa, that I am to answer for myself this day before thee, touching all the things whereof I am accused by the Jews.
3Judahnawk khosakhaih dan hoi lokduenghaihnawk to na panoek pongah, ka thuih ih lok hae palungsawkhaih hoiah nang tahngaih pae hanah tahmenhaih kang hnik.
3Especially as thou knowest all, both customs and questions that are among the Jews: Wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.
4Kai loe nawkta nathuem hoi Jerusalem vangpui ah kaimah ih acaeng salakah kawbangmaw khosak, tito Judahnawk boih mah ang panoek o;
4And my life indeed from my youth, which was from the beginning among my own nation in Jerusalem, all the Jews do know:
5nihcae mah thuih han koeh o nahaeloe, kai loe bokhaih bangah kacip koek, Farasi kami maeto ah ka oh, tiah ang thuih o thaih, nihcae mah kai hae tangsuek na hoiah ang panoek o boeh.
5Having known me from the beginning (if they will give testimony) that according to the most sure sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.
6Sithaw mah kam panawk khaeah sak ih lokkamhaih nuiah oephaih ka tawnh pongah, vaihi lokcaekhaih ka tongh:
6And now for the hope of the promise that was made by God to the fathers, do I stand subject to judgment:
7to lokkamhaih loe akoep tih, tiah oephaih tawnh o pongah, acaeng hatlai hnettonawk mah aqum athun Sithaw tok to sak o. Siangpahrang Agrippa, to oephaih pongah ni Judahnawk mah kai zaehaih ang net o.
7Unto which, our twelve tribes, serving night and day, hope to come. For which hope, O king, I am accused by the Jews.
8Tipongah Sithaw mah kadueh kaminawk pathawk let tih, tiah thuih ih lok loe tang han om ai, tiah na poek o loe?
8Why should it be thought a thing incredible, that God should raise the dead?
9Kai doeh Nazareth Jesu ih ahmin to aek hanah sak thaih thung toksak han angaih, tiah ka poek vaih.
9And I indeed did formerly think, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
10To baktih hmuen to Jerusalem vangpui ah ka sak boeh; kalen koek qaima ih sakthaihaih akaa to ka patoh moe, pop parai kaciim kaminawk to thongim ka pakhrak, nihcae to a hum o naah, dueksak hanah palung ka due haih.
10Which also I did at Jerusalem, and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority of the chief priests: and when they were put to death, I brought the sentence.
11Nihcae hraem hanah sineko maeto pacoeng maeto ah ka caeh, nihcae han Sithaw ih ahmin kasae ka thuisak nganga; nihcae nuiah palung ka phui hmoek pongah, nihcae pacaekthlaek hanah kalah vangpuinawk khoek to ka caeh.
11And oftentimes punishing them, in every synagogue, I compelled them to blaspheme: and being yet more mad against them, I persecuted them even unto foreign cities.
12To tiah ka sak naah, kalen koek qaima khae hoi ih sakthaihaih to ka lak moe, Damaska vangpui ah ka caeh.
12Whereupon when I was going to Damascus with authority and permission of the chief priest,
13Athun naah loe, Aw siangpahrang, loklam ka caeh li naah, van hoiah aanghaih to ka hnuk, to aanghaih loe ni pongah aang kue, to aanghaih mah kai hoi nawnto kholong caeh kaminawk to toeh phaeng.
13At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me, and them that were in company with me.
14And when we were all fallen down on the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me in the Hebrew tongue: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? It is hard for thee to kick against the goad.
15To naah kai mah, Angraeng, nang loe mi aa? tiah ka naa. To naah anih mah, Kai loe nang pacaekthlaek ih Jesu ni.
15And I said: Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord answered: I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
16Toe vaihi angthawk ah loe angdoe ah: na hnuk tangcae hmuennawk hoi kang patuek han ih hmuennawk hnukung ah na oh moe, toksah kami maeto ah kang ohsak hanah, nang khaeah kam tueng boeh;
16But rise up, and stand upon thy feet: for to this end have I appeared to thee, that I may make thee a minister, and a witness of those things which thou hast seen, and of those things wherein I will appear to thee,
17nangmacae kami hoi Gentel kaminawk salak hoiah kang pahlong han,
17Delivering thee from the people, and from the nations, unto which now I send thee:
18nihcae mik amtuengsak moe, khoving thung hoi aanghaih thungah amlaemsak hanah, Setan thacakhaih thung hoiah Sithaw khaeah amlaemsak moe, zae tahmenhaih a hnuk o pacoengah, kai tanghaih hoiah ciimhaih hnu tangcae kaminawk salakah qawk a toep o thai hanah, vaihi nihcae khaeah kang patoeh boeh.
18To open their eyes, that they may be converted from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and a lot among the saints, by the faith that is in me.
19To pongah siangpahrang Agrippa, van hoiah ang hnuksak ih hmuen to ka aek ai:
19Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not incredulous to the heavenly vision:
20tangsuek naah Damaska vangpui ah kaom kaminawk, Jerusalem kaminawk, Judea kaminawk boih khae khue ai, Gentelnawk khaeah doeh dawnpakhuem o moe, Sithaw khaeah amlaem o pacoengah, dawnpakhuemhaih amtueng o sak hanah, lok ka thuih pae.
20But to them first that are at Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and unto all the country of Judea, and to the Gentiles did I preach, that they should do penance, and turn to God, doing works worthy of penance.
21Hae pongah Judahnawk mah tempul thungah kai ang naeh o moe, kai hum hanah pacaeng o.
21For this cause the Jews, when I was in the temple, having apprehended me, went about to kill me.
22To pongah Sithaw mah ang bomh, vaihni ni khoek to kathoeng kalen kaminawk hma ah lokthuih hanah kang doet, Mosi hoi tahmaanawk mah angzo han koi thuicoek ih lok laep ah, kalah lok tita doeh ka thui ai:
22But being aided by the help of God, I stand unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other thing than those which the prophets, and Moses did say should come to pass:
23Kri loe patangkhang tih, Anih loe kadueh kaminawk thung hoi angthawk hmaloe Kami ah om ueloe, angmah kaminawk hoi Gentelnawk khaeah aanghaih lok to thui tih, tiah kaom lok to ni ka thuih, tiah a naa.
23That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light to the people, and to the Gentiles.
24Angmah angvaenghaih lok Pawl mah thuih li naah, Festa mah hangh thuih moe, lok to pakha pae ving, Pawl, Na poekhaih amkhraeng ving boeh; kasangah nam tukhaih mah amthusak boeh, tiah a naa.
24As he spoke these things, and made his answer, Festus said with a loud voice: Paul, thou art beside thyself: much learning doth make thee mad.
25Toe Pawl mah, Kahoih koek Festa, Kam thu ai; loktang lok hoi angcoeng thaih lok to ni ka thuih, tiah a naa.
25And Paul said: I am not mad, most excellent Festus, but I speak words of truth and soberness.
26Siangpahrang mah hae hmuen kawngnawk hae panoek, to pongah anih hma ah kamtueng ah lok ka thuih: hae hmuennawk loe takii taket ah tamquta hoi sak ih hmuen na ai ni, anih mah panoek ai ih hmuen tidoeh om ai, tito ka panoek, tiah a naa.
26For the king knoweth of these things, to whom also I speak with confidence. For I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him. For neither was any of these things done in a corner.
27Agrippa siangpahrang, Tahmaanawk to na tang maw? Na tang, tiah ka panoek, tiah a naa.
27Believest thou the prophets, O king Agrippa? I know that thou believest.
28To naah Agrippa mah Pawl khaeah, Nang pacaehaih mah kricaa ah ka oh duih boeh, tiah a naa.
28And Agrippa said to Paul: In a little thou persuadest me to become a Christian.
29Pawl mah, nang khue na ai, vaihniah kai ih lok thaih kaminawk boih, hae tiah ang naeh o haih kawng hae thui ai ah, kai baktiah na oh o duih han ih khue ai, na oh o thai boih hanah, Sithaw khaeah lawk ka thuih, tiah a naa.
29And Paul said: I would to God, that both in a little and in much, not only thou, but also all that hear me, this day, should become such as I also am, except these bands.
30To tiah lok a thuih pacoengah, siangpahrang loe angthawk tahang, to naah prae ukkung, Bernice hoi to ahmuen ah nihcae hoi nawnto anghnu kaminawk doeh angthawk o boih.
30And the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them.
31Nihcae ahmuen kalah bang caeh o pacoengah, Hae kami loe thongim pakrak moe, paduek han khoek to hmuen tidoeh sah ai, tiah maeto hoi maeto a thuih o.
31And when they were gone aside, they spoke among themselves, saying: This man hath done nothing worthy of death or of bands.
32Agrippa mah Festa khaeah, Caesar khaeah caeh han hni ai nahaeloe, hae kami hae prawt han oh boeh, tiah a naa.
32And Agrippa said to Festus: This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed to Caesar.
