1When I heal Israel, the iniquity of Ephraim will be exposed, as well as the crimes of Samaria. For they practice deceit and thieves break in; bandits raid in the streets.
1Коли я почав лїчити-оздоровляти Ізраїля, виявилась неправедність Ефраїмова й лиходїйство Самариї; і ось, влазить злодїй, а розбишака рабує по улицях.
2But they fail to consider in their hearts that I remember all their evil. Now their deeds are all around them; they are before My face.
2Вони й не здогадуються в серцях своїх, що я про їх ледарство знаю; і так тепер намножились і обгорнули їх ледарства їх, а всї вони перед лицем у мене.
3They delight the king with their evil, and the princes with their lies.
3Лиходїйством своїм звеселяють вони царя, оманами своїми — князїв.
4They are all adulterers, like an oven heated by a baker who needs not stoke the fire from the kneading to the rising of the dough.
4Всї вони палають перелюбством, як піч, розпалена пекарем, що не підкладує дров, як замісить тїсто й воно вкисне.
5The princes are inflamed with wine on the day of our king; so he joins hands with those who mock him.
5День царський у нас! князї розгорячились до впаду вином, а царь простягає руку свою до висьмівників.
6For they prepare their heart like an oven while they lie in wait; all night their anger smolders; in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire.
6Зрада запалює їх серце, як піч; пекарь їх спить всю ніч, а вранцї горить вона палаючим огнем.
7All of them are hot as an oven, and they devour their rulers. All their kings fall; not one of them calls upon Me.
7Всї вони, мов ті розпалені печі, палають; та й своїх суддїв глитають; падає царь за царем, не озвавшись до мене.
8Ephraim mixes with the nations; Ephraim is an unturned cake.
8Ефраїм перемішався з народами чужими; Ефраїм, мов паляниця, не обертана (на жару), спалився.
9Foreigners consume his strength, but he does not notice. Even his hair is streaked with gray, but he does not know.
9Поїдають його силу чужоземцї, а йому про те й байдуже, вже посивіло й волоссє, він же й не бачить.
10Israel’s arrogance testifies against them, yet they do not return to the LORD their God; despite all this, they do not seek Him.
10Гордощі Ізраїля понизені в їх таки очах, а таки вони не обернулись до Господа, Бога свого й не шукали його.
11So Ephraim has become like a silly, senseless dove— calling out to Egypt, then turning to Assyria.
11Ефраїм — немов той голуб безглуздий; кличе Египтян, ійде в Ассирию.
12As they go, I will spread My net over them; I will bring them down like birds of the air. I will chastise them when I hear them flocking together.
12Та коли вони туди пійдуть, закину я на них сїть мою; мов те птаство піднебесне, я їх половлю-повалю, та й скараю, як се чула їх громада.
13Woe to them, for they have strayed from Me! Destruction to them, for they have rebelled against Me! Though I would redeem them, they speak lies against Me.
13Горе їм, що вони відхилились зпід руки моєї; загибок їм, що так зрадливо відцурались від мене! Я рятував їх, вони ж неправду говорили проти мене.
14They do not cry out to Me from their hearts when they wail upon their beds. They slash themselves for grain and new wine, but turn away from Me.
14Не обертались усїм серцем своїм до мене, коли голосили на постелях своїх; горнуться до хлїба й вина, а від мене далеко відходять.
15Although I trained and strengthened their arms, they plot evil against Me.
15Я навчав їх, скріпляв у них руки, а вони придумували ворохобню проти мене.
16They turn, but not to the Most High; they are like a faulty bow. Their leaders will fall by the sword for the cursing of their tongue; for this they will be ridiculed in the land of Egypt.
16Вони обертались, та не до Всевишнього, поробились — як той лук несправний; поляжуть від меча князї їх за язик свій гордий; се буде насьміхом над ними в землї Египецькій.
