1When I heal Israel, the iniquity of Ephraim will be exposed, as well as the crimes of Samaria. For they practice deceit and thieves break in; bandits raid in the streets.
1私がイスラエルを癒そうとする時、 エフライムの不義と、 サマリアの悪があらわになる。 彼らは偽りを行い、 盗人は中に入り、 盗賊の群れは外で略奪する。
2But they fail to consider in their hearts that I remember all their evil. Now their deeds are all around them; they are before My face.
2彼らは、私がそのすべての悪を覚えていることを、 心に留めない。 今や彼らの悪行が彼らを取り囲み、 私の目の前にある。
3They delight the king with their evil, and the princes with their lies.
3彼らは悪によって王を喜ばせ、 偽りによって君主たちを喜ばせる。
4They are all adulterers, like an oven heated by a baker who needs not stoke the fire from the kneading to the rising of the dough.
4彼らは皆、姦淫を行う者だ。 パン職人が生地をこねてから発酵するまで、 火をかき立てなくても燃え続ける炉のようだ。
5The princes are inflamed with wine on the day of our king; so he joins hands with those who mock him.
5われわれの王の祝いの日に、 君主たちはぶどう酒の熱で身を病ませた。 王はあざける者たちと手を組んだ。
6For they prepare their heart like an oven while they lie in wait; all night their anger smolders; in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire.
6彼らは待ち伏せする間、 心を炉のように熱くする。 彼らの怒りは一晩中くすぶり、 朝には燃え盛る火となる。
7All of them are hot as an oven, and they devour their rulers. All their kings fall; not one of them calls upon Me.
7彼らは皆、炉のように熱くなり、 自分たちの裁き人を食い尽くす。 彼らの王は皆、倒れた。 彼らの中には、私を呼び求める者が一人もいない。
8Ephraim mixes with the nations; Ephraim is an unturned cake.
8エフライムは諸国民の中に混じっている。 エフライムは焼き返されていない平焼きパンだ。
9Foreigners consume his strength, but he does not notice. Even his hair is streaked with gray, but he does not know.
9よその者たちが彼の力を食い尽くしたが、 彼はそれに気づかない。 白髪がところどころに生えても、 彼はそれに気づかない。
10Israel’s arrogance testifies against them, yet they do not return to the LORD their God; despite all this, they do not seek Him.
10イスラエルの高慢が、 イスラエル自身を告発する。 それでも彼らは、自分たちの神、主に立ち返らず、 このすべてがあっても、主を求めない。
11So Ephraim has become like a silly, senseless dove— calling out to Egypt, then turning to Assyria.
11エフライムは思慮がなく、 たやすく欺かれる鳩のようだ。 彼らはエジプトに呼びかけ、 アッシリアへ行く。
12As they go, I will spread My net over them; I will bring them down like birds of the air. I will chastise them when I hear them flocking together.
12彼らが行く時、私はその上に網を広げ、 空の鳥のように彼らを引き下ろす。 彼らの集会に告げたとおり、彼らを懲らしめる。
13Woe to them, for they have strayed from Me! Destruction to them, for they have rebelled against Me! Though I would redeem them, they speak lies against Me.
13彼らには災いがある。 彼らは私から離れ去ったからだ。 彼らには滅びがある。 私に背いたからだ。 私は彼らを贖おうとするのに、 彼らは私に逆らって偽りを語る。
14They do not cry out to Me from their hearts when they wail upon their beds. They slash themselves for grain and new wine, but turn away from Me.
14彼らは心から私に叫ばず、 寝床の上で泣きわめく。 穀物と新しいぶどう酒を求めて集まり、 私から離れて行く。
15Although I trained and strengthened their arms, they plot evil against Me.
15私が彼らの腕を鍛え、強くしたのに、 彼らは私に対して悪を企てる。
16They turn, but not to the Most High; they are like a faulty bow. Their leaders will fall by the sword for the cursing of their tongue; for this they will be ridiculed in the land of Egypt.
16彼らは立ち返るが、いと高き方には立ち返らない。 彼らは狙いの定まらない弓のようだ。 彼らの君主たちは、 舌の激しさのゆえに剣に倒れる。 彼らはエジプトの地で、あざけりの的となる。」
