1If any of you has a grievance against another, how dare he go to law before the unrighteous instead of before the saints!
1Anathubutuje mmoja wenu kumshtaki ndugu muumini mbele ya mahakama ya watu wasiomjua Mungu badala ya kumshtaki mbele ya watu wa Mungu?
2Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?
2Je, hamjui kwamba watu wa Mungu watauhukumu ulimwengu? Ikiwa basi, ulimwengu utahukumiwa nanyi, kwa nini hamstahili kuhukumu hata katika mambo madogo?
3Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!
3Je, hamjui kwamba, licha ya kuhukumu mambo ya kawaida ya kila siku, tutawahukumu hata malaika?
4So if you need to settle everyday matters, do you appoint as judges those of no standing in the church?
4Mnapokuwa na mizozo juu ya mambo ya kawaida, je, mnawaita wawe mahakimu watu ambao hata hawalijali kanisa?
5I say this to your shame. Is there really no one among you wise enough to arbitrate between his brothers?
5Aibu kwenu! Ndiyo kusema hakuna hata mmoja miongoni mwenu mwenye hekima kiasi cha kuweza kutatua tatizo kati ya ndugu waumini?
6Instead, one brother goes to law against another, and this in front of unbelievers!
6Badala yake, kweli imekuwa mtindo ndugu kumpeleka ndugu yake mahakamani, tena mbele ya mahakimu wasioamini.
7The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means that you are thoroughly defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?
7Kwa kweli huko kushtakiana tu wenyewe kwa wenyewe kwabainisha kwamba mmeshindwa kabisa! Je, haingekuwa jambo bora zaidi kwenu kudhulumiwa! Haingekuwa bora zaidi kwenu kunyang'anywa mali yenu?
8Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, even against your own brothers!
8Lakini, badala yake, ninyi ndio mnaodhulumu na kunyang'anya; tena, hayo mnawafanyia ndugu zenu!
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who submit to or perform homosexual acts,
9Au je, hamjui kwamba watu wabaya hawataurithi Utawala wa Mungu? Msijidanganye! Watu wanaoishi maisha ya uasherati, wanaoabudu sanamu, wazinzi, au walawiti,
10nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
10wevi, wachoyo, walevi, wasengenyaji, wanyang'anyi, hao wote hawatashiriki Utawala wa Mungu.
11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
11Baadhi yenu mlikuwa hivyo; lakini sasa mmeoshwa, mkafanywa watakatifu, na kupatanishwa na Mungu kwa jina la Bwana Yesu Kristo na kwa Roho wa Mungu wetu.
12“Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be mastered by anything.
12Mtu anaweza kusema: “Kwangu mimi kila kitu ni halali.” Sawa; lakini si kila kitu kinafaa. Nakubali kwamba kila kitu ni halali kwangu lakini sitaki kutawaliwa na kitu chochote.
13“Food for the stomach and the stomach for food,” but God will destroy them both. The body is not intended for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
13Unaweza kusema: “Chakula ni kwa ajili ya tumbo, na tumbo ni kwa ajili ya chakula.” Sawa; lakini Mungu ataviharibu vyote viwili. Mwili wa mtu si kwa ajili ya uzinzi bali ni kwa ajili ya kumtumikia Bwana, naye Bwana ni kwa ajili ya mwili.
14By His power God raised the Lord from the dead, and He will raise us also.
14Basi, Mungu aliyemfufua Bwana kutoka wafu atatufufua nasi pia kwa nguvu yake.
15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!
15Je, hamjui kwamba miili yenu ni viungo vya mwili wa Kristo? Je, mnadhani naweza kuchukua sehemu ya mwili wa Kristo na kuifanya kuwa sehemu ya mwili wa kahaba? Hata kidogo!
16Or don’t you know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”
16Maana, kama mjuavyo, anayeungana na kahaba huwa mwili mmoja naye—kama ilivyoandikwa: “Nao wawili watakuwa mwili mmoja.”
17But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with Him in spirit.
17Lakini aliyejiunga na Bwana huwa roho moja naye.
18Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a man can commit is outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
18Jiepusheni kabisa na uzinzi. Dhambi nyingine zote hutendwa nje ya mwili lakini mzinzi hutenda dhambi dhidi ya mwili wake mwenyewe.
19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
19Je, hamjui kwamba miili yenu ni hekalu la Roho Mtakatifu aliye ndani yenu, ambaye mlimpokea kutoka kwa Mungu? Ninyi basi, si mali yenu wenyewe.
20you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body.
20Mlinunuliwa kwa bei kubwa. Kwa hiyo, itumieni miili yenu kwa ajili ya kumtukuza Mungu.
