1Kapau naʻe ʻikai kau ʻa Sihova mo kitautolu, ʻoku totonu ke lea ni ʻa ʻIsileli;
1If the LORD had not been on our side— let Israel now declare—
2“Kapau naʻe ʻikai kau ʻa Sihova mo kitautolu, ʻi he tuʻu hake ʻae kakai kiate kitautolu:
2if the LORD had not been on our side when men attacked us,
3Pehē, kuo nau folo hifo leva ʻakitautolu, ʻi he tupu ʻenau ʻita kiate kitautolu;
3when their anger flared against us, then they would have swallowed us alive,
4Pehē, kuo lōfia ʻakitautolu ʻe he ngaahi vai, kuo tafe ʻae vaitafe ʻi he funga ʻo hotau laumālie:
4then the floods would have engulfed us, then the torrent would have overwhelmed us,
5Pea ʻalu ʻae ngaahi vai ʻoe laukau ʻi he funga ʻo hotau laumālie.”
5then the raging waters would have swept us away.
6Fakafetaʻi kia Sihova, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai te ne tukuange ʻakitautolu ko e meʻakai ki honau nifo.
6Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
7Kuo hao hotau laumālie ʻo hangē ko e manupuna mei he hele ʻae tangata tauhele: kuo maumauʻi ʻae tauhele, pea kuo tau hao ai.
7We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowler; the net is torn, and we have slipped away.
8Ko hotau tokoni ʻoku ʻi he huafa ʻo Sihova, ʻaia naʻa ne ngaohi ʻae langi mo māmani.
8Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
