1Ke malaʻia ʻa koe ʻoku ke fakamālohi, ka naʻe ʻikai fakamālohiʻi koe; ʻa koe ʻoku fai kākā, ka naʻe ʻikai ke kākaaʻi koe! ʻOka ke ka tuku hoʻo fakamālohi, ʻe toki fakamālohiʻi koe; pea ka ʻosi hoʻo fai kākā, ʻe toki kākaaʻi koe.
1Woe to thee that spoilest, shalt not thou thyself also be spoiled? and thou that despisest, shalt not thyself also be despised? when thou shalt have made an end of spoiling, thou shalt be spoiled: when being wearied thou shalt cease to despise, thou shalt be despised.
2ʻE Sihova, ke ke ʻaloʻofa kiate kimautolu; kuo mau tatali kiate koe: ke ke hoko ko homau mālohi ʻi he pongipongi kotoa pē, ʻio, ko homau fakamoʻui ʻi he kuonga ʻoe mamahi.
2O Lord, have mercy on us: for we have waited for thee: be thou our arm in the morning, and our salvation in the time of trouble.
3ʻI he longoaʻa ʻoe tokolahi naʻe hola ʻae kakai; ʻi hoʻo tuʻu hake ʻaʻau, naʻe veteki ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga.
3At the voice of the angel the people fled, and at the lifting up thyself the nations are scattered.
4Ka e tānaki hoʻomou koloa ʻoe vete ʻo hangē ko e tānaki ʻe he ʻunufe: ʻo hangē ko e fehōpoaki ʻoe ngaahi heʻe te ne lele kiate kinautolu.
4And your spoils shall be gathered together as the locusts are gathered, as when the ditches are full of them.
5Kuo hiki hake ʻa Sihova; he kuo ʻafio ia ʻi ʻolunga: kuo ne fakafonu ʻa Saione ʻaki ʻae fakamaau mo e angatonu.
5The Lord is magnified, for he hath dwelt on high: he hath filled Sion with judgment and justice.
6Pea ʻe hoko ʻae poto mo e ʻilo ko e mālohi ʻo ho kuonga, mo e mālohi ʻoe fakamoʻui: ko e manavahē kia Sihova ko ʻene koloa ia.
6And there shall be faith in thy times: riches of salvation, wisdom and knowledge: the fear of the Lord is his treasure.
7Vakai, ko ʻenau kau toʻa, ʻe tangi ʻituʻa: ʻe tangi mamahi ʻae kau faifekau ʻoe melino.
7Behold they that see shall cry without, the angels of peace shall weep bitterly.
8The ways are made desolate, no one passeth by the road, the covenant is made void, he hath rejected the cities, he hath not regarded the men.
9ʻOku mamahi ʻae fonua pea vaivai: kuo mā ʻa Lepanoni, kuo tā hifo ia: ʻoku tatau mo e potu vao ʻa Saloni; pea ʻoku fakangangana ʻae ngaahi fua ʻo Pesani mo Kameli.
9The land hath mourned, and languished: Libanus is confounded and become foul, and Saron is become as a desert: and Basan and Carmel are shaken.
10ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “te u tuʻu hake ni: te u hiki hake ni au ki ʻolunga, pea ʻe hakeakiʻi ni au.
10Now will I rise up, saith the Lord: now will I be exalted, now will I lift up myself.
11Te mou tuituʻia ko e kafukafu, te mou fanauʻi ko e veve: ko hoʻomou mānava, ʻo hangē ko e afi, te ne fakaʻauha ʻakimoutolu.
11You shall conceive heat, you shall bring forth stubble: your breath as fire shall devour you.
12Pea ʻe tutu ʻae kakai ʻo hangē ko e vela ʻoe lahe: ʻo hangē ko e ʻakau talatala kuo tutuʻu ke vela ʻi he afi.
12And the people shall be as ashes after a fire, as a bundle of thorns they shall be burnt with fire.
13Fanongo, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku mamaʻo, ki he meʻa kuo u fai; pea ʻilo mo kimoutolu ʻoku ofi, ki hoku mālohi.”
13Hear, you that are far off, what I have done, and you that are near know my strength.
14ʻOku manavahē ʻae kau angahala ʻi Saione; kuo pukea ʻi he ilifia ʻae kau mālualoi. “Ko hai ʻiate kitautolu ʻe nofo ʻi he afi fakaʻauha? Ko hai ʻiate kitautolu ʻe nofo ʻi he vela taʻengata?”
14The sinners in Sion are afraid, trembling hath seized upon the hypocrites. Which of you can dwell with devouring fire? which of you shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
15Ko ia ʻoku ʻeveʻeva ʻi he māʻoniʻoni, mo lea totonu; ko ia ʻoku fehiʻa ki he koloa ʻoe fakamālohi, ʻoku tupeʻi hono nima mei he puke ʻae koloa ʻoku maʻu taʻetotonu, ʻoku tāpuni hono telinga mei he fanongo ki he toto, pea fakamohe hono mata ke ʻoua naʻa mamata ki he kovi;
15He that walketh in justices, and speaketh truth, that casteth away avarice by oppression, and shaketh his hands from all bribes, that stoppeth his ears lest he hear blood, and shutteth his eyes that he may see no evil.
16ʻE nofo ia ʻi he māʻolunga: ko hono potu ungaʻanga ko e ngaahi kolo maka māʻolunga: ʻe foaki kiate ia ʻae mā; pea te ne maʻu moʻoni ʻe ia ʻene vai.
16He shall dwell on high, the fortifications of rocks shall be his highness: bread is given him, his waters are sure.
17ʻE mamata ho mata ki he tuli ʻi hono nāunau: ʻe sio ia ki he fonua ʻaia ʻoku mamaʻo atu.
17His eyes shall see the king in his beauty, they shall see the land far off.
18ʻE fakalaulauloto ʻa ho loto ki he ilifia. Kofaʻā ʻae tangata tohi? Kofaʻā ia ʻae tangata fakamamafa meʻa? Kofaʻā ia naʻe lau ʻae ngaahi fale māʻolunga?
18Thy heart shall meditate fear: where is the learned? where is he that pondereth the words of the law? where is the teacher of little ones?
19ʻE ʻikai te ke mamata ki he kakai ʻoku lili, ha kakai ʻoe lea ʻilongataʻa ʻoku ʻikai te ke faʻa ongoʻi; ʻo ha ʻelelo leʻo vale, ʻoku ʻikai te ke faʻa ʻilo.
19The shameless people thou shalt not see, the people of profound speech: so that thou canst not understand the eloquence of his tongue, in whom there is no wisdom.
20Look upon Sion the city of our solemnity: thy eyes shall see Jerusalem, a rich habitation, a tabernacle that cannot be removed: neither shall the nails thereof be taken away for ever, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken:
21Ka e ʻiate kitautolu ʻa Sihova nāunauʻia, ko e potu ʻoe ngaahi vaitafe laulahi mo e ngaahi mangamangaʻi vai; ʻaia ʻe ʻikai ʻalu ʻi ai ha vakafokotuʻu mo e ngaahi fohe, pea ʻe ʻikai ʻalu ʻi ai ha vaka lahi.
21Because only there our Lord is magnificent: it place of rivers, very broad and spacious streams: no ship with oars shall pass by it, neither shall the great galley pass through it.
22He ko Sihova ko hotau fakamaau, ko Sihova ko hotau fai fono, ko Sihova ko hotau tuʻi; te ne fakamoʻui ʻakitautolu.
22For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king: he will save us.
23Kuo tukuange hoʻo ngaahi maea; naʻe ʻikai te nau fakatuʻumaʻu honau fanā, naʻe ʻikai te nau faʻa fofola ʻae lā: ʻi he kuonga ko ia ʻe tufa ʻae koloa lahi, ʻe ʻave ʻe he ketu ʻae koloa ʻi he vete.
23Thy tacklings are loosed, and they shall be of no strength: thy mast shall be in such condition, that thou shalt not be able to spread the flag. Then shall the spoils of much prey be divided: the lame shall take the spoil.
24Pea ʻe ʻikai pehē ʻe kinautolu ʻoku nofo ai, “ʻOku ou mahaki:” ʻe fakamolemole ʻae hia ʻokinautolu ʻoku nofo ai.
24Neither shall he that is near, say: I am feeble. The people that dwell therein, shall have their iniquity taken away from them.
