1วันที่ยี่สิบเอ็ด เดือนที่เจ็ด พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวผ่านฮักกัยผู้ประกาศสารจากพระเจ้าว่า
1On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet, saying:
2“ตอนนี้จงพูดกับเศรุบบาเบลบุตรเชอัลทิเอล ผู้ว่าการยูดาห์ กับโยชูวาบุตรเยโฮซาดัก หัวหน้าปุโรหิต และกับประชาชนที่เหลืออยู่ว่า
2“Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and also to the remnant of the people. Ask them,
3‘ในหมู่พวกคุณยังเหลือใครที่เคยเห็นพระวิหารนี้ในเกียรติรุ่งเรืองครั้งก่อน? ตอนนี้พวกคุณเห็นพระวิหารนี้เป็นอย่างไร? ในสายตาพวกคุณก็เหมือนไม่มีอะไรเลยไม่ใช่หรือ?
3‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not appear to you like nothing in comparison?’
4แต่ตอนนี้ เศรุบบาเบล จงเข้มแข็ง’ พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว ‘โยชูวาบุตรเยโฮซาดัก หัวหน้าปุโรหิต จงเข้มแข็ง ประชาชนทั้งแผ่นดิน จงเข้มแข็ง’ พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว ‘จงลงมือทำงาน เพราะเราอยู่กับพวกคุณ’ พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว
4But now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the LORD. Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strong, all you people of the land, declares the LORD. Work! For I am with you, declares the LORD of Hosts.
5นี่คือถ้อยคำที่เราให้คำมั่นสัญญาไว้กับพวกคุณ เมื่อพวกคุณออกจากอียิปต์ และพระวิญญาณของเราอาศัยอยู่ท่ามกลางพวกคุณ ‘อย่ากลัว’
5This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt. And My Spirit remains among you; do not be afraid.”
6เพราะพระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าวดังนี้ ‘อีกครั้งหนึ่ง อีกไม่นาน เราจะเขย่าฟ้าสวรรค์ แผ่นดินโลก ทะเล และแผ่นดินแห้ง
6For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.
7จะเขย่าทุกชาติ ทรัพย์สมบัติของทุกชาติจะมาถึง เราจะเติมพระวิหารนี้ให้เต็มด้วยเกียรติรุ่งเรือง’ พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว
7I will shake all the nations, and they will come with all their treasures, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of Hosts.
8‘เงินเป็นของเรา ทองเป็นของเรา’ พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว
8The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, declares the LORD of Hosts.
9‘เกียรติรุ่งเรืองครั้งหลังของพระวิหารนี้จะยิ่งใหญ่กว่าครั้งก่อน’ พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว ‘และในที่นี้เราจะให้สันติสุข’ พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว”
9The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will provide peace, declares the LORD of Hosts.”

10On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Haggai the prophet, saying,
11“พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว จงถามปุโรหิตเรื่องบทบัญญัติว่า
11“This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Ask the priests for a ruling.
12‘ถ้าใครพกเนื้อศักดิ์สิทธิ์ไว้ในชายเสื้อที่พับไว้ และใช้ชายเสื้อที่พับไว้นั้นแตะขนมปัง อาหารตุ๋น เหล้าองุ่น น้ำมัน หรืออาหารใด ๆ สิ่งนั้นจะศักดิ์สิทธิ์ไหม?’” ปุโรหิตตอบว่า “ไม่ศักดิ์สิทธิ์”
12If a man carries consecrated meat in the fold of his garment, and it touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any other food, does that item become holy?’” “No,” replied the priests.
13ฮักกัยจึงถามว่า “ถ้าคนที่เป็นมลทินเพราะศพไปแตะสิ่งเหล่านี้อย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง สิ่งนั้นจะเป็นมลทินไหม?” ปุโรหิตตอบว่า “จะเป็นมลทิน”
13So Haggai asked, “If one who is defiled by contact with a corpse touches any of these, does it become defiled?” “Yes, it becomes defiled,” the priests answered.
14ฮักกัยจึงตอบว่า “พระยาห์เวห์กล่าวว่า ‘ประชาชนนี้เป็นอย่างนั้น ชาตินี้ก็เป็นอย่างนั้นต่อหน้าเรา งานทุกอย่างที่มือของพวกเขาทำก็เป็นอย่างนั้น สิ่งที่พวกเขาถวายที่นั่นเป็นมลทิน
14Then Haggai replied, “So it is with this people and this nation before Me, declares the LORD, and so it is with every work of their hands; whatever they offer there is defiled.
15ตอนนี้ขอให้พวกคุณคิดให้ดี นับจากวันนี้ย้อนหลังไป ก่อนวางหินก้อนหนึ่งบนหินอีกก้อนในพระวิหารของพระยาห์เวห์
15Now consider carefully from this day forward: Before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
16ตลอดเวลานั้น เมื่อใครมาที่กองที่มียี่สิบหน่วย ก็มีเพียงสิบหน่วย เมื่อมาที่ถังเหล้าองุ่นเพื่อตักออกห้าสิบ ก็มีเพียงยี่สิบ
16from that time, when one came expecting a heap of twenty ephahs of grain, there were but ten. When one came to the winepress to draw out fifty baths, there were but twenty.
17เราตีพวกคุณด้วยโรคพืชเหี่ยวแห้ง โรครา และลูกเห็บ จนงานทั้งหมดที่พวกคุณลงมือทำเสียหาย แต่พวกคุณก็ไม่หันกลับมาหาเรา’ พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว
17I struck you—all the work of your hands—with blight, mildew, and hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the LORD.
18‘ขอให้คิดให้ดี นับจากวันนี้ย้อนหลังไป จากวันที่ยี่สิบสี่ เดือนที่เก้า ตั้งแต่วันที่วางรากฐานพระวิหารของพระยาห์เวห์ จงคิดให้ดี
18Consider carefully from this day forward—from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider carefully:
19ยังมีเมล็ดพันธุ์ในยุ้งฉางไหม? จริงทีเดียว ทั้งเถาองุ่น ต้นมะเดื่อ ต้นทับทิม และต้นมะกอกยังไม่ให้ผล ตั้งแต่วันนี้เราจะอวยพรพวกคุณ’”
19Is there still seed in the barn? The vine, the fig, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet yielded fruit. But from this day on, I will bless you.”
20ถ้อยคำจากพระยาห์เวห์มาถึงฮักกัยเป็นครั้งที่สองในวันที่ยี่สิบสี่ของเดือนว่า
20For the second time that day, the twenty-fourth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to Haggai, saying,
21“จงพูดกับเศรุบบาเบล ผู้ว่าการยูดาห์ ว่า ‘เราจะเขย่าฟ้าสวรรค์และแผ่นดินโลก
21“Tell Zerubbabel governor of Judah that I am about to shake the heavens and the earth:
22จะโค่นบัลลังก์ของราชอาณาจักรทั้งหลาย ทำลายกำลังของราชอาณาจักรของชาติต่าง ๆ จะคว่ำรถศึกและคนที่นั่งอยู่ในนั้น ม้าและคนขี่จะล้มลง แต่ละคนด้วยดาบของพี่น้องของตน
22I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overturn chariots and their riders; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
23วันนั้น พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว เราจะรับคุณ เศรุบบาเบลผู้รับใช้ของเรา บุตรเชอัลทิเอล’ พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว ‘จะทำให้คุณเป็นเหมือนแหวนตรา เพราะเราเลือกคุณแล้ว’ พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว”
23On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will take you, My servant, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, declares the LORD, and I will make you like My signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
