1Een godsspraak: Het woord van Jahweh is over het land van Chadrak gekomen, Het zet zich in Damascus neer: Want Jahweh behoren de steden van Aram,
1This is the burden of the word of the LORD against the land of Hadrach and Damascus its resting place— for the eyes of men and of all the tribes of Israel are upon the LORD —
2Met Chamat, dat er aan grenst, Met Tyrus en Sidon, Die zo wijs willen zijn.
2and also against Hamath, which borders it, as well as Tyre and Sidon, though they are very shrewd.
3Tyrus heeft zich een vesting gebouwd, Zilver opgehoopt als stof, En goud als slijk op de straten:
3Tyre has built herself a fortress; she has heaped up silver like dust, and gold like the dirt of the streets.
4Toch zal de Heer het veroveren, Zijn bolwerk in de zee verpletteren, Dan wordt het verteerd door het vuur.
4Behold, the Lord will impoverish her and cast her wealth into the sea, and she will be consumed by fire.
5Asjkelon aanschouwt het vol angst, Gaza krimpt ineen van ontzetting, Ekron ziet zijn verwachting bedrogen. Gaza zal geen koning meer hebben, Asjkelon onbewoond blijven liggen,
5Ashkelon will see and fear; Gaza will writhe in agony, as will Ekron, for her hope will wither. There will cease to be a king in Gaza, and Ashkelon will be uninhabited.
6In Asjdod zal de Bastaard wonen. Zo breek Ik de trots der Filistijnen,
6A mixed race will occupy Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.
7Haal zijn bloed uit zijn mond, Zijn gruwelen tussen zijn tanden uit. Dan valt ook hij onzen God ten buit: Hij wordt een geslacht, dat tot Juda behoort, En Ekron als de Jeboesiet.
7I will remove the blood from their mouths and the abominations from between their teeth. Then they too will become a remnant for our God; they will become like a clan in Judah, and Ekron will be like the Jebusites.
8Dan sla Ik mijn legerplaats op Als een wachtpost voor mijn huis Tot afweer van hen, die komen en gaan. Dan zal geen dwingeland Hem meer overvallen: Want met eigen ogen zie Ik toe!
8But I will camp around My house because of an army, because of those who march to and fro, and never again will an oppressor overrun My people, for now I keep watch with My own eyes.
9Juich van vreugde, dochter van Sion, Jubel, Jerusalems dochter: Zie, uw Koning komt naar u toe! Hij is Rechtvaardig en een Verlosser, Nederig, op een ezel gezeten, Op een veulen, het jong van een ezelin!
9Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your King comes to you, righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
10Uit Efraïm neemt Hij de strijdwagens weg, De paarden uit Jerusalem; De oorlogsboog wordt in stukken gebroken. Vrede zal Hij de volken verkonden; Van zee tot zee zal Hij heersen, Van de Rivier tot de grenzen der aarde!
10And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem, and the bow of war will be broken. Then He will proclaim peace to the nations. His dominion will extend from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates to the ends of the earth.
11En gij? Om het bloed van uw verbond Heb Ik uw gevangenen bevrijd Uit de put zonder water.
11As for you, because of the blood of My covenant, I will release your prisoners from the waterless pit.
12Zij keren terug naar de Burcht, Gevangenen, die nog hopen kunnen: Ook nu nog blijf Ik bij u!
12Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; even today I declare that I will restore to you double.
13Dubbel zal Ik het u vergelden: Waarachtig, Juda span Ik als mijn boog, En Efraïm leg Ik daarop als pijl. Uw zonen, Sion, vuur Ik aan, Tegen de kinderen van Kewan: Ik maak van u een heldenzwaard!
13For I will bend Judah as My bow and fit it with Ephraim. I will rouse your sons, O Zion, against the sons of Greece. I will make you like the sword of a mighty man.
14Jahweh zal boven hen verschijnen, Zijn pijl zal vliegen als de bliksem, De Heer Jahweh blaast de bazuin. Hij schiet uit als een orkaan uit het zuiden:
14Then the LORD will appear over them, and His arrow will go forth like lightning. The Lord GOD will sound the ram’s horn and advance in the whirlwinds of the south.
15Jahweh der heirscharen zal hen dekken Als met een schild! Dan zullen de stenen uit zijn slinger Hun vlees verslinden, En aan hun bloed zich bedrinken. Ze worden verhit als door wijn, Raken vol als een offerschaal, En als de hoeken van een altaar.
15The LORD of Hosts will shield them. They will destroy and conquer with slingstones; they will drink and roar as with wine. And they will be filled like sprinkling bowls, drenched like the corners of the altar.
16Dan zal Jahweh, hun God, hen verlossen, Hen weiden als zijn kudde op die dag; Want omdat zij geen herder hadden, Waren zij over zijn land verstrooid.
16On that day the LORD their God will save them as the flock of His people; for like jewels in a crown they will sparkle over His land.
17Hoe goed zal het zijn, En hoe heerlijk! Het koren zal den jongeman, De wijn de maagden doen bloeien;
17How lovely they will be, and how beautiful! Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine, the young women.
