1The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
1Solomon palunghahaih lok loe hae tiah oh; palungha caa mah loe ampa to poeknawmsak, kamthu ih caa mah loe amno to palungsetsak.
2Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivereth from death.
2Amsoem ai ah hak ih hmuen loe atho om ai, toe toenghaih mah loe duekhaih thung hoiah pahlong.
3The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish; but He thrusteth away the desire of the wicked.
3Katoeng kami loe zok amthlam moe, duek hanah Angraeng mah asaeng ai; toe kahoih ai kami ih hmuenmae loe amrosak.
4He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand; but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
4Thasae ban mah anih to amtangsak, thahoih ban mah loe anih to angraengsak.
5A wise son gathereth in summer; but a son that doeth shamefully sleepeth in harvest.
5Nipui tueah caaknaek patung kami loe palungha capa ah oh, cang aah tue ah iip kami loe azathaih paek capa ah oh.
6Blessings are upon the head of the righteous; but the mouth of the wicked concealeth violence.
6Katoeng kami ih lu ah loe tahamhoihaih to oh; toe kahoih ai kami ih pakha loe athii palonghaih hoiah koi.
7The memory of the righteous shall be for a blessing; but the name of the wicked shall rot.
7Katoeng kaminawk loe pahnet thai ai pongah tahamhoih o; toe kasae kami ih ahmin loe qong tih.
8The wise in heart will receive commandments; but a prating fool shall fall.
8Palungha palungthin mah loe lokpaekhaih to pazui; toe lok angaek thaih kamthu loe amro tih.
9He that walketh uprightly walketh securely; but he that perverteth his ways shall be found out.
9Toenghaih loklam ah caeh kami loe ngancuem tih; toe lam amkhraeng kami loe a poekhaih to amtueng tih.
10He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow; and a prating fool shall fall.
10Uthaih mik pakhriphaih mah kami to raihaih paek, lok angaek thaih kamthu loe amro tih.
11The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life; but the mouth of the wicked concealeth violence.
11Katoeng kami ih pakha loe hinghaih tuipuek ah oh, toe kasae kami ih pakha loe kahoih ai hmuen hoiah koi.
12Hatred stirreth up strifes; but love covereth all transgressions.
12Hnukmahaih mah misa angcoengsak, toe amlunghaih mah loe zaehaih boih to khuk.
13In the lips of him that hath discernment wisdom is found; but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
13Panoekhaih tawn kami ih pahni ah palunghahaih to amtueng, toe panoekhaih tawn ai kami ih kaengah loe quiboeng to oh.
14Wise men lay up knowledge; but the mouth of the foolish is an imminent ruin.
14Palungha kami loe palunghaih to patungh, toe amthu kami ih pakha loe amro han zoi daek.
15The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the ruin of the poor is their poverty.
15Angraeng ih tacong loe kacak angmah ih vangpui ah oh; toe amtang kami amtanghaih loe angmah amrohaih ah oh.
16The wages of the righteous is life; the increase of the wicked is sin.
16Katoeng kami toksakhaih atho loe hinghaih ah oh, toe kahoih ai kami ih thingthai mah loe zaehaih to tacawtsak.
17He is in the way of life that heedeth instruction; but he that forsaketh reproof erreth.
17Thuitaekhaih lok tahngai kami loe hinghaih loklam ah caeh; toe thuitaekhaih lok aek kami loe loklam amkhraeng.
18He that hideth hatred is of lying lips; and he that uttereth a slander is a fool.
18Lok amlaihaih mah hnukmahaih to amtueng ai ah ohsak, minawk kasae thui kami loe kamthu ah ni oh.
19In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
19Kapop ah lokthuih naah thuih pazaehaih to oh; toe palungha kami loe pahni to ciip.
20The tongue of the righteous is as choice silver; the heart of the wicked is little worth.
20Palungha kami ih palai loe qoih ih sumkanglung baktiah oh; toe kahoih ai kami ih palungthin loe atho om ai.
21The lips of the righteous feed many; but the foolish die for want of understanding.
21Katoeng kami ih pahni mah kami paroeai pacah; toe kamthu loe panoekhaih tawn ai pongah duek.
22The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and toil addeth nothing thereto.
22Angraeng tahamhoihaih mah angraenghaih to ohsak, to angraenghaih ah loe palungsethaih om ai.
23It is as sport to a fool to do wickedness, and so is wisdom to a man of discernment.
23Kamthu loe kahoih ai hmuen nuiah anghoe, toe palungha kami loe panoekhaih tawnh.
24The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him; and the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
24Kahoih ai kami nuiah zithaih to pha tih; toe katoeng kami koehhaih loe akoepsak tih.
25When the whirlwind passeth, the wicked is no more; but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
25Kahoih ai kaminawk loe, kamhae takhi baktiah laemh o; toe katoeng kaminawk loe dungzan kacak ahmuen ah oh.
26As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
26Kathaw tui mah haa kinsak moe, hmaikhue mah mik amcapsak baktih toengah, thasae kami doeh anih patoeh kami hanah to tiah oh.
27The fear of the LORD prolongeth days; but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
27Angraeng zithaih mah hinglung sawksak; toe kasae kaminawk loe saning duem tih.
28The hope of the righteous is gladness; but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
28Anghoehaih loe katoeng kaminawk oephaih ah oh; toe kasae kaminawk oephaih loe anghmaa tih.
29The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the upright, but ruin to the workers of iniquity.
29Angraeng ih loklam loe katoeng kaminawk hanah thacakhaih ah oh; toe kahoih ai hmuen sah kaminawk han loe amrohaih ah oh.
30The righteous shall never be moved; but the wicked shall not inhabit the land.
30Katoeng kami loe natuek naah doeh angthui mak ai; toe kasae kami loe long nuiah kacakah khosah thai mak ai.
31The mouth of the righteous buddeth with wisdom; but the froward tongue shall be cut off.
31Katoeng kami ih pakha thung hoiah palunghahaih to tacawt; toe kangkoih ah lokthui kami ih palai loe aat pae pat tih.
32The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable; but the mouth of the wicked is all frowardness.
32Katoeng kami ih palai loe tapom thaikoi ah kaom hmuen to panoek; toe kasae kami ih pakha loe kangkoih ah lok apaeh.
