1Thus the Lord GOD showed me; and, behold, He formed locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.
1主耶和華指示我一件事：為王割菜之後，菜又發生；剛發生的時候，主造蝗蟲。
2And if it had come to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land — so I said: O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech Thee; how shall Jacob stand? for he is small.
2蝗蟲吃盡那地的青物，我就說：「主耶和華啊，求你赦免；因為 雅各 微弱，他怎能站立得住呢？」
3The LORD repented concerning this; 'It shall not be', saith the LORD.
3耶和華就後悔說：「這災可以免了。」
4Thus the Lord GOD showed me; and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire; and it devoured the great deep, and would have eaten up the land.
4主耶和華又指示我一件事：他命火來懲罰 以色列 ，火就吞滅深淵，險些將地燒滅。
5Then said I: O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech Thee; how shall Jacob stand? for he is small.
5我就說：「主耶和華啊，求你止息；因為 雅各 微弱，他怎能站立得住呢？」
6The LORD repented concerning this; 'This also shall not be', saith the Lord GOD.
6耶和華就後悔說：「這災也可免了。」
7Thus He showed me; and, behold, the Lord stood beside a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in His hand.
7他又指示我一件事：有一道牆是按準繩建築的，主手拿準繩站在其上。
8And the LORD said unto me: 'Amos, what seest thou?' And I said: 'A plumbline.' Then said the Lord: Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of My people Israel; I will not again pardon them any more;
8耶和華對我說：「 阿摩司 啊，你看見甚麼？」我說：「看見準繩。」主說：「我要吊起準繩在我民 以色列 中，我必不再寬恕他們。
9And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
9以撒 的邱壇必然淒涼； 以色列 的聖所必然荒廢。我必興起，用刀攻擊 耶羅波安 的家。」
10Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying: 'Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is not able to bear all his words.
10伯特利 的祭司 亞瑪謝 打發人到 以色列 王 耶羅波安 那裏，說：「 阿摩司 在 以色列 家中圖謀背叛你；他所說的一切話，這國擔當不起；
11For thus Amos saith: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.'
11因為 阿摩司 如此說：『 耶羅波安 必被刀殺； 以色列 民定被擄去離開本地。』」
12Also Amaziah said unto Amos: 'O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there;
12亞瑪謝 又對 阿摩司 說：「你這先見哪，要逃往 猶大 地去，在那裏糊口，在那裏說預言，
13but prophesy not again any more at Beth-el, for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a royal house.'
13卻不要在 伯特利 再說預言；因為這裏有王的聖所，有王的宮殿。」
14Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah: 'I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdman, and a dresser of sycamore-trees;
14阿摩司 對 亞瑪謝 說：「我原不是先知，也不是先知的門徒。我是牧人，又是修理桑樹的。
15and the LORD took me from following the flock, and the LORD said unto me: Go, prophesy unto My people Israel.
15耶和華選召我，使我不跟從羊群，對我說：『你去向我民 以色列 說預言。』
16Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest: Prophesy not against Israel, and preach not against the house of Isaac;
16亞瑪謝 啊，現在你要聽耶和華的話。你說：『不要向 以色列 說預言，也不要向 以撒 家滴下 預言 。』
17Therefore thus saith the LORD: Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou thyself shalt die in an unclean land, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.'
17所以耶和華如此說：『你的妻子必在城中作妓女；你的兒女必倒在刀下。你的地必有人用繩子量了分取；你自己必死在污穢之地。 以色列 民定被擄去離開本地。』」
