1小羊が七つの封印の一つを開くのを見た。そのとき、四つの生き物の一つが雷のような声で、「来て、見なさい」と言うのを聞いた。
1I saw that the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as with a voice of thunder, “Come and see!”
2すると、白い馬が現れた。それに乗る者は弓を持っていた。その者には冠が与えられ、勝利を収め、さらに勝利するために出て行った。
2Then a white horse appeared, and he who sat on it had a bow. A crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer.
3小羊が第二の封印を開くと、第二の生き物が「来なさい」と言うのを聞いた。
3When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!”
4すると、別の馬、赤い馬が出て来た。それに乗る者には、地上から平和を奪い、人々を互いに殺し合わせる力が与えられた。また、その者には大きな剣が与えられた。
4Another came out, a red horse. To him who sat on it was given power to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another. There was given to him a great sword.
5小羊が第三の封印を開くと、第三の生き物が「来て、見なさい」と言うのを聞いた。見よ、黒い馬が現れ、それに乗る者は手に秤を持っていた。
5When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come and see!” And behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a balance in his hand.
6また、四つの生き物の中央から出る声が、こう言うのを聞いた。「小麦一コイニクスが一デナリ、また大麦三コイニクスが一デナリ。オリーブ油とぶどう酒を損なってはならない。」
6I heard a voice in the middle of the four living creatures saying, “A choenix of wheat for a denarius, and three choenix of barley for a denarius! Don’t damage the oil and the wine!”
7小羊が第四の封印を開くと、第四の生き物が「来て、見なさい」と言うのを聞いた。
7When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see!”
8見よ、青ざめた馬が現れ、それに乗る者の名は「死」であった。ハデスがその後に従っていた。その者には、剣と飢饉と死と地上の野獣によって殺すため、地上の四分の一に及ぶ権威が与えられた。
8And behold, a pale horse, and the name of he who sat on it was Death. Hades followed with him. Authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword, with famine, with death, and by the wild animals of the earth was given to him.
9小羊が第五の封印を開くと、神の言葉と、自分たちが持っていた小羊の証しのために殺された人々の魂が、祭壇の下にいるのを見た。
9When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had.
10彼らは大声で叫んだ。「聖なる真実な主権者よ、いつまで、地上に住む者たちを裁かず、私たちの血の報復をなさらないのですか。」
10They cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, Master, the holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”
11彼ら一人ひとりに長い白い衣が与えられた。そして、自分たちと同じように殺されることになっている仲間の僕たちと兄弟たちも、その歩みを全うするまで、もうしばらく休むように告げられた。
11A long white robe was given to each of them. They were told that they should rest yet for a while, until their fellow servants and their brothers, who would also be killed even as they were, should complete their course.
12小羊が第六の封印を開くと、大きな地震が起こるのを見た。太陽は毛で作った粗布のように黒くなり、月全体が血のようになった。
12I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake. The sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became as blood.
13また、いちじくの木が大風に揺さぶられて未熟な実を落とすように、空の星が地上に落ちた。
13The stars of the sky fell to the earth, like a fig tree dropping its unripe figs when it is shaken by a great wind.
14空は巻物が巻き取られるように退き、すべての山と島はその場所から移された。
14The sky was removed like a scroll when it is rolled up. Every mountain and island was moved out of its place.
15地上の王たち、高官たち、将軍たち、富む者たち、力ある者たち、すべての奴隷と自由人は、洞穴や山の岩間に身を隠した。
15The kings of the earth, the princes, the commanding officers, the rich, the strong, and every slave and free person, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains.
16そして山々と岩々に言った。「私たちの上に倒れかかり、王座に座っておられる方の御顔と、小羊の怒りから私たちを隠してくれ。
16They told the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,
17その方の怒りの大いなる日が来たからだ。だれが立っていられるだろうか。」
17for the great day of his wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
