1Then Booz went up to the gate, and sat there. And when he had seen the kinsman going by, of whom he had spoken before, he said to him, calling him by his name: Turn aside for a little while, and sit down here. He turned aside, and sat down.
1Boaz loe khongkha taengah caeh tahang moe, to ah anghnut. Khenah, anih mah thuih ih canawk maeto loe anih taengah angzoh, to naah Boaz mah, Aw ampui nang, angzoh loe, hae ah anghnu ah, tiah a naa. To pongah anih loe caeh moe, anghnut.
2And Booz taking ten men of the ancients of the city, said to them: Sit ye down here.
2Boaz mah vangpui thung ih kacoehtanawk hato hoih moe, Hae ah anghnu o raeh, tiah a naa. A thuih ih baktih toengah nihcae doeh anghnut o.
3They sat down, and he spoke to the kinsman: Noemi, who is returned from the country of Moab, will sell a parcel of land that belonged to our brother Elimelech.
3To naah a canawk khaeah, Moab prae hoiah amlaem let, Naomi mah aicae amya Elimalek ih lawk hmuen to a zawh;
4I would have thee to understand this, and would tell thee before all that sit here, and before the ancients of my people. If thou wilt take possession of it by the right of kindred: buy it and possess it: but if it please thee not, tell me so, that I may know what I have to do. For there is no near kinsman besides thee, who art first, and me, who am second. But he answered: I will buy the field.
Anih mah, Ka krang han hmang, tiah a naa.
5And Booz said to him: When thou shalt buy the field at the woman’s hand, thou must take also Ruth the Moabitess, who was the wife of the deceased: to raise up the name of thy kinsman in his inheritance.
5To naah Boaz mah, Naomi khae ih lawk hmuen na qan na niah, kadueh kami ih hmuen hoi anih ih ahmin panoek poe thai hanah, anih ih zu Moab nongpata Ruth to doeh na qan han oh, tiah a naa.
6He answered: I yield up my right of next akin: for I must not cut off the posterity of my own family. Do thou make use of my privilege, which I profess I do willingly forego.
6To naah angmah ih canawk mah, Kaimah hanah long ka krang thai mak ai; ka krang nahaeloe kaimah ih qawk to kam rosak moeng tih; to pongah nangmah taham ah nang mah akrang halat ah, tiah a naa.
7Now this in former times was the manner in Israel between kinsmen, that if at any time one yielded his right to another: that the grant might be sure, the man put off his shoe, and gave it to his neighhour; this was a testimony of cession of right in Israel.
7Canghniah Israel kaminawk mah, hmuen akranghaih hoi anglaihaih kawng pongah, hmuen boih caksak hanah, kami maeto mah angmah ih khokpanai to angkhring moe, kalah maeto khaeah paek: hae tiah Israel kaminawk salakah a sak o.
8So Booz said to his kinsman: Put off thy shoe. And immediately he took it off from his foot.
8To pongah a canawk ah kaom kami mah Boaz khaeah, Nangmah hanah qan ah, tiah a naa. To naah anih mah angmah ih khokpanai to angkhring.
9And he said to the ancients and to all the people: You are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and Chelion’s, and Mahalon’s, of the hand of Noemi:
9To naah Boaz mah kacoehtanawk hoi kaminawk boih hmaa ah, Kai mah, vaihniah Naomi ih ban khae hoiah, Elimelek, Kilion hoi Mahlon ih lawk hmuen hae ka qan boeh, tiah nangcae loe panoekkung ah na oh o.
10And have taken to wife Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahalon, to raise up the name of the deceased in his inheritance lest his name be cut off, from among his family and his brethren and his people. You, I say, are witnesses of this thing.
10Mahlon ih zu, Moab tanuh Ruth doeh ka zu ah oh hanah ka qan boeh; kadueh kami ih hmuen loe angmah ih ahmin hoiah om poe ueloe, anih ih nawkamya thung hoiah maw, a ohhaih khongkha thung hoiah maw ahmin to anghmasak mak ai: vaihniah nangcae loe hnukung ah na oh o boeh, tiah a naa.
11Then all the people that were in the gate, and the ancients answered: We are witnesses: The Lord make this woman who cometh into thy house, like Rachel, and Lia, who built up the house of Israel: that she may be an example of virtue in Ephrata, and may have a famous name in Bethlehem:
11To naah khongkha ah kaom kacoehtanawk hoi kaminawk boih mah, Kaicae loe hnukung ah ka oh o, tiah a thuih o. Angraeng mah na im ah angzo nongpata to Israel imthung takoh padoekung, Rachel hoi Leah baktiah omsak nasoe; nang loe Ephrathah ah khet kamcuk ah omh loe, Bethlehem ah ahmin amthang nasoe.
12And that the house may be, as the house of Phares, whom Thamar bore unto Juda, of the seed which the Lord shall give thee of this young woman.
12Hae saning kanawk nongpata khaeah, Angraeng mah ang paek han ih atii hoiah na caanawk loe, Judah kami Tamar mah tapen ih, Perez acaeng baktiah na imthung takoh ah om nasoe, tiah a naa o.

14And the women said to Noemi: Blessed be the Lord, who hath not suffered thy family to want a successor, that his name should be preserved in Israel.
14Nongpatanawk mah Naomi khaeah, Nang akrangkung canawk apet ai ah omsakkung, Angraeng ahmin pakoehhaih om nasoe; nawkta ih ahmin loe Israel kaminawk thungah ahmin amthang nasoe.
15And thou shouldst have one to comfort thy soul, and cherish thy old age. For he is born of thy daughter in law: who loveth thee: and is much better to thee, than if thou hadst seven sons.
15Anih loe na hinghaih angthasak let kami, na mitong naah nang khenzawnkung ah om nasoe; capa sarihtonawk pongah doeh, na langah mah nang to ang palung kue, anih mah capa maeto tapen boeh, tiah a naa o.
16And Noemi taking the child laid it in her bosom, and she carried it, and was a nurse unto it.
16To naah Naomi mah nawkta to tapom moe, a khetzawn.
17And the women her neighbours, congratulating with her and saying: There is a son born to Noemi: called his name Obed: he is the father of Isai, the father of David.
17To ah kaom a imtaeng ih nongpatanawk mah, Naomi mah capa maeto sak, tiah a thuih o pongah, nawkta ih ahmin to Obed, tiah phui o; anih loe Jesse ampa ah oh; Jesse loe David ampa ah oh.
18These are the generations of Phares: Phares begot Esron,

19Esron begot Aram, Aram begot Aminadab,
19Hezron mah Ram to sak moe, Ram mah Amminadab to sak,
20Aminadab begot Nahasson, Nahasson begot Salmon,
