Asang Khongca Bible (Eastern Khumi Chin, 2019)
1And in those days cometh John the Baptist preaching in the desert of Judea.
1To naah tuinuemhaih paekkung Johan to angzoh moe, Judea praezaek thungah lok to thuih,
2And saying: Do penance: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
2anih mah, Dawnpakhuem oh: van prae loe zoi boeh, tiah thuih.
3For this is he that was spoken of by Isaias the prophet, saying: A voice of one crying in the desert, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.
3Tahmaa Isaiah mah thuih ih lok loe, Praezaek ah kahang lok mah, Angraeng ih loklam to paroep oh, a loklamnawk to patoengh oh, tiah thuih.
4And the same John had his garment of camels’ hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins: and his meat was locusts and wild honey.
4Johan loe kaengkuu hrang moihin to angkhuk moe, moihin kaengkaeh to angzaeng; anih loe pakhuh hoi khoitui to buh ah caak.
5Then went out to him Jerusalem and all Judea, and all the country about Jordan:
5Jerusalem, Judea prae kami hoi Jordan vapui taeng ih kaminawk boih anih khaeah caeh o,
6And were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.
6angmacae zaehaih taphong o pacoengah, anih mah Jordan vapui ah tuinuemhaih to paek.
7And seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them: Ye brood of vipers, who hath shewed you to flee from the wrath to come?
7Anih tuinuemhaih ahmuen ah angzo paroeai Farasi hoi Sadusinawk to a hnuk naah, anih mah nihcae khaeah, Aw pahui caanawk, angzo han koi palungphuihaih cawnhtaak ving hanah mi mah maw ang thuih o?
8Bring forth therefore fruit worthy of penance.
8Dawnpakhuemhaih athaih to athai oh:
9And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham for our father. For I tell you that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham.
9kaicae loe pa Abraham ka tawnh o, tiah poek o hmah: kang thuih o, Sithaw mah loe hae thlungnawk hae Abraham ih caa ah angcoengsak thaih.
10For now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that doth not yield good fruit, shall be cut down, and cast into the fire.
10Vaihi loe thingkung tangzun ah caka suekcoek ah oh boeh: kahoih athaih athai ai thingkung loe pakhruk moe, hmai thungah vah boih boeh.
11I indeed baptize you in the water unto penance, but he that shall come after me, is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear; he shall baptize you in the Holy Ghost and fire.
11Kai mah loe dawnpakhuem tuinuemhaih ni tui hoiah kang paek o: toe ka hnukah angzo kami loe kai pongah len kue, kai loe anih ih khokpanai sin han mataeng doeh kam cuk ai: anih mah loe Kacai Muithla hoi hmai hoiah tuinuemhaih na paek o tih:
12Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his floor and gather his wheat into the barn; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.
12Anih loe ban ah cang hawhhaih paqa to sin ueloe, cang to kaciim ah haw tih; angmah ih cang loe tapup thungah suem ueloe, canghii loe kadueh thai ai hmai thungah va tih, tiah a naa.
13Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan, unto John, to be baptized by him.
13To naah Jesu loe tuinuem hanah Kalili prae hoi Jordan vapui ah Johan khaeah caeh.
14But John stayed him, saying: I ought to be baptized by thee, and comest thou to me?
14Toe Johan mah angmaak pae, Kai loe nang khae ih tuinuemhaih to ka ngaih, tipongah kai khaeah nang zoh lat loe? tiah a naa.
15And Jesus answering, said to him: Suffer it to be so now. For so it becometh us to fulfill all justice. Then he suffered him.
15Jesu mah anih khaeah, Aihnik mah toenghaih boih akoepsak hanah oh pongah, vaihi loe to tiah na sah pae raeh, tiah a naa. To naah Johan mah Anih koehhaih to paroi pae.
16And Jesus being baptized, forthwith came out of the water: and lo, the heavens were opened to him: and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him.
16Jesu loe tuinuem pacoengah, tui thung hoiah angthawk tahang: khenah, anih hanah van to amongh, a nuiah kacuk, pahuu baktiah anghum tathuk, Sithaw ih Muithla to a hnuk:
17And behold a voice from heaven, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
17to naah van bang hoiah, Hae loe palung duek ih ka Capa ni, a nuiah paroeai kang hoe, tiah lok to angzoh.
