1Now Saphatias the son of Mathan, and Gedelias the son of Phassur, and Juchal the son of Selemias, and Phassur the son of Melchias heard the words that Jeremias spoke to all the people, saying:
1玛坦 的儿子 示法提雅 、 巴施户珥 的儿子 基大利 、 示利米雅 的儿子 犹甲 、 玛基雅 的儿子 巴施户珥 听见 耶利米 对众人所说的话，说：
2Thus saith the Lord: Whosoever shell remain in this city, shall die by the sword, and by famine, and by pestilence: but he that shall go forth to the Chaldeans, shall live, and his life shall be safe, and he shall live.
2「耶和华如此说：住在这城里的必遭刀剑、饥荒、瘟疫而死；但出去归降 迦勒底 人的必得存活，就是以自己命为掠物的，必得存活。
3Thus saith the Lord: This city shall surely be delivered into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it.
3耶和华如此说：这城必要交在 巴比伦 王军队的手中，他必攻取这城。」
4And the princes said to the king: We beseech thee that this man may be put to death: for on purpose he weakeneth the hands of the men of war, that remain in this city, and the hands of the people, speaking to them according to these words: for this man seeketh not peace to this people, but evil.
4于是首领对王说：「求你将这人治死；因他向城里剩下的兵丁和众民说这样的话，使他们的手发软。这人不是求这百姓得平安，乃是叫他们受灾祸。」
5And king Sedecias said: Behold he is in your hands: for it is not lawful for the king to deny you any thing.
5西底家 王说：「他在你们手中，无论何事，王也不能与你们反对。」
6Then they took Jeremias and cast him into the dungeon of Melchias the son of Amelech, which was in the entry of the prison: and they let down Jeremias by ropes into the dungeon, wherein there was no water, but mire. And Jeremias sunk into the mire.
6他们就拿住 耶利米 ，下在 哈米勒 的儿子 玛基雅 的牢狱里；那牢狱在护卫兵的院中。他们用绳子将 耶利米 系下去。牢狱里没有水，只有淤泥， 耶利米 就陷在淤泥中。
7Now Abdemelech the Ethiopian, an eunuch that was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremias in the dungeon: but the king was sitting in the gate of Benjamin.
7在王宫的太监 古实 人 以伯·米勒 ，听见他们将 耶利米 下了牢狱（那时王坐在 便雅悯门 口），
8And Abdemelech went out of the king’s house, and spoke to the king, saying:
8以伯·米勒 就从王宫里出来，对王说：
9My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done against Jeremias the prophet, casting him into the dungeon to die there with hunger, for there is no more bread in the city.
9「主—我的王啊，这些人向先知 耶利米 一味地行恶，将他下在牢狱中；他在那里必因饥饿而死，因为城中再没有粮食。」
10Then the king commanded Abdemelech the Ethiopian, saying: Take from hence thirty men with thee, and draw up Jeremias the prophet out of the dungeon, before he die.
10王就吩咐 古实 人 以伯·米勒 说：「你从这里带领三十人，趁着先知 耶利米 未死以前，将他从牢狱中提上来。」
11So Abdemelech taking the men with him, went into the king’s house that was under the storehouse: and he took from thence old rags, and old rotten things, and he let them down by cords to Jeremias into the dungeon.
11于是 以伯·米勒 带领这些人同去，进入王宫，到库房以下，从那里取了些碎布和破烂的衣服，用绳子缒下牢狱去到 耶利米 那里。
12And Abdemelech the Ethiopian said to Jeremias: Put these old rags and these rent and rotten things under thy arms, and upon the cords: and Jeremias did so.
12古实 人 以伯·米勒 对 耶利米 说：「你用这些碎布和破烂的衣服放在绳子上，垫你的胳肢窝。」 耶利米 就照样行了。
13And they drew up Jeremias with the cords, and brought him forth out of the dungeon. And Jeremias remained in the entry of the prison.
13这样，他们用绳子将 耶利米 从牢狱里拉上来。 耶利米 仍在护卫兵的院中。
14And king Sedecias sent, and took Jeremias the prophet to him to the third gate, that was in the house of the Lord: and the king said to Jeremias: I will ask thee a thing, hide nothing from me.
14西底家 王打发人带领先知 耶利米 ，进耶和华殿中第三门里见王。王就对 耶利米 说：「我要问你一件事，你丝毫不可向我隐瞒。」
15Then Jeremias said to Sedecias: If I shall declare it to thee, wilt thou not put me to death? and if I give thee counsel, thou wilt not hearken to me.
15耶利米 对 西底家 说：「我若告诉你，你岂不定要杀我吗？我若劝戒你，你必不听从我。」
16Then king Sedecias swore to Jeremias, in private, saying: As the Lord liveth, that made us this soul, I will not put thee to death, nor will I deliver thee into the hands of these men that seek thy life.
16西底家 王就私下向 耶利米 说：「我指着那造我们生命之永生的耶和华起誓：我必不杀你，也不将你交在寻索你命的人手中。」
17And Jeremias said to Sedecias: Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: If thou wilt take a resolution and go out to the princes of the king of Babylon, thy soul shall live, and this city shall not be burnt with fire: and thou shalt be safe, and thy house.
17耶利米 对 西底家 说：「耶和华—万军之 神、 以色列 的 神如此说：你若出去归降 巴比伦 王的首领，你的命就必存活，这城也不致被火焚烧，你和你的全家都必存活。
18But if thou wilt not go out to the princes of the king of Babylon, this city shall be delivered into the hands of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire: and thou shalt not escape out of their hands.
18你若不出去归降 巴比伦 王的首领，这城必交在 迦勒底 人手中。他们必用火焚烧，你也不得脱离他们的手。」
19And king Sedecias said to Jeremias: I am afraid because of the Jews that are fled over to the Chaldeans: lest I should be delivered into their hands, and they should abuse me.
19西底家 王对 耶利米 说：「我怕那些投降 迦勒底 人的 犹大 人，恐怕 迦勒底 人将我交在他们手中，他们戏弄我。」
20But Jeremias answered: They shall not deliver thee: hearken, I beseech thee, to the word of the Lord, which I speak to thee, and it shall be well with thee, and thy soul shall live.
20耶利米 说：「 迦勒底 人必不将你交出。求你听从我对你所说耶和华的话，这样你必得好处，你的命也必存活。
21But if thou wilt not go forth, this is the word which the Lord hath shewn me:
21你若不肯出去，耶和华指示我的话乃是这样：
22Behold all the women that are left in the house of the king of Juda, shall be brought out to the princes of the king of Babylon: and they shall say: Thy men of peace have deceived thee, and have prevailed against thee, they have plunged thy feet in the mire, and in a slippery place, and they have departed from thee.
22犹大 王宫里所剩的妇女必都带到 巴比伦 王的首领那里。这些妇女必说： 你知己的朋友催逼你， 胜过你； 见 你的脚陷入淤泥中， 就转身退后了。
23And all thy wives, and thy children shall be brought out to the Chaldeans, and thou shalt not escape their hands, but thou shalt be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon: and he shall burn this city with fire.
23「人必将你的后妃和你的儿女带到 迦勒底 人那里；你也不得脱离他们的手，必被 巴比伦 王的手捉住；你也必使这城被火焚烧。」
24Then Sedecias said to Jeremias: Let no man know these words, and thou shalt not die.
24西底家 对 耶利米 说：「不要使人知道这些话，你就不至于死。
25But if the princes shall hear that I have spoken with thee, and shall come to thee, and say to thee: Tell us what thou hast said to the king, hide it not from us, and we will not kill thee: and also what the king said to thee:
25首领若听见了我与你说话，就来见你，问你说：『你对王说什么话不要向我们隐瞒，我们就不杀你。王向你说什么话也要告诉我们。』
26Thou shalt say to them: I presented my supplication before the king, that he would not command me to be carried back into the house of Jonathan, to die there.
26你就对他们说：『我在王面前恳求不要叫我回到 约拿单 的房屋死在那里。』」
27So all the princes came to Jeremias, and asked him: and he spoke to them according to all the words that the king had commanded him: and they left him: for nothing had been heard.
27随后众首领来见 耶利米 ，问他，他就照王所吩咐的一切话回答他们。他们不再与他说话，因为事情没有泄漏。
28But Jeremias remained in the entry of the prison, until the day that Jerusalem was taken: and it came to pass that Jerusalem was taken.
28于是 耶利米 仍在护卫兵的院中，直到 耶路撒冷 被攻取的日子。
