1And the men of Ephraim said to him: What is this that thou meanest to do, that thou wouldst not call us when thou wentest to fight against Madian? and they chid him sharply and almost offered violence.
1Ephraim kaminawk mah Gideon khaeah, Tipongah Midian kaminawk tuk naah kaicae nang kawk ai loe? tiah lok kaham hoiah a naa o moe, anih to kasae net o.
2And he answered them: What could I have done like to that which you have done? Is not one bunch of grapes of Ephraim better than the vintages of Abiezer?
2Toe Gideon mah nihcae khaeah, Na sak o ih baktiah patah hanah timaw ka sak ih oh? Ephraim ih misurthaih pasawh pongah loe, Abierzer ih misurthaih pakhrik to hoih kue ai maw?
3The Lord hath delivered into your bands the princes of Madian, Oreb and Zeb: what could I have done like to what you have done? And when he had said this, their spirit was appeased, with which they swelled against him.
3Sithaw mah Midian kaminawk zaehoikung, Oreb hoi Zeeb to nangcae ban ah paek boeh; nangcae hoi patah hanah kai loe timaw ka sak thaih? tiah a naa. To tiah a thuih pae naah, nihcae palungphuihaih to dip.
4And when Gedeon was come to the Jordan, he passed over it with the three hundred men, that were with him: who were so weary that they could not pursue after them that fled.
4Gideon hoi angmah ih kami cumvai thumtonawk loe angpho o boeh; toe Jordan vapui to angkaat o moe, misanawk to patom o vop.
5And he said to the men of Soccoth: Give, I beseech you, bread to the people that is with me, for they are faint: that we may pursue Zebee, and Salmana the kings of Madian.
5Sukkoth vangpui ih kaminawk khaeah, Midian siangpahrang, Zebah hoi Zalmunna hnik to ka patom vop; ka hnukbang kaminawk loe angpho o sut boeh pongah, nihcae han takaw to paek thoem ah, tiah tahmenhaih a hnik.
6The princes of Soccoth answered: Peradventure the palms of the hands of Zebee and Salmana are in thy hand, and therefore thou demandest that we should give bread to thy army.
6Toe Sukkoth vangpui ih angraengnawk mah, Zebah hoi Zalmunna hnik loe na ban ah maw oh hoi boeh? Tih hanah nang ih misatuh kaminawk to takaw ka paek o han loe? tiah a naa o.
7And he said to them: When the Lord therefore shall have delivered Zebee and Salmana into my hands, I will thresh your flesh with the thorns and briers of the desert.
7To naah Gideon mah, Angraeng mah Zebah hoi Zalmunna to ka ban ah paek naah, praezaek ih soekhringnawk hoiah na ngan to kang sih pae o han, tiah a naa.
8And going up from thence, he came to Phanuel: and he spoke the like things to the men of that place. And they also answered him, as the men of Soccoth had answered.
8Anih loe to ahmuen hoiah Penuel ah caeh moe, nihcae khaeah to tiah a hnik let; toe nihcae mah doeh Sukkoeth avang ih kaminawk mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah a naa o.
9He said therefore to them also: When I shall return a conqueror in peace, I will destroy this tower.
9To pongah Penuel ih kaminawk khaeah, Kamong ah kang zoh naah, hae ih imsang hae ka phraek boih han, tiah a naa.
10But Zebee and Salmana were resting with all their army. For fifteen thousand men were left of all the troops of the eastern people, and one hundred and twenty thousand warriors that drew the sword, were slain.
10Sumsen sin kami sang cumvaito pacoeng, pumphae to duek o pongah, ni angyae bangah kaom misatuh kaminawk loe, kanghmat kami sang hatlai pangato oh o; nihcae loe Zebah hoi Zalmunna khaeah nawnto Karkor vangpui ah oh o.
11And Gedeon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents, on the east of Nobe and Jegbaa, and smote the camp of the enemies, who were secure, and suspected no hurt.
11Gideon loe Nobah hoi Jogbeh vangpui ni angyae bangah kaom, kahni im ah khosah kaminawk caehhaih loklam bang hoiah caeh moe, kamongah kaom Midian misatuh kaminawk to a hum.
12And Zebee and Salmana fled, and Gedeon pursued and took them, all their host being put in confusion.

14He took a boy of the men of Soccoth: and he asked him the names of the princes and ancients of Soccoth, and he described unto him seventy-seven men.
14Sukkoth avang ih thendoeng maeto to naeh moe, lok a dueng; to naah to thendoeng mah Sukkoth avang thung ih ukkungnawk hoi kacoehta quisarih, sarihtonawk ih ahmin to tarik pae.
15And he came to Soccoth and said to them: Behold Zebee and Salmana, concerning whom you upbraided me, saying: Peradventure the hands of Zebee and Salmana, are in thy hands, and therefore thou demandest that we should give bread to the men that are weary and faint.
15To pacoengah Gideon loe Sukkoth vangpui kaminawk khaeah caeh moe, angpho parai hoiah nangcae han toksah ka hnukbang kaminawk hanah takaw to paek oh, tiah tahmenhaih kang hnik naah, Zebah hoi Zalmunna loe na ban ah maw oh hoi? tiah nang pahnuih o thuih ih, Zebah hoi Zalmunna hae khen oh, tiah a naa.
16So he took the ancients of the city and thorns and briers of the desert, and tore them with the same, and cut in pieces the men of Soccoth.
16Sukkoth vangpui ih kacoehtanawk to a kawk moe, praezaek ih soekhring thing hoiah Sukkoth ih kaminawk to a boh.
17And he demolished the tower of Phanuel, and slew the men of the city.

18And he said to Zebee and Salmana: What manner of men were they whom you slew in Thabor? They answered: They were like thee, and one of them as the son of a king.
18To pacoengah Zabah hoi Zalmunna khaeah, Tabor vangpui ah na hum hoi ih kaminawk loe kawbaktih kaminawk maw? tiah a dueng. Nihnik mah, To kaminawk loe nang baktiah oh o, siangpahrang capanawk hoiah anghmong, to kaminawk to ka hum hoi, tiah a naa.
19He answered them: They were my brethren, the sons of my mother. As the Lord liveth, if you had saved them, I would not kill you.
19Gideon mah, Nihcae loe kai ih nawkayanawk ni; kam no ih caa ah oh o. Angraeng loe hing baktih toengah, nihcae hinghaih na pathlung nahaeloe, kang hum mak ai, tiah a naa.
20And he said to Jether his eldest son: Arise, and slay them. But he drew not his sword: for he was afraid, being but yet a boy.
20Gideon mah a capa kacoeh koek Jether khaeah, Angthawk loe, hae kami hnik hae hum ah, tiah a naa. Toe anih loe nawkta ah oh moe, zit pongah, Jether mah angmah ih sumsen to aphong ai.
21And Zebee and Salmana said: Do thou rise, and run upon us: because the strength of a man is according to his age: Gedeon rose up and slew Zebee and Salmana: and he took the ornaments and bosses, with which the necks of the camels of kings are wont to be adorned.
21Zebah hoi Zalmunna mah anih khaeah, Angthawk loe, na hum ah; nongpa loe a thacakhaih tawnh na ai maw? tiah a naa. To pongah Gideon mah caeh moe, Zebah hoi Zalmanna to hum, to pacoengah kaengkuu hrang tahnong pongah a-oihsak ih hmuennawk to a lak.
22And all the men of Israel said to Gedeon: Rule thou over us and thy son, and thy son’s son: because thou hast delivered us from the hand of Madian.

24And he said to them: I desire one request of you: Give me the earlets of your spoils. For the Ismaelites were accustomed to wear golden earlets.
24To pacoengah Gideon mah nihcae khaeah, Tahmenhaih maeto hnik ka koeh; misanawk loe Ishmael kami ah oh o pongah, kami boih mah nihcae khae hoi na lak o ih naa tangkraeng to na paek oh, tiah a naa.
25They answered: We will give them most willingly. And spreading a mantle on the ground, they cast upon it the earlets of the spoils.
25Nihcae mah, Palung angthawkhaih hoiah kang paek o han hmang, tiah a naa o. Nihcae mah kahni maeto baih o moe, kami boih mah lak o ih naa tangkraeng to kahni nuiah vah pae o.
26And the weight of the earlets that he requested, was a thousand seven hundred sicles of gold, besides the ornaments, and jewels, and purple raiment which the kings of Madian were went to use, and besides the golden chains that were about the camels’ necks.

27And Gedeon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city Ephra. And all Israel committed fornication with it, and it became a ruin to Gedeon and to all his house.
27To ih hmuennawk hoiah Gideon mah kahni to sak moe, a ohhaih ahmuen Oprah vangpui ah a suek; to naah Israel kaminawk boih mah to hmuen to bok o lat bae; to pongah to hmuen loe Gideon hoi angmah ih imthung takoh hanah patung ih dongh baktiah oh pae lat.
28But Madian was humbled before the children of Israel, neither could they any more lift up their beads: but the land rested for forty years, while Gedeon presided.
28Israel kaminawk mah Midian kaminawk pazawk o pacoengah loe, misa angthawk o ai boeh. Gideon hing nathung prae thungah misa monghaih saning quipalito oh.
29So Jerobaal the son of Joas went, and dwelt in his own house.

30And he had seventy sons, who came out of his thigh, for he had many wives.

34And they remembered not the Lord their God, who delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies round about:
34Ahmuen kruekah kaom misanawk ban thung hoiah pahlongkung, angmacae ih Angraeng Sithaw to panoek o ai boeh.
35Neither did they shew mercy to the house of Jerobaal Gedeon, according to all the good things he had done to Israel.
35Nihcae nuiah kahoih hmuen sahkung, Jerub-Baal (Gideon) imthung takoh nuiah doeh tahmenhaih tawn o ai.
