1Then Samson went down to Thamnatlia, and seeing there a woman of the daughters of the Philistines,
1Samson loe Timnath ah caeh tathuk moe, to ah Philistin nongpata maeto a hnuk.
2He came up, and told his father and his mother, saying: I saw a woman in Thamnatha of the daughters of the Philistines: I beseech you, take her for me to wife.
2Anih amlaem let naah loe, ampa hoi amno khaeah, Timnah vangpui ah nongpata maeto ka hnuk, anih to ka zu ah na la paeh, tiah a naa.
3And his father and mother said to him: Is there no woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou wilt take a wife of the Philistines, who are uncircumcised? And Samson said to his father: Take this woman for me, for she hath pleased my eyes.
3Amno hoi ampa mah, Nangmah ih nawkamyanawk ih canu, aimah acaeng thungah nongpata om ai pongah maw tangyat hin aat ai Philistin tanuh zu ah lak han na thuih? tiah a naa hoi. Toe Samson mah ampa khaeah, Anih to ka koeh khruek boeh pongah, ka zu ah na la paeh, tiah a naa.
4Now his parents knew not that the thing was done by the Lord, and that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.
4Philistin kaminawk tukhaih loklam hnuk thai hanah Angraeng mah hae tiah hmuen to sak, tiah ampa hoi amno mah panoek hoi ai; to nathuem ah Israel kaminawk loe Philistinnawk mah uk o.
5Then Samson went down with his father and mother to Thamnatha. And when they were come to the vineyards of the town, behold a young lion met him raging and roaring.
5Samson loe amno ampa hoi nawnto Timnath vangpui ah caeh tathuk, Timnath vangpui taeng ih misur takha phak o naah, khenah, kaipui loe hangh moe, anih to hmang.
6And the spirit of the Lord came upon Samson, and he tore the lion as he would have torn a kid in pieces, having nothing at all in his hand: and he would not tell this to his father and mother.
6Samson loe ban ah tidoeh sin ai; toe Angraeng thacakhaih a nuiah oh pongah, Maeh ca taprawt pet baktiah to kaipui to anih mah taprawt pat; a sak ih hmuen to amno hoi ampa khaeah thui pae ai.
7And he went down and spoke to the woman that had pleased his eyes.
7To pacoengah nongpata to koeh pongah, anih khae lokthuih hanah caeh tathuk.
8And after some days returning to take her, he went aside to see the carcass of the lion, and behold there was a swarm of bees in the mouth of the lion and a honeycomb.
8Atue nasetto maw oh pacoengah, to nongpata to lak hanah a caeh let; kaipui qok to khet hanah lam taeng bangah a caeh; a khet naah, to kaipui qok thungah kaom khoiphae hoi khoitui to a hnuk.
9And when be had taken it in his hands, he went on eating: and coming to his father and mother, he gave them of it, and they ate: but he would not tell them, that he had taken the honey from the body of the lion.
9Khoi to ban hoi lak moe, a caak, amno hoi ampa khae phak naah, nihnik han doeh a paek thoem; nihnik mah doeh caak hoi toeng; toe anih mah kaipui qok thung ih khoitui ni, tiah nihnik khaeah thui pae ai.
10So his father went down to the woman, and made a feast for his son Samson: for so the young men used to do.
10Ampa loe nongpata khet hanah caeh tathuk; Samson loe thendoeng mah sak koi atawk baktih toengah to ah buhcaakhaih poih to a sak.
11And when the citizens of that place saw him, they brought him thirty companions to be with him.
11To ih kaminawk mah Samson to hnuk o naah, anih hoi nawnto oh hanah kami quithumto paek o.
12And Samson said to them: I will propose to you a riddle, which if you declare unto me within the seven days of the feast, I will give you thirty shirts, and as many coats:
12Samson mah nihcae khaeah, Lok karai kang thuih o han, hae ih poih ni sarihto thungah nang thuih o thaih nahaeloe, puu kahni zung quithumto hoi khukbuennawk kang paek o han;
13But if you shall not be able to declare it, you shall give me thirty shirts and the same number of coats. They answered him: Put forth the riddle that we may hear it.
13toe nang thui o thai ai nahaeloe, puu kahni zung quithumto hoi khukbuennawk to na paek o toeng ah, tiah a naa. Nihcae mah anih khaeah, Nang thuih han koi karai lok to na thui lai ah, thaih ka koeh o boeh, tiah a naa o.
14And he said to them: Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.
14To naah Samson mah nihcae khaeah, Kacaa thaih kami thung hoiah buh to tacawt moe, thacak kami thung hoiah kaluep to tacawt, tiah a naa. Ni thumto thung nihcae mah thui pae o thai ai.
15And when the seventh day came, they said to the wife of Samson: Soothe thy husband, and persuade him to tell thee what the riddle meaneth. But if thou wilt not do it, we will burn thee, and thy father’s house. Have you called us to the wedding on purpose to strip us?
15Ni sarihto naah loe nihcae mah, Samson zu khaeah, Lok karai duenghaih to kaicae khaeah ang thuih thai hanah, na sava to zoek ah, to tih ai nahaeloe nangmah hoi nam pa imthung takoh boih hmai hoiah kang thlaek o han; kaicae ih hmuenmae lak han ih maw kaicae hae nang kawk? tiah a naa o.
16So she wept before Samson and complained, saying: Thou hatest me, and dost not love me: therefore thou wilt not expound to me the riddle which thou hast proposed to the sons of my people. But he answered: I would not tell it to my father and mother, and how can I tell it to thee?
16To pacoengah Samson ih zu loe a hmaa ah qah pae moe, Kai hae nang palung tangtang ai, nang hnukma; kai ih kaminawk khaeah karai lokduenghaih to na thuih pae, toe kai nang panoeksak ai, tiah a naa. Anih mah, Khenah, kam pa hoi kam no khaeah mataeng doeh ka thui ai vop; tipongah nang khaeah kang thuih han loe? tiah a naa.
17So she wept before him the seven days of the feast: and at length on the seventh day as she was troublesome to him, he expounded it. And she immediately told her countrymen.
17Nongpata loe anih hmaa ah buhraenghaih ni sarihto thung qah pae; toe a hnik pae khruek pongah, ni sarihto naah loe a thuih pae; to karai lokduenghaih to a zu mah angmah ih kaminawk khaeah thuih pae patoeng.
18And they on the seventh day before the sun went down said to him: What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said to them: If you had not ploughed with my heifer, you had not found out my riddle.
18Ni sarihto ni akun ai naah, vangpui thung ih kaminawk mah Samson khaeah, Khoi pongah kaluep kue timaw oh? Kaipui pongah thacak kue timaw oh vop? tiah a naa. Samson mah nihcae khaeah, Kai ih maitaw tala hoiah laikok na tok o ai nahaeloe, kang dueng o ih karai lok to nang pathim o thai mak ai, tiah a naa.
19And the spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he went down to Ascalon, and slew there thirty men, whose garments he took away and gave to them that had declared the riddle. And being exceeding angry he went up to his father’s house:
19To naah anih nuiah Angraeng ih Muithla to oh; anih loe Ashkelon vangpui ah caeh tathuk moe, kami quithumto hum; a khukbuennawk to a khring pae, a tawnh o ih hmuennawk to a lak pae pacoengah, karai lokduenghaih pathim thaih kaminawk hanah a paek. Anih loe paroeai plungphui hoiah ampa im ah caeh.
20But his wife took one of his friends and bridal companions for her husband.
20Samson ih zu to, Samson hoi nawnto angkom angmah ih ampui hanah paek o ving.
