1Now when David was dwelling in his house, he said to Nathan the prophet: Behold I dwell in a house of cedar: and the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under skins.
1David loe angmah ih im ah oh naah, tahmaa Nathan khaeah, Khenah kai loe sidar thing hoiah sak ih im ah ka oh, Angraeng lokkamhaih thingkhong loe kahni im ah oh sut, tiah thuih.
2And Nathan said to David: Do all that is in thy heart: for God is with thee.
2Nathan mah David khaeah, Nang khaeah Sithaw oh pongah, palung thungah na poek ih hmuennawk boih to sah ah, tiah a naa.
3Now that night the word of God came to Nathan, saying:
3To na aqum ah Sithaw ih lok Nathan khaeah angzoh;
4Go, and speak to David my servant: Thus saith the Lord: Thou shalt not build me a house to dwell in.
4caeh ah loe ka tamna David khaeah, Angraeng mah, Ka ohhaih im loe nang mah na sah mak ai;
5For I have not remained in a house from the time that I brought up Israel, to this day: but I have been always changing places in a tabernacle, and in a tent,
5Izip prae hoi Israel ka zaeh na ni hoi kamtong vaihni ni khoek to im ah ka om ai vop; toe kahni im maeto hoi maeto ah ka caeh moe, ohhaih ahmuen maeto hoi maeto bangah kang puen, tiah thuih, tiah thui paeh.
6Abiding with all Israel. Did I ever speak to any one, of all the judges of Israel, whom I charged to feed my people, saying: Why have you not built me a house of cedar?
6Israel caanawk hoi ka caehhaih ahmuen kruekah, kai ih kaminawk to pacah hanah, Israel lokcaekkungnawk khaeah, Tipongah kai han sidar im na sah o ai loe, tiah ka naa vaih maw?
7Now therefore thus shalt thou say to my servant David: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: I took thee from the pastures, from following the flock, that thou shouldst be ruler of my people Israel.
7To pongah ka tamna David khaeah, misatuh Angraeng mah, Misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah, Kai ih kami Israel caanawk ukkung ah oh hanah, nang hae tuu toephaih tuu khongkha thung hoiah ka lak han,
8And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast gone: and have slain all thy enemies before thee, and have made thee a name like that of one of the great ones that are renowned in the earth.
8na caehhaih ahmuen kruekah kang oh thuih moe, na hmaa ih misanawk to kang haek pae boih han; long ah ahmin amthang koek kaminawk baktiah na hmin kang ohsak han.
9And I have given a place to my people Israel: they shall be planted, and shall dwell therein, and shall be moved no more, neither shall the children of iniquity waste them, as at the beginning,
9Kaimah ih kami Israelnawk hanah ahmuen to ka paek han, nihcae loe angpuen o mak ai boeh, angmacae ohhaih ahmuen ah oh o thai hanah, ka tlingh han; tangsuek ah a oh o ih baktih toengah, kahoih ai kaminawk mah hnaphnae o mak ai boeh,
10Since the days that I gave judges to my people Israel, and have humbled all thy enemies. And I declare to thee, that the Lord will build thee a house.
11And when thou shalt have ended thy days to go to thy fathers, I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons: and I will establish his kingdom.
11Nang ih aninawk to boeng moe, nam panawk khae oh hanah na caeh naah, nang khae hoi tacawt caanawk thung ih, na capa maeto ka pathawk moe, anih ukhaih prae to ka sak han.
12He shall build me a house, and I will establish his throne for ever.
12Anih mah ni kai hanah im sah tih, anih ih angraeng tangkhang loe dungzan khoek to ka caksak han.
13I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee.
13Kai loe anih ih ampa ah ka oh han, anih loe ka capa ah om tih; na hmaa ah kaom kaminawk khae hoi ka lak pae ih baktih toengah, ka tahmenhaih anih khae hoi ka zuk mak ai boeh.
14But I will settle him in my house, and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be most firm for ever.
14Anih to ka im hoi ka prae ah dungzan khoek to ka suek han, anih ih angraeng tangkhang loe dungzan khoek to cak tih, tiah thuih, tiah thui paeh, tiah a naa.
15According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak to David.
15Hae ah thuih ih loknawk hoi hae hnuksakhaih hmuen baktih toengah, Nathan mah David khaeah thuih pae.
16And king David came and sat before the Lord, and said: Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that thou shouldst give such things to me?
16David siangpahrang loe imthung ah caeh, Angraeng hmaa ah anghnut moe, Aw Angraeng Sithaw, kai loe kawbaktih kami ah maw ka oh moe, ka imthung takoh doeh kawbangmaw ka oh o moe, hae ahmuen khoek to nang zaehhoih?
17But even this hath seemed little in thy sight, and therefore thou hast also spoken concerning the house of thy servant for the time to come: and best made me remarkable above all men, O Lord God.
17Toe Aw Sithaw, hae hmuen loe na mikhnukah tetta ah ni oh, kalen parai na tamna imthung takoh hmalam to nang thuih boih boeh; Aw Angraeng Sithaw, kai hae pakoeh koi kaom kasang koek kaminawk baktiah nang khet boeh.
18What can David add more, seeing thou hast thus glorified thy servant, and known him?
18Na tamna hae na panoek boeh pongah, David mah timaw thui thai vop tih?
19O Lord, for thy servant’s sake, according to thy own heart, thou hast shewn all this magnificence, and wouldst have all the great things to be known.
19Aw Angraeng, na tamna nuiah na koehhaih baktiah, kalen parai hae hmuennawk boih amtuengsak hanah, kalen parai hmuennawk hae na suek boeh.
20O Lord there is none like thee: and there is no other God beside thee, of all whom we have heard of with our ears.
20Aw Angraeng, nang baktih mi doeh om ai; naa hoi ka thaih o boih ih baktih toengah, nang ai ah loe kalah Sithaw roe om ai.
21For what other nation is there upon earth like thy people Israel, whom God went to deliver, and make a people for himself, and by his greatness and terrors cast out nations before their face whom he had delivered out of Egypt?
21Izip prae thung hoi na krang ih nangmah ih kaminawk hmaa ah, prae kaminawk haekhaih rang hoiah nang to zitthok kalen ahmin ah suek hanah, Sithaw mah angmah ih kami ah oh hanah akrang ih, nangmah ih kami Israel hoi kanghmong acaeng maeto long nui ah oh maw?
22And thou hast made thy people Israel to be thy own people for ever, and thou, O Lord, art become their God.
22Nangmah ih kami Israel caanawk loe dungzan khoek to nang ih kami ah oh o thai hanah, na sak boeh, Angraeng, nang loe nihcae ih Sithaw ah na oh.
23Now therefore, O Lord, let the word which thou hast spoken to thy servant, and concerning his house, be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.
23To pongah vaihiah, Angraeng, na thuih ih na tamna hoi a imthung takoh hmuennawk to dungzan khoek to caksak ah; na thuih ih lok baktiah sah ah.
24And let thy name remain and be magnified for ever: and let it be said: The Lord of hosts is God of Israel, and the house of David his servant remaineth before him.
24Na hmin dungzan khoek to len hanah, to tiah cak nasoe; misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng, Israel Sithaw loe, Israel kaminawk ih Sithaw ah oh; na tamna David ih im loe na hmaa ah cak nasoe, tiah thuih.
25For thou, O Lord my God, hast revealed to the ear of thy servant, that thou wilt build him a house: and therefore thy servant hath found confidence to pray before thee.
25Aw ka Sithaw, nang hanah im kang sak pae han, tiah na tamna khaeah nang thuih pongah, na tamna loe na hmaa ah lawkthuih koehhaih palungthin a tawnh.
26And now O Lord, thou art God: and thou hast promised to thy servant such great benefits.
26Aw Angraeng, nang loe Sithaw ah na oh! Na tamnanawk khaeah hae lokkamhaih hae na suek boeh.
27And thou hast begun to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be always before thee: for seeing thou blessest it, O Lord, it shall be blessed for ever.
27To pongah vaihi na hmaa ah dungzan ah oh thaih moe, na tamna ih im tahamhoihaih paek hanah, anghoehaih palungthin tawn rae ah; Aw Angraeng, tahamhoihaih nang paek boeh pongah, dungzan khoek to tahamhoihaih to hnu tih boeh, tiah lawkthuih.
