1撒拉 享寿一百二十七岁，这是 撒拉 一生的岁数。
1Sarah lived one hundred twenty-seven years. This was the length of Sarah’s life.
2撒拉 死在 迦南 地的 基列·亚巴 ，就是 希伯 。 亚伯拉罕 为她哀恸哭号。
2Sarah died in Kiriath Arba (also called Hebron), in the land of Canaan. Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
3后来 亚伯拉罕 从死人面前起来，对 赫 人说：
3Abraham rose up from before his dead and spoke to the children of Heth, saying,
4「我在你们中间是外人，是寄居的。求你们在这里给我一块地，我好埋葬我的死人，使她不在我眼前。」
4“I am a stranger and a foreigner living with you. Give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.”
5赫 人回答 亚伯拉罕 说：
5The children of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,
6「我主请听。你在我们中间是一位尊大的王子，只管在我们最好的坟地里埋葬你的死人；我们没有一人不容你在他的坟地里埋葬你的死人。」
6“Hear us, my lord. You are a prince of God among us. Bury your dead in the best of our tombs. None of us will withhold from you his tomb. Bury your dead.”
7亚伯拉罕 就起来，向那地的 赫 人下拜，
7Abraham rose up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, to the children of Heth.
8对他们说：「你们若有意叫我埋葬我的死人，使她不在我眼前，就请听我的话，为我求 琐辖 的儿子 以弗 ；
8He talked with them, saying, “If you agree that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,
9把田头上那 麦比拉洞 给我；他可以按着足价卖给我，作我在你们中间的坟地。」
9that he may sell me the cave of Machpelah, which he has, which is in the end of his field. For the full price let him sell it to me among you as a possession for a burial place.”
10当时 以弗 正坐在 赫 人中间。于是， 赫 人 以弗 在城门出入的 赫 人面前对 亚伯拉罕 说：
10Now Ephron was sitting in the middle of the children of Heth. Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the hearing of the children of Heth, even of all who went in at the gate of his city, saying,
11「不然，我主请听。我送给你这块田，连田间的洞也送给你，在我同族的人面前都给你，可以埋葬你的死人。」
11“No, my lord, hear me. I give you the field, and I give you the cave that is in it. In the presence of the children of my people I give it to you. Bury your dead.”
12亚伯拉罕 就在那地的人民面前下拜，
12Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land.
13在他们面前对 以弗 说：「你若应允，请听我的话。我要把田价给你，求你收下，我就在那里埋葬我的死人。」
13He spoke to Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, “But if you will, please hear me. I will give the price of the field. Take it from me, and I will bury my dead there.”
14以弗 回答 亚伯拉罕 说：
14Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him,
15「我主请听。值四百舍客勒银子的一块田，在你我中间还算什么呢？只管埋葬你的死人吧！」
15“My lord, listen to me. What is a piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver between me and you? Therefore bury your dead.”
16亚伯拉罕 听从了 以弗 ，照着他在 赫 人面前所说的话，把买卖通用的银子平了四百舍客勒给 以弗 。
16Abraham listened to Ephron. Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver which he had named in the hearing of the children of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, according to the current merchants’ standard.
17于是， 麦比拉 、 幔利 前、 以弗 的那块田和其中的洞，并田间四围的树木，
17So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all of its borders, were deeded
18都定准归与 亚伯拉罕 ，乃是他在 赫 人面前并城门出入的人面前买妥的。
18to Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city.
19此后， 亚伯拉罕 把他妻子 撒拉 埋葬在 迦南 地 幔利 前的 麦比拉 田间的洞里。（ 幔利 就是 希伯 ）。
19After this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre (that is, Hebron), in the land of Canaan.
20从此，那块田和田间的洞就借着 赫 人定准归与 亚伯拉罕 作坟地。
20The field, and the cave that is in it, were deeded to Abraham by the children of Heth as a possession for a burial place.
