1The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.
1以色列 人又行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，耶和華將他們交在 非利士 人手中四十年。
2There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and childless.
2那時，有一個 瑣拉 人，是屬 但 族的，名叫 瑪挪亞 。他的妻不懷孕，不生育。
3The LORD’s angel appeared to the woman, and said to her, “See now, you are barren and childless; but you shall conceive and bear a son.
3耶和華的使者向那婦人顯現，對她說：「向來你不懷孕，不生育，如今你必懷孕生一個兒子。
4Now therefore please beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and don’t eat any unclean thing;
4所以你當謹慎，清酒濃酒都不可喝，一切不潔之物也不可吃。
5for, behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son. No razor shall come on his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb. He shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”
5你必懷孕生一個兒子，不可用剃頭刀剃他的頭，因為這孩子一出胎就歸上帝作拿細耳人。他必起首拯救 以色列 人脫離 非利士 人的手。」
6Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, “A man of God came to me, and his face was like the face of the angel of God, very awesome. I didn’t ask him where he was from, neither did he tell me his name;
6婦人就回去對丈夫說：「有一個神人到我面前來，他的相貌如上帝使者的相貌，甚是可畏。我沒有問他從哪裏來，他也沒有將他的名告訴我，
7but he said to me, ‘Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink. Don’t eat any unclean thing, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.’”
7卻對我說：『你要懷孕生一個兒子，所以清酒濃酒都不可喝，一切不潔之物也不可吃；因為這孩子從出胎一直到死，必歸上帝作拿細耳人。』」
8Then Manoah entreated the LORD, and said, “Oh, Lord, please let the man of God whom you sent come again to us, and teach us what we should do to the child who shall be born.”
8瑪挪亞 就祈求耶和華說：「主啊，求你再差遣那神人到我們這裏來，好指教我們怎樣待這將要生的孩子。」
9God listened to the voice of Manoah, and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field; but Manoah, her husband, wasn’t with her.
9上帝應允 瑪挪亞 的話；婦人正坐在田間的時候，上帝的使者又到她那裏，她丈夫 瑪挪亞 卻沒有同她在一處。
10The woman hurried and ran, and told her husband, saying to him, “Behold, the man who came to me that day has appeared to me.”
10婦人急忙跑去告訴丈夫說：「那日到我面前來的人，又向我顯現。」
11Manoah arose and followed his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to my wife?” He said, “I am.”
11瑪挪亞 起來跟隨他的妻來到那人面前，對他說：「與這婦人說話的就是你嗎？」他說：「是我。」
12Manoah said, “Now let your words happen. What shall the child’s way of life and mission be?”
12瑪挪亞 說：「願你的話應驗！我們當怎樣待這孩子，他後來當怎樣呢？」
13The LORD’s angel said to Manoah, “Of all that I said to the woman let her beware.
13耶和華的使者對 瑪挪亞 說：「我告訴婦人的一切事，她都當謹慎。
14She may not eat of anything that comes of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing. Let her observe all that I commanded her.”
14葡萄樹所結的都不可吃，清酒濃酒都不可喝，一切不潔之物也不可吃。凡我所吩咐的，她都當遵守。」
15Manoah said to the LORD’s angel, “Please stay with us, that we may make a young goat ready for you.”
15瑪挪亞 對耶和華的使者說：「求你容我們款留你，好為你預備一隻山羊羔。」
16The LORD’s angel said to Manoah, “Though you detain me, I won’t eat your bread. If you will prepare a burnt offering, you must offer it to the LORD.” For Manoah didn’t know that he was the LORD’s angel.
16耶和華的使者對 瑪挪亞 說：「你雖然款留我，我卻不吃你的食物，你若預備燔祭就當獻與耶和華。」原來 瑪挪亞 不知道他是耶和華的使者。
17Manoah said to the LORD’s angel, “What is your name, that when your words happen, we may honor you?”
17瑪挪亞 對耶和華的使者說：「請將你的名告訴我，到你話應驗的時候，我們好尊敬你。」
18The LORD’s angel said to him, “Why do you ask about my name, since it is incomprehensible?”
18耶和華的使者對他說：「你何必問我的名，我名是奇妙的。」
19So Manoah took the young goat with the meal offering, and offered it on the rock to the LORD. Then the angel did an amazing thing as Manoah and his wife watched.
19瑪挪亞 將一隻山羊羔和素祭在磐石上獻與耶和華， 使者 行奇妙的事； 瑪挪亞 和他的妻觀看，
20For when the flame went up toward the sky from off the altar, the LORD’s angel ascended in the flame of the altar. Manoah and his wife watched; and they fell on their faces to the ground.
20見火焰從壇上往上升，耶和華的使者在壇上的火焰中也升上去了。 瑪挪亞 和他的妻看見，就俯伏於地。
21But the LORD’s angel didn’t appear to Manoah or to his wife any more. Then Manoah knew that he was the LORD’s angel.
21耶和華的使者不再向 瑪挪亞 和他的妻顯現， 瑪挪亞 才知道他是耶和華的使者。
22Manoah said to his wife, “We shall surely die, because we have seen God.”
22瑪挪亞 對他的妻說：「我們必要死，因為看見了上帝。」
23But his wife said to him, “If the LORD were pleased to kill us, he wouldn’t have received a burnt offering and a meal offering at our hand, and he wouldn’t have shown us all these things, nor would he have told us such things as these at this time.”
23他的妻卻對他說：「耶和華若要殺我們，必不從我們手裏收納燔祭和素祭，並不將這一切事指示我們，今日也不將這些話告訴我們。」
24The woman bore a son and named him Samson. The child grew, and the LORD blessed him.
24後來婦人生了一個兒子，給他起名叫 參孫 。孩子長大，耶和華賜福與他。
25The LORD’s Spirit began to move him in Mahaneh Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
25在 瑪哈尼‧但 ，就是 瑣拉 和 以實陶 中間，耶和華的靈才感動他。
