1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying:
2ac fahk, “Mea soakas se inge ma mwet uh kalwenina in fahk in facl Israel? ‘Nina ac papa kangla grape mukol, A inwalin tulik uh mukolla kac.’”
2'What mean ye, that ye use this proverb in the land of Israel, saying: The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?
3LEUM GOD Fulatlana El fahk, “In oana ke nga pa God moul, kowos ac tia sifil kalweni soakas se inge in Israel.
3As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.
4Moul lun kais sie mwet oan inpouk — moul lun papa ac nina, oayapa moul lun tulik uh. Mwet se su orala ma koluk, el pa ac misa.
4Behold, all souls are Mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is Mine; the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
5“Fin pa oasr sie mwet arulana wo moul lal, su sie mwet suwoswos ac pwaye.
5But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,
6El tia alu nu ke ma sruloala lun mwet Israel, ku mongo ma kisakinyuk ke nien alu ma oal. El tia pwanla mutan kien siena mukul in orek kosro yorol, ku oan yurin sie mutan ke pacl el mas mutan.
6and hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a woman in her impurity;
7El tia kutasrik ku pisre ma lun mwet. El folokonang ma el ngisrala sin sie mwet, ac el kite mwet masrinsral ac sang nuknuk nu sin mwet koflufol.
7and hath not wronged any, but hath restored his pledge for a debt, hath taken nought by robbery, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;
8El tia sang mani lal nu sin mwet in orek kapak kac, ac el tiana oru ma koluk. El orala wotela suwohs ke pacl oasr akukuin inmasrlon mwet uh.
8he that hath not given forth upon interest, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true justice between man and man,
9Mwet ouinge se el akos ma nga sapkin, ac el oaru in liyaung ma sap luk. El sie mwet suwoswos, ac el ac fah moul.” LEUM GOD Fulatlana pa fahk ma inge.
9hath walked in My statutes, and hath kept Mine ordinances, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.
10“Na fin oasr sie mwet, su wen se natul orek pisrapasr ku akmas, ku oru kutu sin ma inge
10If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth to a brother any of these things,
11ma papa tumal tiana oru. El mongo ke ma kisala nu ke kain alu ma oal, ac orek kosro nu sin mutan kien siena mukul.
11whereas he himself had not done any of these things, for he hath even eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,
12El kiapu mwet sukasrup, ac el pisre ac sruokya ma sie mwet el sang elan akkapyauk. El som pac nu nien alu lun mwet pegan, ac alu nu ke ma sruloala
12hath wronged the poor and needy, hath taken by robbery, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,
13ac eis mani in orekmakin. Ku el ac moul? Mo, el ac tia. El oru ma koluk inge nukewa, ac ouinge el ac misa, ac el ac eis mwatan misa lal.
13hath given forth upon interest, and hath taken increase; shall he then live? he shall not live — he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely be put to death, his blood shall be upon him.
14“Na mukul se ingan fin oasr wen se natul, su liye ma nukewa ma papa tumal ah oru tusruk el tia oru oana papa sac.
14Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins, which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,
15El tia wi alu nu ke ma sruloala lun mwet Israel, ku mongo ke ma kisala nu ke ma sruloala uh. El tia kosro nu sin mutan kien siena mukul
15that hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife,
16ku oru ma upa nu sin kutena mwet, ku pisre ma lun kutena mwet. El folokonang ma itukyang nu sel elan akkapye. El kite mwet masrinsral, ac nokomang mwet koflufol.
16neither hath wronged any, hath not taken aught to pledge, neither hath taken by robbery, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,
17El srangesr oru ma koluk, ac tia ngusr mani in akkapye. El karinganang ma sap luk, ac akos ma nga sapkin. El ac tia misa ke sripen ma koluk lun papa tumal, tuh el ac moul na pwaye.
17that hath withdrawn his hand from the poor, that hath not received interest nor increase, hath executed Mine ordinances, hath walked in My statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
18Ac funu papa tumal ah, el kiapu ac pisre mwet, ac pacl nukewa oru ma koluk nu sin mwet. Ke ma inge el ac misa, ke sripen ma koluk su el sifacna orala.
18As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, committed robbery on his brother, and did that which is not good among his people, behold, he dieth for his iniquity.
19“Tuh pa kom siyuk ouinge, ‘Efu ku wen el tia keok ke ma koluk lun papa tumal an?’ Topuk uh pa inge: mweyen wen el oru ma suwohs ac wo. El liyaung ma sap luk ac fahsr kac ke suwohs, ac ouinge pwayena lah el ac moul.
19Yet say ye: Why doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father with him? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all My statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
20Pwayena lah el su oru ma koluk, el pa ac misa uh. Sie wen ac tia keok mweyen papa tumal el oru ma koluk, ac papa se ac tia keok mweyen wen natul el oru ma koluk. Sie mwet wo fah eis molin orekma wo lal, ac sie mwet orekma koluk ac fah keok ke ma koluk su el orala.
20The soul that sinneth, it shall die; the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father with him, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son with him; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
21“Sie mwet koluk fin tui liki oru ma koluk, ac el liyaung ma sap luk, ac el fin oru ma su suwohs ac wo, el ac fah tia misa — pwayena lah el ac fah moul.
21But if the wicked turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all My statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
22Ma koluk lal nukewa ac fah nunak munas nu sel, ac el ac moul mweyen el oru ma su suwohs.”
22None of his transgressions that he hath committed shall be remembered against him; for his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
23LEUM GOD Fulatlana El siyuk, “Ku kom nunku mu nga insewowo in liye sie mwet koluk misa? Mo, nga ke liye elan auliyak ac moul.
23Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD; and not rather that he should return from his ways, and live?
24“Tuh sie mwet suwohs el fin tui liki, ac el mutawauk in oru kain in ma koluk nukewa su mwet koluk elos oru, ku mea el ac moul? Mo! Ac wanginna ma wo ac esamyuk kacl. El ac misa ke sripen sesuwos lal ac ma koluk lal.
24But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? None of his righteous deeds that he hath done shall be remembered; for his trespass that he trespassed, and for his sin that he hath sinned, for them shall he die.
25“A kom fahk mu ‘Ma LEUM GOD El oru tia suwohs.’ Kowos mwet Israel, lohngyu. Ku kowos nunku mu usyen orekma luk uh tia suwohs? Inkanek in usya suwos uh pa tia suwohs.
25Yet ye say: The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel: Is it My way that is not equal? is it not your ways that are unequal?
26Sie mwet oru ma suwohs fin tui liki orekma wo lal, ac mutawauk in oru ma koluk, na el misa mweyen el oru ma tia wo.
26When the righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall die therefor; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
27Ke sie mwet tui liki orekma koluk lal, ac oru ma suwohs ac wo, el molela moul lal.
27Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
28El akilenak ma el oru, tuh na koluk, na el tui tila oru ma koluk, ouinge pwayena lah el ac tia misa. El ac moul na.
28Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
29A kowos mwet Israel uh fahk mu ma LEUM GOD El oru uh tia suwohs. Ya kowos nunku mu inkanek luk uh tia suwohs? Inkanek lowos an pa tia suwohs.
29Yet saith the house of Israel: The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, is it My ways that are not equal? is it not your ways that are unequal?
30“Inge nga, LEUM GOD Fulatlana, fahk nu suwos mwet Israel, lah nga fah nununkekowos kais sie ke ma el orala. Forla liki ma koluk su kowos oru, ac nikmet lela ma koluk in kunauskowosla.
30Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Return ye, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so shall they not be a stumblingblock of iniquity unto you.
31Sisla ouiyen moul koluk nukewa kowos oasr kac, ac eis ngun sasu ac inse sasu nu in kowos. Efu kowos mwet Israel uh ku lungse misa?”
31Cast away from you all your transgressions, wherein ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
32LEUM GOD Fulatlana El fahk, “Nga tia lungse kutena mwet in misa. Forla liki ma koluk lowos an, ac moul.”
32For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD; wherefore turn yourselves, and live.
