1イスラエルよ、あなたの神、主に立ち返れ。 あなたは自分の罪につまずいた。
1Israel, return to the LORD your God; for you have fallen because of your sin.
2言葉を携えて、主に立ち返れ。 主に言え。 「すべての罪を赦し、 良いものを受け入れてください。 そうすれば私たちは、唇で誓ったとおり雄牛をささげます。
2Take words with you, and return to the LORD. Tell him, “Forgive all our sins, and accept that which is good; so we offer bulls as we vowed of our lips.
3アッシリアは私たちを救わない。 私たちはもう馬に乗らない。 私たちの手で造ったものに、 『私たちの神々』とは言わない。 みなしごは、あなたのもとであわれみを得る。」
3Assyria can’t save us. We won’t ride on horses; neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, ‘Our gods!’ for in you the fatherless finds mercy.”
4「私は彼らの背信を癒す。 喜んで彼らを愛する。 私の怒りは彼らから離れた。
4“I will heal their waywardness. I will love them freely; for my anger is turned away from them.
5私はイスラエルにとって露のようになる。 彼は百合のように花を咲かせ、 レバノンの木々のように根を下ろす。
5I will be like the dew to Israel. He will blossom like the lily, and send down his roots like Lebanon.
6その枝は広がり、 その美しさはオリーブの木のように、 その香りはレバノンのようになる。
6His branches will spread, and his beauty will be like the olive tree, and his fragrance like Lebanon.
7人々は彼の陰に住み、 穀物のように芽吹き、 ぶどうの木のように花を咲かせる。 その香りはレバノンのぶどう酒のようになる。
7Men will dwell in his shade. They will revive like the grain, and blossom like the vine. Their fragrance will be like the wine of Lebanon.
8エフライムよ、私に偶像と何のかかわりがあるのか。 私が彼に答え、彼を顧みる。 私は青々と茂る糸杉。 あなたの実は私から生まれる。」
8Ephraim, what have I to do any more with idols? I answer, and will take care of him. I am like a green cypress tree; from me your fruit is found.”
9だれが知恵ある者で、これらのことを悟るだろうか。 だれが賢明な者で、これらを知るだろうか。 主の道は正しく、 義人はその道を歩む。 しかし、反逆する者はその道でつまずく。
9Who is wise, that he may understand these things? Who is prudent, that he may know them? For the ways of the LORD are right, and the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.
