1Jehoiakim capa Koniah yueng la Josiah capa manghai Zedekiah te manghai. Anih te Babylon manghai Nebukhanezar loh Judah khohmuen ah a manghai sak.
1Now king Sedecias the son of Josias reigned instead of Jechonias the son of Joakim: whom Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon made king in the land of Juda.
2Tedae tonghma Jeremiah kut lamloh a thui BOEIPA ol te amah neh a sal rhoek neh khohmuen pilnam loh a hnatun moenih.
2But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land did obey the words of the Lord, that he spoke in the hand of Jeremias the prophet.
3Manghai Zedekiah loh Shelemiah capa Jehukal neh khosoih Maaseiah capa Zephaniah te tonghma Jeremiah taengla a tueih tih, “Mamih kah Pathen BOEIPA taengah kaimih ham thangthui laeh,” a ti nah.
3And king Sedecias sent Juchal the son of Selemias, and Sophonias the son of Maasias the priest to Jeremias the prophet, saying: Pray to the Lord our God for us.
4Te vaengah anih te im kah thongim, thongim ah a khueh uh pawt dongah Jeremiah te pilnam lakli ah mop tih pongpa pueng.
4Now Jeremias walked freely in the midst of the people: for they had not as yet cast him into prison. And the army of Pharao was come out of Egypt: and the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem, hearing these tidings, departed from Jerusalem.
5Te vaengah Pharaoh kah tatthai rhoek he Egypt lamloh ha pawk uh. Tedae a olthang te Jerusalem aka dum Khalden rhoek loh a yaak vaengah Khalden rhoek te Jerusalem lamloh nong uh.
5And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias the prophet, saying:
6Te vaengah BOEIPA ol te tonghma Jeremiah taengla ha pawk tih,
6Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel: Thus shall you say to the king of Juda, who sent you to inquire of me: Behold the army of Pharao, which is come forth to help you, shall return into their own land, into Egypt.
7Israel Pathen BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Kai loepdak ham kai nan tueih coeng lah ko, Judah manghai te he thui he pah. Nangmih taengah bomnah ham Pharaoh kah tatthai ha pawk dae amah Egypt kho la mael ni ne.
7And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
8Te vaengah Khalden rhoek ha pawk vetih he khopuei he a vathoh thil ni. A tuuk vetih hmai neh a hlup ni.
8Thus saith the Lord: Deceive not your souls, saying: The Chaldeans shall surely depart and go away from us: for they shall not go away;
9BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. Khalden he kaimih taeng lamloh nong nong bitni a ti neh na hinglu te rhaithi boeh. Nong mahpawh.
9But if you should even beat all the army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there should be left of them some wounded men: they shall rise up, every man from his tent, and burn this city with Are.
10Khalden caem te na vathoh thil tih boeih na ngawn khoem mai cakhaw amih hlang he sueng pueng. A dap khuikah a thun hlang pataeng thoo vetih he khopuei he hmai neh a hoeh ni.
10Now when the army of the Chaldeans was gone away from Jerusalem, because of Pharao’s army,
11Pharaoh caem hmai ah Khalden caem khaw Jerusalem lamloh nong uh.
11Jeremias went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin: and to divide a possession there in the presence of the citizens.
12Te dongah Jeremiah Jerusalem lamloh nong tih pilnam lakli ah buhvae pahoi duen ham Benjamin kho la cet.
12And when he was come to the gate of Benjamin, the captain of the gate, who I was there in his turn, was one named Jerias, the son of Selemias, the son of Hananias: and he took hold of Jeremias the prophet, saying: Thou art fleeing to the Chaldeans.
13Tedae Benjamin vongka ah Hananiah koca Shelemiah capa, a ming ah rhaltoeng boei Irijah te tapkhoeh om. Te dongah tonghma Jeremiah te a tuuk tih, “Khalden taengla na cungku aya?,” a ti nah.
13And Jeremias answered: It is not so, I am not fleeing to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him: so Jerias took Jeremias and brought him to the princes.
14Jeremiah loh, “A poeyoek la, Khalden taengah ka cungku mahpawh,” a ti nah. Tedae anih taengkah te a hnatun pawt dongah Irijah loh Jeremiah te a tuuk tih mangpa rhoek taegla a thak.
14Wherefore the princes were angry with Jeremias, and they beat him, and cast him into the prison that was in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for he was chief over the prison.
15Mangpa rhoek te Jeremiah taengah a thintoek uh. Te dongah amah te a boh uh tih cadaek Jonathan im kah thongim imkhui ah a khueh uh. Te vaengah anih im te thongim la a saii uh.
15So Jeremias went into the house of the prison, and into the dungeon: and Jeremias remained there many days.
16Te dongah Jeremiah te tangrhom im khuila pawk tih airhol khuiah khaw Jeremiah he khohnin a yet hnap om.
16Then Sedecias the king, sending, took him: and asked him secretly in his house, and said: Is there, thinkest thou, any word from the Lord? And Jeremias said: There is. And he said: Thou shalt be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon.
17Te phoeiah manghai Zedekiah loh a tah tih anih te a khuen pah. Anih te manghai loh amah im ah a huep la a dawt tih, “BOEIPA taeng lamkah ol om a te?” a ti nah. Jeremiah loh a doo tih, “Babylon manghai kut dongla m'paek ni,” a ti nah.
17And Jeremias said to king Sedecias: In what have I offended against thee, or thy servants, or thy people, that thou hast cast me into prison?
18Jeremiah loh manghai Zedekiah taengah, “Thongim imkhui ah kai nan khueh ham akhaw nang taeng neh na sal rhoek taengah, he pilnam taengah balae ka tholh,
18Where are your prophets that prophesied to you, and said: The king of Babylon shall not come against you, and against this land?
19Namah taengah tonghma uh tih, 'Babylon manghai loh namah neh he khohmuen khaw, vathoh thil mahpawh,’ aka ti na tonghma rhoek te ta melae me?
19Now therefore hear, I beseech thee, my lord the king: let my petition be accepted in thy sight: and send me not back into the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
20Tedae ka boei manghai aw hnatun mai dae lamtah kai kah lungmacil he na mikhmuh ah thoeng laeh saeh. Kai he cadaek Jonathan imkhui la nan mael sak pawt daengah ni pahoi ka duek pawt eh?,” a ti nah.
20Then king Sedecias commanded that Jeremias should be committed into the entry of the prison: and that they should give him daily a piece of bread, beside broth, till all the bread in the city were spent: and Jeremias remained in the entry of the prison.
21Te dongah manghai Zedekiah loh auen tih Jeremiah te thongim vongup ah a khueh. Anih te hnin at ah buh hluem te kholong buh thong taeng lamloh khopuei lamkah buh boeih a cung duela a paek. Jeremiah khaw thongim vongup ah kho a sak.
