1If there be a controversy between men, and they call upon the judges: they shall give the prize of justice to him whom they perceive to be just: and him whom they find to be wicked, they shall condemn of wickedness.
1Vznikla-li by jaká nesnáz mezi některými, a přistoupili by k soudu, aby je rozsoudili, tedy spravedlivého ospravedlní, a nepravého odsoudí.
2And if they see that the offender be worthy of stripes: they shall lay him down, and shall cause him to be beaten before them. According to the measure of the sin shall the measure also of the stripes be:
2Bude-li pak hoden mrskání nepravý, tedy káže ho položiti soudce a mrskati před sebou, vedlé nepravosti jeho v jistý počet ran.
3Yet so, that they exceed not the number of forty: lest thy brother depart shamefully torn before thy eyes.
3Ètyřidcetikrát káže ho mrštiti, aniž přidá více, aby, jestliže by jej nadto mrskal ranami mnohými, nebyl příliš zlehčen bratr tvůj před očima tvýma.
4Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out thy corn on the floor.
4Nezavížeš úst vola mlátícího.
5When brethren dwell together, and one of them dieth without children, the wife of the deceased shall not marry to another: but his brother shall take her, and raise up seed for his brother:
5Když by bratří spolu bydlili, a umřel by jeden z nich, nemaje syna, nevdá se ven žena toho mrtvého za jiného muže; bratr jeho vejde k ní, a vezme ji sobě za manželku, a právem švagrovství přižení se k ní.
6And the first son he shall have of her he shall call by his name, that his name be not abolished out of Israel.
6Prvorozený pak, kteréhož by porodila, nazván bude jménem bratra jeho mrtvého, aby nebylo vyhlazeno jméno jeho z Izraele.
7But if he will not take his brother’s wife, who by law belongeth to him, the woman shall go to the gate of the city, and call upon the ancients, and say: My husband’s brother refuseth to raise up his brother’s name in Israel: and will not take me to wife.
7Nechtěl-li by pak muž ten pojíti příbuzné své, tedy přijde příbuzná jeho k bráně před starší a řekne: Nechce příbuzný můj vzbuditi bratru svému jména v Izraeli, a nechce podlé práva švagrovství pojíti mne.
8And they shall cause him to be sent for forthwith, and shall ask him. If he answer: I will not take her to wife:
8Tedy povolají ho starší města toho, a mluviti budou s ním; a stoje, řekl-li by: Nechci jí pojíti,
9The woman shall come to him before the ancients, and shall take off his shoe from his foot, and spit in his face, and say: So shall it be done to the man that will not build up his brother’s house:
9Přistoupí příbuzná jeho k němu před staršími, a szuje střevíc jeho s nohy jeho, a pline mu na tvář a odpoví, řkuci: Tak se má státi muži tomu, kterýž by nechtěl vzdělati domu bratra svého.
10And his name shall be called in Israel, the house of the unshod.
10I bude nazváno jméno jeho v Izraeli: Dům bosého.
11If two men have words together, and one begin to fight against the other, and the other’s wife willing to deliver her husband out of the hand of the stronger, shall put forth her hand, and take him by the secrets,
11Když by se svadili někteří spolu jeden s druhým, a přistoupila by žena jednoho, aby vysvobodila muže svého z ruky bijícího jej, i vztáhla by ruku svou a uchopila by ho za lůno:
12Thou shalt cut off her hand, neither shalt thou be moved with any pity in her regard.
12Tedy utneš ruku její, neslituje se nad ní oko tvé.
13Thou shalt not have divers weights in thy bag, a greater and a less:
13Nebudeš míti v pytlíku svém nejednostejného kamene, většího a menšího.
14Neither shall there be in thy house a greater bushel and a less.
14Aniž budeš míti v domě svém nejednostejného korce, většího a menšího.
15Thou shalt have a just and a true weight, and thy bushel shall be equal and true: that thou mayest live a long time upon the land which the Lord thy God shall give thee.
15Váhu celou a spravedlivou míti budeš, též míru celou a spravedlivou budeš míti, aby se prodlili dnové tvoji v zemi, kterouž Hospodin Bůh tvůj dává tobě.
16For the Lord thy God abhorreth him that doth these things, and he hateth all injustice.
16Nebo v ohavnosti jest Hospodinu Bohu tvému, kdožkoli činí ty věci, všeliký činící nepravost.
17Remember what Amalec did to thee in the way when thou camest out of Egypt:
17Pamatuj na to, coť učinil Amalech na cestě, když jste šli z Egypta:
18How he met thee: and slew the hindmost of the army, who sat down, being weary, when thou wast spent with hunger and labour, and he feared not God.
18Kterak vyšed tobě v cestu, zadní houf tvůj všech mdlých, kteříž šli za tebou, pobil, když jsi ty byl zemdlený a ustalý, a nebál se Boha.
19Therefore when the Lord thy God shall give thee rest, and shall have subdued all the nations round about in the land which he hath promised thee: thou shalt blot out his name from under heaven. See thou forget it not.
19Protož když byl Hospodin Bůh tvůj dal tobě odpočinutí ode všech nepřátel tvých vůkol v zemi, kterouž Hospodin Bůh tvůj dává tobě v dědictví, abys dědičně obdržel ji, vyhladíš památku Amalecha pod nebem; nezapomínejž na to.
