Coptic New Testament
1For I would have you know, what manner of care I have for you and for them that are at Laodicea, and whosoever have not seen my face in the flesh:
1ϯⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲑⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲅⲱⲛ ⳿ⲛⲁϣ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲓⲏ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲏⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ ⲗⲁⲟⲇⲓⲕⲓⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉⲡⲁϩⲟ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲥⲁⲣⲝ.
2That their hearts may be comforted, being instructed in charity, and unto all riches of fulness of understanding, unto the knowledge of the mystery of God the Father and of Christ Jesus:
2ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉϫⲉⲙⲛⲟⲙϯ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲟⲩϩⲏⲧ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲧⲥⲁⲃⲏ ⲟⲩⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩϩⲓⲟⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲣⲁⲙⲁ⳿ⲟ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲫⲙⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϥⲕⲁϯ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡⲥⲟⲩⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲙⲩⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⳿ⲫⲓⲱⲧ ⳿ⲙⲠⲭ̅ⲥ̅.
3In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
3ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲁϩⲱⲣ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯ ⲥⲟⲫⲓⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⲉⲧϩⲏⲡ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ.
4Now this I say, that no man may deceive you by loftiness of words.
4ⲫⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ϯϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⲉⲣϩⲁⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲉⲥⲱⲟⲩ.
5For though I be absent in body, yet in spirit I am with you; rejoicing, and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith which is in Christ.
5ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ϯ ⲛⲉⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲁⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϯ ⲛⲉⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ⲉⲓⲣⲁϣⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲓⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲁⲝⲓⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲧⲁϫⲣⲟ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁϩϯ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅.
6As therefore you have received Jesus Christ the Lord, walk ye in him;
6⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲧⲁⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϭⲓ ⳿ⲙⲠⲭ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ⲙⲟϣⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ.
7Rooted and built up in him, and confirmed in the faith, as also you have learned, abounding in him in thanksgiving.
7ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϭⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲛⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲕⲱⲧ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲁϫⲣⲏ ⲟⲩⲧ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲁⲩ⳿ⲧⲥⲁⲃⲉ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲟ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩϣⲉⲡ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ.
8Beware lest any man cheat you by philosophy, and vain deceit; according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ:
8⳿ⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲏⲡⲱⲥ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲕⲱⲗⲡ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲫⲓⲗⲟⲥⲟⲫⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲁⲡⲁⲧⲏ ⲉⲥϣⲟⲩⲓⲧ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲛⲓⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲟⲥⲓⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲥⲧⲟⲓⲭⲓⲱⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲁⲛ.
9For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead corporeally;
9ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ ⳿ϥϣⲟⲡ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲙⲟϩ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲥⲱⲙⲁⲧⲓⲕⲱⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲙⲉϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ.
10And you are filled in him, who is the head of all principality and power:
10ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲧⲁⲫⲉ ⳿ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲏ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲉⲝⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.
11In whom also you are circumcised with circumcision not made by hand, in despoiling of the body of the flesh, but in the circumcision of Christ:
11ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲥⲟⲩⲃⲉ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲉⲃⲓ ⳿ⲛⲑⲁⲙⲓⲟ ⳿ⲛϫⲓϫ ⲁⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲃⲱϣ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲉⲃⲓ ⳿ⲙⲠⲭ̅ⲥ̅.
12Buried with him in baptism, in whom also you are risen again by the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him up from the dead.
12⳿ⲉⲁⲩⲕⲉⲥ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲱⲙⲥ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ⲟⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲉⲣϩⲱⲃ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲙⲱⲟⲩⲧ.
13And you, when you were dead in your sins, and the uncircumcision of your flesh; he hath quickened together with him, forgiving you all offences:
13ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲙⲱⲟⲩⲧ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲡⲁⲣⲁⲡⲧⲱⲙⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯ ⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧⲥⲉⲃⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲛϧⲉ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ⳿ⲉⲁϥⲭⲱ ⲛⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲡⲁⲣⲁ⳿ⲡⲧⲱⲙⲁ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ.
14Blotting out the handwriting of the decree that was against us, which was contrary to us. And he hath taken the same out of the way, fastening it to the cross:
14⳿ⲉⲁϥⲥⲱⲗϫ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓ⳿ⲥϧⲓ ⳿ⲛϫⲓϫ ⲫⲁⲓ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁϥⲧⲟⲓ ϧⲁⲣⲟⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲇⲟⲅⲙⲁ ⲫⲏ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁϥϯ ⲟⲩⲃⲏⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⲁϥⲟⲗϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲑⲙⲏϯ ⳿ⲉⲁϥϯⲓϥⲧ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓ.̇
15And despoiling the principalities and powers, he hath exposed them confidently in open shew, triumphing over them in himself.
15⳿ⲉⲁϥⲃⲁϣϥ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲁⲣⲭⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲉⲝⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⳿ⲉⲁϥϯ ⳿ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲥⲱⲓⲧ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟⲩⲟⲛϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲉⲁϥⲁⲓⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥⲣⲁϩ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ.
16Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink, or in respect of a festival day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbaths,
16⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛ⳿ⲑⲣⲉ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⲟⲩⲛ ϯϩⲁⲡ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲥⲱ ⲓⲉ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲧⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲟⲩϣⲁⲓ ⲓⲉ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲓⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϩⲁⲛⲥⲁⲃⲃⲁⲧⲟⲛ.
17Which are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ.
17ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲧϧⲏⲓⲃⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲉⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅.
18Let no man seduce you, willing in humility, and religion of angels, walking in the things which he hath not seen, in vain puffed up by the sense of his flesh,
18⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛ⳿ⲑⲣⲉ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ϭⲣⲟ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲑⲉⲃⲓⲟ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲁϥϩⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⲉϥϭⲟⲥⲓ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ϩⲓⲕⲏ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡϩⲏⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲧⲉϥⲥⲁⲣⲝ.
19And not holding the head, from which the whole body, by joints and bands, being supplied with nourishment and compacted, groweth unto the increase of God.
19ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ϥ⳿ⲁⲙⲟⲛⲓ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛϯⲁⲫⲉ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲩⲥⲁϩⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲙⲟϯ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲥⲛⲁⲩϩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲩ⳿ϫⲫⲟ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ϥⲛⲁⲁⲓⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲁⲓⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ.
20If then you be dead with Christ from the elements of this world, why do you yet decree as though living in the world?
20ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲁ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲥⲧⲟⲓⲭⲓⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲁϧⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲱⲡ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲉⲩⲱⲛϧ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ.
21Touch not, taste not, handle not:
21⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣϭⲓ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣϭⲓϯⲡⲓ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣϧⲱⲛⲧ.
22Which all are unto destruction by the very use, according to the precepts and doctrines of men.
22⳿ⲉϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧⲭⲏ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡⲧⲁⲕⲟ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙⲉⲣ⳿ⲭ ⲣⲁⲥⲑⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲛⲓϩⲟⲛϩⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲣⲉϥϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ.
23Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in superstition and humility, and not sparing the body; not in any honour to the filling of the flesh.
23ⲉⲧⲉ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲙⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲟⲩⲱϣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲟⲩϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲑⲉⲃⲓⲟ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧϯ ⲁⲥⲟ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓⲥⲱⲙⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⲁⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲧⲥⲁⲣⲝ
