1And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold Siba the servant of Miphiboseth came to meet him with two asses, laden with two hundred loaves of bread, and a hundred bunches of raisins, a hundred cakes of figs, and a vessel of wine.
2And the king said to Siba: What mean these things? And Siba answered: The asses are for the king’s household to sit on: and the loaves and the figs for thy servants to eat, and the wine to drink if any man be faint in the desert.
2Pea naʻe pehē ʻe he tuʻi kia Sipa, “Ko e hā hono ʻuhinga ʻoe ngaahi meʻa ni?” Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Sipa, “Ko e ongo ʻasi ʻoku maʻae kakai ʻoe fale ʻoe tuʻi ke heka ki ai; pea ko e mā mo e fuaʻi ʻakau ʻoe faʻahitaʻu mafana, ko e meʻa ia ke kai ʻe he kau talavou; pea ko e uaine, ko e meʻa ia ke inu ai ʻakinautolu ʻe vaivai ʻi he toafa.”
3And the king said: Where is thy master’s son? And Siba answered the king: He remained in Jerusalem, saying: Today will the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.
3Pea naʻe pehē ʻe he tuʻi, “Pea kofaʻā ʻae foha ʻo hoʻo ʻeiki?” Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Sipa ki he tuʻi, “Vakai, ʻoku nofo ai pe ia ʻi Selūsalema: he naʻa ne pehē, Ko e ʻaho eni ʻe toe ʻomi kiate au ʻe he fale ʻo ʻIsileli ʻae puleʻanga ʻo ʻeku tamai.”
4And the king said to Siba: I give thee all that belonged to Miphiboseth. And Siba said: I beseech thee let me find grace before thee, my lord, O king.
4Pea naʻe toki pehē ai ʻe he tuʻi kia Sipa, “Vakai, ʻoku ʻaʻau ʻaia kotoa pē naʻe ʻia Mifiposeti.” Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Sipa, “ʻOku ou fakaʻapaʻapa kiate koe, pea tuku, ʻe tuʻi, ke ʻofeina au ʻi ho ʻao.”
5And king David came as far as Bahurim: and behold there came out from thence a man of the kindred of the house of Saul named Semei, the son of Gera, and coming out he cursed as he went on,
5¶ Pea ʻi heʻene hoko mai ʻae tuʻi ko Tevita ki Pahulimi, vakai, naʻe haʻu mei ai ha tangata mei he faʻahinga mo e fale ʻo Saula, ʻaia naʻe hingoa ko Simi, ko e foha ʻo Kela: pea naʻe haʻu pe ia, pea kape mai pe ʻi heʻene haʻu.
6And he threw stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people, and all the warriors walked on the right, and on the left side of the king.
6Pea naʻa ne lisingi ʻae ngaahi maka kia Tevita, pea ki he kau tamaioʻeiki kotoa pē ʻa Tevita ko e tuʻi: ka naʻe tutuʻu ʻae kakai kotoa pē, mo e kau tangata toʻa kotoa pē, ki hono nima toʻomataʻu mo hono toʻohema.
7And thus said Semei when he cursed the king: Come out, come out, thou man of blood, and thou man of Belial.
7Pea naʻe pehē ʻae lea ʻa Simi ʻi heʻene kape, “Hū mai, hū mai, ʻa koe ko e tangata pani toto, pea ko koe ko e tangata ʻoe angakovi:
8The Lord hath repaid thee for all the blood of the house of Saul: because thou hast usurped the kingdom in his stead, and the Lord hath given the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and behold thy evils press upon thee, because thou art a man of blood.
8Kuo toe totongi kiate koe ʻe Sihova ʻae toto kotoa pē ʻoe fale ʻo Saula, ʻaia kuo ke fetongi ʻi he pule; pea kuo tuku ʻe Sihova ʻae puleʻanga ki he nima ʻo ʻApisalomi ko ho foha: pea vakai, kuo moʻua koe ʻi hoʻo kovi, koeʻuhi ko e tangata pani toto koe.”
9And Abisai the son of Sarvia said to the king: Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? I will go, and cut off his head.
9¶ Pea naʻe toki pehē ai ʻe ʻApisai ko e tama ʻo Seluia ki he tuʻi, “Ko e hā ʻe tuku ke kape ai ʻae kulī mate ni ki hoku ʻeiki ko e tuʻi? ʻOku ou kole kiate koe, tuku au ke u ʻalu atu ʻo tuʻusi ʻa hono ʻulu.”
10And the king said: What have I to do with you, ye sons of Sarvia? Let him alone and let him curse: for the Lord hath bid him curse David: and who is he that shall dare say, why hath he done so?
10Pea naʻe pehē ʻe he tuʻi, “Ko e hā au kiate kimoutolu, ʻae ngaahi tama ʻo Seluia? Tuku pe ke ne kape mai, he kuo pehē ʻe Sihova kiate ia, Kape kia Tevita. Pea ka kuo pehē, ko hai ʻe pehē atu , Ko e hā kuo ke fai pehē ai?”
11And the king said to Abisai, and to all his servants: Behold my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now a son of Jemini? let him alone that he may curse as the Lord hath bidden him.
11Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita kia ʻApisai, “Pea mo ʻene kau tamaioʻeiki kotoa pē, Vakai, ko hoku foha ʻaia naʻe haʻu mei hoku fatu, ʻoku kumi ki heʻeku moʻui: pea ka kuo pehē ʻikai ʻe ngofua hake ke fai ia ʻe he tangata Penisimani ni? Tuku noa ai pe ia, pea tuku pe ke ne kape he kuo fekau ia ʻe Sihova.
12Perhaps the Lord may look upon my affliction, and the Lord may render me good for the cursing of this day.
12Heiʻilo ʻe ʻafio ʻe Sihova ki heʻeku mamahi, pea totongi lelei au ʻe Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene kape kiate au he ʻaho ni.”
13And David and his men with him went by the way. And Semei by the hill’s side went over against him, cursing, and casting stones at him, and scattering earth.
13Pea ʻi heʻene ʻalu atu ʻa Tevita pea mo ʻene kau tangata ʻi he hala, naʻe ʻalu atu ʻa Simi ʻi he tahifohifo ʻoe moʻunga, ʻo feʻunga atu mo ia, pea naʻa ne kape pe mo ʻalu, pea ne lisi ʻae ngaahi maka kiate ia, mo ne laku ʻae efu kiate ia .
14And the king and all the people with him came weary, and refreshed themselves there.
14Pea ko e tuʻi, pea mo e kakai kotoa pē naʻe ʻiate ia, naʻa nau omi ki he potu ko ia, ke mālōlō ai, he kuo nau ongosia.
15But Absalom and all his people came into Jerusalem, and Achitophel was with him.
15¶ Pea naʻe hoko mai ki Selūsalema, ʻa ʻApisalomi pea mo e kakai tangata kotoa pē ʻo ʻIsileli, pea naʻe ʻalu mo ia ʻa ʻAhitofeli.
16And when Chusai the Arachite, David’s friend, was come to Absalom, he said to him: God save thee, O king, God save thee, O king.
16Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻi heʻene hoko mai kia ʻApisalomi ʻa Husai ko e tangata ʻAliki, ko e kāinga ʻo Tevita, naʻe pehē ʻe Husai kia ʻApisalomi, “Ke moʻui ʻae tuʻi, ke moʻui ʻae tuʻi.”
17And Absalom said to him: Is this thy kindness to thy friend? Why wentest thou not with thy friend?
17Pea naʻe pehē ʻe ʻApisalomi kia Husai, “Ko hoʻo ʻofa eni ki ho kāinga? Ko e hā naʻe ʻikai te ke ʻalu ai mo ho kāinga?”
18And Chusai answered Absalom: Nay: for I will be his, whom the Lord hath chosen, and all this people, and all Israel, and with him will I abide.
18Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Husai kia ʻApisalomi, “ʻIkai; ka ko ia ʻoku fili ʻe Sihova, pea mo e kakai ni, pea mo e kau tangata kotoa pē ʻo ʻIsileli, te u kau mo ia, pea ko ia pe te u nofo ki ai.
19Besides this, whom shall I serve? is it not the king’s son? as I have served thy father, so will I serve thee also.
19Pea ko hai foki ʻoku totonu ke u tauhi ki ai? ʻIkai ʻi he ʻao ʻo hono foha? ʻO hangē ko ʻeku tauhi ʻi he ʻao ʻo hoʻo tamai, te u pehē foki au ʻi ho ʻao ʻoʻou.”
20And Absalom said to Achitophel: Consult what we are to do.
20¶ Hili ia naʻe pehē ʻe ʻApisalomi kia ʻAhitofeli, “Mou fakakaukau ʻiate kimoutolu pe ko e hā te tau fai.”
21And Achitophel said to Absalom: Go in to the concubines of thy father, whom he hath left to keep the house: that when all Israel shall hear that thou hast disgraced thy father, their hands may be strengthened with thee.
22So they spread a tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and he went in to his father’s concubines before all Israel.
22Ko ia naʻa nau folahi atu ai ha fale tupenu ʻi he tuʻa fale ki ʻolunga: pea naʻe hū atu ki ai ʻa ʻApisalomi ki he sinifu ʻo ʻene tamai ʻi he ʻao ʻo ʻIsileli kotoa pē.
23Now the counsel of Achitophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man should consult God: so was all the counsel of Achitophel, both when he was with David, and when he was with Absalom.
23Pea ko e fakakaukau ʻa ʻAhitofeli ʻaia naʻa ne fai ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ko ia, naʻe hangē ko e ʻeke ʻe ha tangata ki he folofola ʻae ʻOtua: naʻe pehē pe ʻae fakakaukau ʻa ʻAhitofeli kia Tevita pea mo ʻApisalomi fakatouʻosi.
