Coptic New Testament
Douay-Rheims Bible, American Edition (1899)
1⳿ⲛⲑⲟⲕ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲡⲁϣⲏⲣⲓ ϫⲉⲙⲛⲟⲙϯ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅.
1Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace which is in Christ Jesus:
2ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁⲕⲥⲟⲑⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲙⲙⲉⲑⲣⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲭⲁⲩ ϧⲁⲧⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲑⲛⲁ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⳿ⲛϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲕⲉⲭⲱⲟⲩⲛⲓ.
2And the things which thou hast heard of me by many witnesses, the same commend to faithful men, who shall be fit to teach others also.
3ⲁⲣⲓ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣ ⳿ⲛϣⲉⲡ⳿ⲙⲕⲁϩ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲁⲧⲟⲓ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅.
3Labour as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
4⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲉ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⲉϥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲧⲟⲓ ϭⲗⲉⲙⲗⲱⲙϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓ⳿ϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲛϧ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥⲣⲁⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲙⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁϥϧⲟⲕϥ.
4No man, being a soldier to God, entangleth himself with secular businesses; that he may please him to whom he hath engaged himself.
5ⲉϣⲱⲡ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲣⲉϣⲁⲛ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ϣⲉ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲫⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛϯ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁϥϭⲓ⳿ⲭⲗⲟⲙ ⲁϥ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲙⲓⲙⲟⲥ.
5For he also that striveth for the mastery, is not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
6ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲱⲓ ⲉⲧϧⲟⲥⲓ ϩⲱϯ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥϭⲓ ⳿ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲧⲁϩ.
6The husbandman, that laboureth, must first partake of the fruits.
7ⲕⲁϯ ⳿ⲉⲛⲏ ⳿ⲉϯϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ Ⲡ⳪ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉϯ ⲛⲁⲕ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.
7Understand what I say: for the Lord will give thee in all things understanding.
8ⲁⲣⲓ⳿ⲫⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⳿ⲛⲒⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲧⲱⲛϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲙⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡ⳿ϫⲣⲟϫ ⳿ⲛⲇⲁⲩⲓⲇ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲁⲉⲩⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲓⲟⲛ.
8Be mindful that the Lord Jesus Christ is risen again from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel.
9ⲫⲁⲓ ⳿ⲉϯϭⲓ⳿ⲙⲕⲁϩ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ ϣⲁ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉϩⲁⲛ⳿ⲥⲛⲁⲩϩ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲣⲉϥⲉⲣⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⳿ⲡⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⲥⲟⲛϩ ⲁⲛ.
9Wherein I labour even unto bands, as an evildoer; but the word of God is not bound.
10ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲫⲁⲓ ϯⲉⲣϩⲩⲡⲟⲙⲉⲛⲓⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲛⲓⲥⲱⲧⲡ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲧⲟⲧⲟⲩ ϭⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲉⲛⲉϩ.
10Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation, which is in Christ Jesus, with heavenly glory.
11⳿ϥⲉⲛϩⲟⲧ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⳿ⲡⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ⲓⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁⲱⲛϧ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ⲟⲛ.
11A faithful saying: for if we be dead with him, we shall live also with him.
12ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁⲉⲣϩⲩⲡⲟⲙⲉⲛⲓⲛ ⲓⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁⲉⲣⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ⲟⲛ ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁϫⲟⲗϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ϩⲱϥ ⳿ϥⲛⲁϫⲟⲗⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
12If we suffer, we shall also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny us.
13ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁⲉⲣⲁⲑⲛⲁϩϯ ⲫⲏ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⳿ϥⲛⲁⲟϩⲓ ⲉϥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⳿ϣϫⲟⲙ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥϫⲟⲗϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲧϥ.
13If we believe not, he continueth faithful, he can not deny himself.
14ⲙⲁ⳿ⲫⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲕⲉⲣⲙⲉⲑⲣⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉ⳿ⲙⲑⲟ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙ⳿ⲙⲗⲁϧ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⳿ⲛϩⲱⲃ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ϩⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧⲕ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲱϫⲡ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲧⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ.
14Of these things put them in mind, charging them before the Lord. Contend not in words, for it is to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15ⲓⲏⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲕ ⳿ⲉⲧⲁϩⲟⲕ ⳿ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲕ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲱⲧⲡ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲉⲣⲅⲁⲧⲏⲥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁϥϭⲓϣⲓⲡⲓ ⲉⲕϣⲱⲧ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲛϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲱⲟⲩⲧⲉⲛ.
15Carefully study to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
16ⲛⲓ⳿ⲥⲙⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲥⲟϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧϣⲟⲩⲓⲧ ϩⲉⲛⲕ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲟ ⲅⲁⲣ ϣⲁⲩⲉⲣ⳿ⲡⲣⲟⲕⲟⲡⲧⲓⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲁⲥⲉⲃⲏⲥ.
16But shun profane and vain babblings: for they grow much towards ungodliness.
17ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲁϫⲓ ϣⲁϥϫⲉⲙⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛⲙⲟⲛⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲁⲙⲉϯ ⲉⲥⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛϧⲏ ⲧⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ ϩⲩⲙⲉⲛⲉⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲫⲩⲗⲉⲧⲟⲥ.
17And their speech spreadeth like a canker: of whom are Hymeneus and Philetus:
18ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲟⲩϯⲙⲁϯ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ϩⲏⲇⲏ ⲁ ⳿ⲧⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲁⲥⲟⲩⲱ ⲁⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲥⲉⲫⲱⲛϩ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϩⲁⲛⲕⲉⲭⲱⲟⲩⲛⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
18Who have erred from the truth, saying, that the resurrection is past already, and have subverted the faith of some.
19ϯⲥⲉⲛϯ ⲙⲉⲛⲧⲟⲓ ⲉⲧⲧⲁϫⲣⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⲥⲟϩⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲥ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲁⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁⲓ⳿ⲥ⳿ⲫⲣⲁⲅⲓⲥ ⲁ Ⲡ⳪ ⲥⲟⲩⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲩϩⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲥⲁⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϭⲓ⳿ⲛϫⲟⲛⲥ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧϫⲱ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲁⲛ ⳿ⲙⲠ⳪.
19But the sure foundation of God standeth firm, having this seal: the Lord knoweth who are his; and let every one depart from iniquity who nameth the name of the Lord.
20ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲏⲓ ϩⲁⲛ⳿ⲥⲕⲉⲩⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲃ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛϩⲁⲧ ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲛϧⲏ ⲧϥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲕⲉϣⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛⲃⲉⲗϫ ϩⲁⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲉⲩⲭⲏ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡⲧⲁⲓ⳿ⲟ ϩⲁⲛⲕⲉⲭⲱⲟⲩⲛⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲩⲭⲏ ⲉⲩϣⲱϣ.
20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and earth: and some indeed unto honour, but some unto dishonour.
21ⲉϣⲱⲡ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲣⲉϣⲁⲛ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟϥ ⲥⲁⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛⲛⲁⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲕⲉⲩⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡⲧⲁⲓ⳿ⲟ ⲉϥⲧⲟⲩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲉϥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛϣⲁⲩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥⲛⲏⲃ ⲉϥⲥⲉⲃⲧⲱⲧ ⳿ⲉϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲛⲉⲩ.
21If any man therefore shall cleanse himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and profitable to the Lord, prepared unto every good work.
22ⲛⲓⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲓⲁ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲁⲗⲟⲩ ϩⲉⲛⲕ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ϭⲟϫⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ϯⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ ϯϩⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧⲱϣ ⲟⲩⲃⲉ ⳿ⲫⲣⲁⲛ ⳿ⲙⲠ⳪ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩϩⲏⲧ ⲉϥⲧⲟⲩⲃⲏ ⲟⲩⲧ.
22But flee thou youthful desires, and pursue justice, faith, charity, and peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23ⲛⲓⲕⲱϯ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲉⲧⲥⲟϫ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ϩⲉⲛⲕ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲕ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉⲫⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ϣⲁⲩ⳿ϫⲫⲉ ϩⲁⲛϣⲱⲛⲧ.
23And avoid foolish and unlearned questions, knowing that they beget strifes.
24ⲟⲩⲃⲱⲕ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ Ⲡ⳪ ⳿ⲥϣⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲑⲣⲉϥ⳿ⲙⲗⲁϧ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉϥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲣⲉⲙⲣⲁⲩϣ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛⲣⲉϥ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⳿ⲛⲣⲉϥⲉⲣⲁⲛⲉⲭ ⲉⲥⲑⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ.
24But the servant of the Lord must not wrangle: but be mild towards all men, apt to teach, patient,
25ⲉϥϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲣⲉⲙⲣⲁⲩϣ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲧϯ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲁϥ ⲧⲁⲭⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ϯ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲁⲛⲟⲓ⳿ⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲑⲣⲟⲩⲥⲟⲩⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ.
25With modesty admonishing them that resist the truth: if peradventure God may give them repentance to know the truth,
26ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲩⲉⲣⲛⲩⲙⲫⲓⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲁ ⲡⲓⲫⲁϣ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁ ⲡⲓⲇⲓⲁⲃⲟⲗⲟⲥ ϫⲟⲣϫϥ ⲉⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲣⲁⲟⲩⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲧϥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲉϩⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲙⲫⲏ
26And they may recover themselves from the snares of the devil, by whom they are held captive at his will.
