1扫罗 家和 大卫 家争战许久。 大卫 家日见强盛； 扫罗 家日见衰弱。
1Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: David prospering and growing always stronger and stronger, but the house of Saul decaying daily.
2大卫 在 希伯 得了几个儿子：长子 暗嫩 是 耶斯列 人 亚希暖 所生的；
2And sons were born to David in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon of Achinoam the Jezrahelitess:
3次子 基利押 是作过 迦密 人 拿八 的妻 亚比该 所生的；三子 押沙龙 是 基述 王 达买 的女儿 玛迦 所生的；
3And his second Cheleab of Abigail the wife of Nabal of Carmel: and the third Absalom the son of Maacha the daughter of Tholmai king of Gessur:
4四子 亚多尼雅 是 哈及 所生的；五子 示法提雅 是 亚比她 所生的；
4And the fourth Adonias, the son of Haggith: and the fifth Saphathia the son of Abital:
5六子 以特念 是 大卫 的妻 以格拉 所生的。 大卫 这六个儿子都是在 希伯 生的。
5And the sixth Jethraam of Egla the wife of David: these were born to David in Hebron.
6扫罗 家和 大卫 家争战的时候， 押尼珥 在 扫罗 家大有权势。
6Now while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, Abner the son of Ner ruled the house of Saul.
7扫罗 有一妃嫔，名叫 利斯巴 ，是 爱亚 的女儿。一日， 伊施波设 对 押尼珥 说：「你为什么与我父的妃嫔同房呢？」
7And Saul had a concubine named Respha, the daughter of Aia. And Isboseth said to Abner:
8押尼珥 因 伊施波设 的话就甚发怒，说：「我岂是 犹大 的狗头呢？我恩待你父 扫罗 的家和他的弟兄、朋友，不将你交在 大卫 手里，今日你竟为这妇人责备我吗？
8Why didst thou go in to my father’s concubine? And he was exceedingly angry for the words of Isboseth, and said: Am I a dog’s head against Juda this day, who have shewn mercy to the house of Saul thy father, and to his brethren and friends, and have not delivered thee into the hands of David, and hast thou sought this day against me to charge me with a matter concerning a woman?
9我若不照着耶和华起誓应许 大卫 的话行，废去 扫罗 的位，建立 大卫 的位，使他治理 以色列 和 犹大 ，从 但 直到 别是巴 ，愿 神重重地降罚与我！」
9So do God to Abner, and more also, unless as the Lord hath sworn to David, so I do to him,

10That the kingdom be translated from the house of Saul, and the throne of David be set up over Israel, and over Juda from Dan to Bersabee.
11伊施波设 惧怕 押尼珥 ，不敢回答一句。
11And he could not answer him a word, because he feared him.
12押尼珥 打发人去见 大卫 ，替他说：「这国归谁呢？」又说：「你与我立约，我必帮助你，使 以色列 人都归服你。」
12Abner therefore sent messengers to David for himself, saying: Whose is the land? and that they should say: Make a league with me, and my hand shall be with thee: and I will bring all Israel to thee.
13大卫 说：「好！我与你立约。但有一件，你来见我面的时候，若不将 扫罗 的女儿 米甲 带来，必不得见我的面。」
13And he said: Very well: I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, saying: Thou shalt not see my face before thou bring Michol the daughter of Saul: and so thou shalt come, and see me.
14大卫 就打发人去见 扫罗 的儿子 伊施波设 ，说：「你要将我的妻 米甲 归还我；她是我从前用一百 非利士 人的阳皮所聘定的。」
14And David sent messengers to Isboseth the son of Saul, saying: Restore my wife Michol, whom I espoused to me for a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.
15伊施波设 就打发人去，将 米甲 从 拉亿 的儿子、她丈夫 帕铁 那里接回来。
15And Isboseth sent, and took her from her husband Phaltiel, the son of Lais.
16米甲 的丈夫跟着她，一面走一面哭，直跟到 巴户琳 。 押尼珥 说：「你回去吧！」 帕铁 就回去了。
16And her husband followed her, weeping as far as Bahurim: and Abner said to him: Go and return. And he returned.
17押尼珥 对 以色列 长老说：「从前你们愿意 大卫 作王治理你们，
17Abner also spoke to the ancients of Israel, saying: Both yesterday and the day before you sought for David that he might reign over you.
18现在你们可以照心愿而行。因为耶和华曾论到 大卫 说：『我必借我仆人 大卫 的手，救我民 以色列 脱离 非利士 人和众仇敌的手。』」
18Now then do it: because the Lord hath spoken to David, saying: By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel from the hands of the Philistines, and of all their enemies.
19押尼珥 也用这话说给 便雅悯 人听，又到 希伯 ，将 以色列 人和 便雅悯 全家一切所喜悦的事说给 大卫 听。
19And Abner spoke also to Benjamin. And he went to speak to David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and to all Benjamin.
20押尼珥 带着二十个人来到 希伯 见 大卫 ， 大卫 就为 押尼珥 和他带来的人设摆筵席。
20And he came to David in Hebron with twenty men: and David made a feast for Abner, and his men that came with him.
21押尼珥 对 大卫 说：「我要起身去招聚 以色列 众人来见我主我王，与你立约，你就可以照着心愿作王。」于是 大卫 送 押尼珥 去， 押尼珥 就平平安安地去了。
21And Abner said to David: I will rise, that I may gather all Israel unto thee my lord the king, and may enter into a league with thee, and that thou mayst reign over all as thy soul desireth. Now when David bad brought Abner on his way, and he was gone in peace,
22约押 和 大卫 的仆人攻击敌军，带回许多的掠物。那时 押尼珥 不在 希伯 大卫 那里，因 大卫 已经送他去，他也平平安安地去了。
22Immediately David’s servants and Joab came, after having slain the robbers, with an exceeding great booty: and Abner, was not with David in Hebron, for he had now sent him away, and he was gone in peace.
23约押 和跟随他的全军到了，就有人告诉 约押 说：「 尼珥 的儿子 押尼珥 来见王，王送他去，他也平平安安地去了。」
23And Joab and all the army that was with him, came afterwards: and it was told Joab, that Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.
24约押 去见王说：「你这是做什么呢？ 押尼珥 来见你，你为何送他去，他就踪影不见了呢？
24And Joab went in to the king, and said: What hast thou done? Behold Abner came to thee: Why didst thou send him away, and he is gone and departed?
25你当晓得， 尼珥 的儿子 押尼珥 来是要诓哄你，要知道你的出入和你一切所行的事。」
25Knowest thou not Abner the son of Ner, that to this end he came to thee, that he might deceive thee, and to know thy going out, and thy coming in, and to know all thou dost?
26约押 从 大卫 那里出来，就打发人去追赶 押尼珥 ，在 西拉井 追上他，将他带回来， 大卫 却不知道。
26Then Joab going out from David, sent messengers after Abner, and brought him back from the cistern of Sira, David knowing nothing of it.
27押尼珥 回到 希伯 ， 约押 领他到城门的瓮洞，假作要与他说机密话，就在那里刺透他的肚腹，他便死了。这是报杀他兄弟 亚撒黑 的仇。
27And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside to the middle of the gate, to speak to him treacherously: and he stabbed him there in the groin, and he died, in revenge of the blood of Asael his brother.
28大卫 听见了，就说：「流 尼珥 的儿子 押尼珥 的血，这罪在耶和华面前必永不归我和我的国。
28And when David heard of it, after the thing was now done, he said: I, and my kingdom are innocent before the Lord for ever of the blood of Abner the son of Ner:
29愿流他血的罪归到 约押 头上和他父的全家；又愿 约押 家不断有患漏症的，长大麻风的，架拐而行的，被刀杀死的，缺乏饮食的。」
29And may it come upon the head of Joab, and upon all his father’s house: and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue of seed, or that is a leper, or that holdeth the distaff, or that falleth by the sword, or that wanteth bread.
30约押 和他兄弟 亚比筛 杀了 押尼珥 ，是因 押尼珥 在 基遍 争战的时候杀了他们的兄弟 亚撒黑 。
30So Joab and Abisai his brother slew Abner, because he had killed their brother Asael at Gabaon in the battle.
31大卫 吩咐 约押 和跟随他的众人说：「你们当撕裂衣服，腰束麻布，在 押尼珥 棺 前哀哭。」 大卫 王也跟在棺后。
31And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him: Rend your garments, and gird yourselves with sackcloths, and mourn before the funeral of Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.
32他们将 押尼珥 葬在 希伯 。王在 押尼珥 的墓旁放声而哭，众民也都哭了。
32And when they had buried Abner in Hebron, king David lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner: and all the people also wept.
33王为 押尼珥 举哀，说： 押尼珥 何竟像愚顽人死呢？
33And the king mourning and lamenting over Abner, said: Not as cowards are wont to die, hath Abner died.
34你手未曾捆绑，脚未曾锁住。 你死，如人死在罪孽之辈手下一样。 于是众民又为 押尼珥 哀哭。
34Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet laden with fetters: but as men fall before the children of iniquity, so didst thou fall. And all the people repeating it wept over him.
35日头未落的时候，众民来劝 大卫 吃饭，但 大卫 起誓说：「我若在日头未落以前吃饭，或吃别物，愿 神重重地降罚与我！」
35And when all the people came to take meat with David, while it was yet broad day, David swore, saying: So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread or any thing else before sunset.
36众民知道了就都喜悦。凡王所行的，众民无不喜悦。
36And all the people heard, and they were pleased, and all that the king did seemed good in the sight of all the people.
37那日， 以色列 众民才知道杀 尼珥 的儿子 押尼珥 并非出于王意。
37And all the people, and all Israel understood that day that it was not the king’s doing, that Abner the son of Ner was slain.
38王对臣仆说：「你们岂不知今日 以色列 人中死了一个作元帅的大丈夫吗？
38The king also said to his servants: Do you not know that a prince and great man is slain this day in Israel?
39我虽然受膏为王，今日还是软弱；这 洗鲁雅 的两个儿子比我刚强。愿耶和华照着恶人所行的恶报应他。」
39But I as yet am tender, though anointed king. And these men the sons of Sarvia are too hard for me: the Lord reward him that doth evil according to his wickedness.
