Berean Standard Bible
1Angraenghaih pongah loe ahmin hoihhaih to qoih han hoih kue; sui hoi sumkanglung pongah doeh amlunghaih to koeh kue han oh.
1A good name is more desirable than great riches; favor is better than silver and gold.
2Long angraeng hoi kamtang anghmonghaih loe hae tiah oh: nihnik loe Sithaw mah ni sak hmaek.
2The rich and the poor have this in common: The LORD is Maker of them all.
3Khopoek thaih kami loe raihaih to hnukcoek pongah ayae ving; toe poekhaih tidoeh tawn ai kami loe caeh moe, raihaih to tongh.
3The prudent see danger and take cover, but the simple keep going and suffer the consequences.
4Minawk tlim ah khosakhaih hoi Angraeng zithaih mah angraenghaih, pakoehhaih hoi hinghaih to tacawtsak.
4The rewards of humility and the fear of the LORD are wealth and honor and life.
5Poek angkawn kami caehhaih loklam loe soekhring hoi thaang hoiah koi; toe a hinghaih angvaeng kami mah loe ahmuen kangthla ah amhoe taak ving.
5Thorns and snares lie on the path of the perverse; he who guards his soul stays far from them.
6Nawkta mah pazui han ih loklam to patuk ah; to naah ni a qoeng tahang naah, to loklam hoiah amkhraeng mak ai.
6Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
7Angraeng kami mah kamtang kami to uk, hmuenmae coi kami loe coisakkung ih tamna ah oh.
7The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.
8Sethaih amu haeh kami loe sethaih to aat tih; anih palungphuihaih quiboeng loe amro tih.
8He who sows injustice will reap disaster, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed.
9Kami tahmenhaih mik to tawnh moe, amtang kami han paek koehhaih palungthin hoiah paek kami loe tahamhoih tih.
9A generous man will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.
10Minawk khet patoek kami to haek oh, lok angaekhaih to amding tih; angzoehhaih hoi kasae thuihaih doeh boeng tih.
10Drive out the mocker, and conflict will depart; even quarreling and insults will cease.
11Poektoeng kami loe, tahmenhaih hoiah lokthuih pongah, siangpahrang loe anih ih ampui ah om tih.
11He who loves a pure heart and gracious lips will have the king for a friend.
12Angraeng ih mik mah loe palunghahaih lok to pakaa moe, zaehaih sak koeh kami ih loknawk loe tiah doeh sah pae ai.
12The LORD’s eyes keep watch over knowledge, but He frustrates the words of the faithless.
13Thasae kami loe tasa bangah kaipui oh! Minawk mah na hum tih, tiah thuih.
13The slacker says, “There is a lion outside! I will be slain in the streets!”
14Sava laep ah zaehaih sah nongpata ih pakha loe kathuk tangqom ah oh; Angraeng mah panuet ih kami loe to tangqom thungah krah tih.
14The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit; he who is under the wrath of the LORD will fall into it.
15Nawkta ih palung loe amthuhaih mah zaeng; toe thuitaekhaih cung mah to amthuhaih to kangthla ah haek ving tih.
15Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him.
16Angraeng thai hanah amtang kaminawk to pacaekthlaek moe, angraeng kami hanah tamquta hoiah tangqum paek kami loe amtang tih.
16Oppressing the poor to enrich oneself or giving gifts to the rich will surely lead to poverty.
17Naa to patueng ah loe palungha kami ih loknawk to tahngai ah; ka palunghahaih hae na palung thungah khrum ah.
17Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise— apply your mind to my knowledge—
18Palung thungah na khrum nahaeloe anghoehaih ah om tih; na pahni ah doeh suem ah.
18for it is pleasing when you keep them within you and they are constantly on your lips.
19Angraeng ah nam ha thai hanah, vaihniah kang patuk boeh.
19So that your trust may be in the LORD, I instruct you today—yes, you.
20Kahoih koek poekhaih hoi palunghahaih loknawk to kang tarik pae boeh,
20Have I not written for you thirty sayings about counsel and knowledge,
21loktang lok to na panoek thaih moe, nang khae patoeh ih kaminawk khaeah, loktang lok na thuih pae let thai hanah, kang pat boeh na ai maw?
21to show you true and reliable words, that you may soundly answer those who sent you?
22Amtang pongah kamtang ih hmuen to lomh pae o hmah; patangkhang kami to lokcaekhaih ahmuen ah pacaekthlaek o hmah.
22Do not rob a poor man because he is poor, and do not crush the afflicted at the gate,
23Angraeng mah nihcae kawng to thui ueloe, nihcae hinghaih paro kami to amrosak toeng tih.
23for the LORD will take up their case and will plunder those who rob them.
24Poek amthueng kami to ampui ah sah hmah; palungphui thaih kami hoi nawnto caeh hmah;
24Do not make friends with an angry man, and do not associate with a hot-tempered man,
25anih ih kuu na la moeng ueloe, na hinghaih to thaang pongah aman moeng tih.
25or you may learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.
26Minawk ih laiba pathok pae hanah lokmaihaih sah hmah, to tih ai boeh loe lokkamhaih to sah hmah.
26Do not be one who gives pledges, who puts up security for debts.
27Laiba pathok hanah phoisa na tawn ai nahaeloe, na iihkhun to na paek han maw?
27If you have nothing with which to pay, why should your bed be taken from under you?
28Nam panawk mah quenh tangcae ih prae angzithaih ramri to pathui hmah.
28Do not move an ancient boundary stone which your fathers have placed.
29Kahoih ah toksah kami to na hnuk maw? To kami loe kami rumram ih toksah mak ai, siangpahrang ih tok ni sah tih.
29Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will be stationed in the presence of kings; he will not stand before obscure men.
