1First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered for everyone—
1Napomínámť pak, aby především činěny bývaly pokorné modlitby, prosby, svaté žádosti a díků činění za všelijaké lidi,
2for kings and all those in authority—so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity.
2Za krále i za všecky v moci postavené, abychom tichý a pokojný život vedli ve vší zbožnosti a šlechetnosti.
3This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
3Nebo toť jest dobré a vzácné před spasitelem naším Bohem,
4who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
4Kterýž chce, aby všelijací lidé spaseni byli a k známosti pravdy přišli.
5For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
5Jedenť jest zajisté Bůh, jeden také i prostředník Boží a lidský, člověk Kristus Ježíš,
6who gave Himself as a ransom for all—the testimony that was given at just the right time.
6Kterýžto dal sebe samého mzdu na vykoupení za všecky, na osvědčení časem svým.
7For this reason I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the Gentiles. I am telling the truth; I am not lying about anything.
7K čemuž postaven jsem já za kazatele a apoštola, (pravduť pravím v Kristu a neklamámť,) za učitele pohanů u víře a pravdě.
8Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or dissension.
8Protož chtěl bych, aby se modlili muži na všelikém místě, pozdvihujíce čistých rukou, bez hněvu a bez roztržitosti.
9Likewise, I want the women to adorn themselves with respectable apparel, with modesty, and with self-control, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,
9Takž také i ženy aby se oděvem slušným s stydlivostí a s středmostí ozdobovaly, ne strojením a křtaltováním sobě vlasů, neb zlatem, anebo perlami, anebo drahým rouchem,
10but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess to worship God.
10Ale (tak, jakž sluší ženám, kteréž dokazují při sobě zbožnosti,) dobrými skutky.
11A woman must learn in quietness and full submissiveness.
11Žena ať se učí mlčeci, ve všeliké poddanosti.
12I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; she is to remain quiet.
12Nebo ženě nedopouštím učiti, ani vládnouti nad mužem, ale aby byla v mlčení.
13For Adam was formed first, and then Eve.
13Adam zajisté prve jest stvořen, potom Eva.
14And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman who was deceived and fell into transgression.
14A Adam nebyl sveden, ale žena svedena jsuci, příčinou přestoupení byla.
15Women, however, will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.
15Ale však spasena bude v plození dětí, jestliže by zůstala u víře, a v lásce, a v posvěcení svém, s středmostí.
