1You yourselves know, brothers, that our visit to you was not in vain.
1Nawkamyanawk, nangcae khaeah kang zoh o haih hae, azom na ai ni, tiah na panoek o:
2As you are aware, we had already endured suffering and shameful treatment in Philippi. But in the face of strong opposition, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God.
2na panoek o baktih toengah, kaicae loe Filipi ah ang pacaekthlaek o moe, azat kaom ah ang sak o, toe paroeai angaekhaih hoiah nangcae khaeah kahoih tamthanglok to Sithaw ah misahoihaih hoiah ka thuih o thaih.
3For our appeal does not arise from deceit or ulterior motives or trickery.
3Kaicae loe sakpazaehaih, ciimcai ai ah toksakhaih hoi alinghaih hoiah nangcae to tha kang paek o ai:
4Instead, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, not in order to please men but God, who examines our hearts.
4tamthanglok hoih pakuem hanah oepthok kami ah Sithaw mah tapom baktih toengah, kami koehhaih baktih na ai ah, Sithaw koehhaih baktiah ni ka thuih o.
5As you know, we never used words of flattery or any pretext for greed. God is our witness!
5Na panoek o baktih toengah, kaicae loe amoekhaih lok ka thui o ai, kamthlai koeh hmoekhaih lok doeh ka thui o vai ai, tito Sithaw mah panoek:
6Nor did we seek praise from you or from anyone else, although as apostles of Christ we had authority to demand it.
6Kri mah patoeh ih kami ah ka oh o pongah, thoemto nangcae hanah loe hmuenzit ah doeh ka oh o thaih, toe kami pakoehhaih to ka pakrong o ai, nangcae mah pakoehhaih doeh ka pakrong o ai, kalah kaminawk mah pakoehhaih doeh ka pkrong o ai.
7On the contrary, we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother caring for her children.
7Amno mah a caanawk pacah baktih toengah, nangcae salakah ka oh o naah, poeknaemhaih hoiah ni kho ka sak o:
8We cared so deeply that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God, but our own lives as well. That is how beloved you have become to us.
8kang palung o parai pongah, Sithaw ih tamthanglok hoih thuih han ih khue na ai ah, nangcae palung kang nat o haih pongah, hinghaih paek han khoek to mataeng doeh ka koeh o.
9Surely you recall, brothers, our labor and toil. We worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to anyone while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
10You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous, and blameless our conduct was among you who believed.
10Nang panoek o baktih toengah, nangcae tangcaanawk khaeah loe, coek koi kaom ai ciimhaih hoi toenghaih hoiah ni kho ka sak o, tito Sithaw mah doeh panoek:
11For you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children—
11ampa mah a caanawk khaeah sak ih baktih toengah, nangcae boih khaeah kawbangmaw thapaekhaih hoi monghaih lok kang thuih o, tito na panoek o,
12encouraging you, comforting you, and urging you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.
12Siangpahrang ah a uk ih prae hoi lensawkhaih thungah nangcae kawkkung, Sithaw mikcuk naakrak ah kho na sak o thai hanah lok kang thuih o.
13And we continually thank God because, when you received the word of God that you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as the true word of God—the word which is now at work in you who believe.
13Kaicae khae hoi Sithaw lok na thaih o naah, kaminawk ih lok baktiah na talawk o ai, loktang, Sithaw ih lok baktiah ni na talawk o, nangcae tangcaanawk salakah tok ka sak o pongah, Sithaw khaeah boeng ai ah anghoehaih lawk ka thuih o.
14For you, brothers, became imitators of the churches of God in Judea that are in Christ Jesus. You suffered from your own countrymen the very things they suffered from the Jews,
14Nawkamyanawk, nangcae loe Judah prae ah Kri Jesu to talawk moe, Sithaw hnukbang kricaabunawk mah, Judah kaminawk khae hoi pacaekthlaekhaih tongh o baktih toengah, nangcae doeh nangmacae kaminawk khae hoi ih pacaekthlaekhaih to na tongh o toeng:
15who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and drove us out as well. They are displeasing to God and hostile to all men,
15Judahnawk mah Angraeng Jesu Kri hoi angmacae ih tahmaanawk to hum o, kaicae doeh ang pacaekthlaek o; nihcae mah Sithaw palung anghoe o sak thai ai, nihcae loe kami boih ih misa ah oh o:
16hindering us from telling the Gentiles how they may be saved. As a result, they continue to heap up their sins to full capacity; the utmost wrath has come upon them.
16Gentelnawk mah pahlonghaih hnu o moeng tih, tiah a poek o pongah nihcae khaeah kahoih tamthanglok taphong hanah kaicae to ang pakaa o, to tiah angmacae zaehaih to koi o sak: to pongah hnukkhuem ah Sithaw palungphuihaih to nihcae nuiah krah tih.
17Brothers, although we were torn away from you for a short time (in person, not in heart), our desire to see you face to face was even more intense.
17Toe nawkamyanawk, kaicae loe palung hoi na ai, taksa ah nangcae hoi nawnetta thung angthla ah ka oh o, nangcae kang poek o parai pongah, hnuk han kang koeh o parai boeh.
18For we wanted to come to you—indeed I, Paul, tried again and again—but Satan obstructed us.
18To pongah nangcae khae angzoh han ka koeh o, kai, Pawl doeh nangcae khae angzoh pacoengah, angzoh let han ka koeh vop, toe Setan mah kaicae to pakaa ving.
19After all, who is our hope, our joy, our crown of boasting, if it is not you yourselves in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His coming?
19Aicae Angraeng Jesu Kri anghum naah angmah hmaa ah, nangcae ai ah loe mi maw ka oep o ih anghoehaih hoi anghoehaih sui lumuek ah kaom?
20You are indeed our glory and our joy.
20Nangcae loe kaicae lensawkhaih hoi anghoehaih ah na oh o.
