Coptic New Testament
1Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.
1ϯϯϩⲟ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲁ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲙⲉⲧϣⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⲉⲑⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲁϩⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⳿ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϣⲟⲩϣⲱⲟⲩϣⲓ ⲉϥⲟⲛϧ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲉϥⲣⲁⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲗⲟⲅⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲉϥⲣⲁⲛⲁϥ.
2Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.
2ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙⲉⲣ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥⲭⲏⲙⲁ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲁⲓⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛϣⲉⲃⲧ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲥⲙⲟⲧ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲃⲉⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲕⲁϯ ⲉⲑⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲇⲟⲕⲓⲙⲁⲍⲓⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲫⲟⲩⲱϣ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⲡⲓⲁⲅⲁⲑⲟⲛ ⲉⲑⲣⲁⲛⲁϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧϫⲏⲕ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
3For I say through the grace that was given me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith.
3ϯϫⲱ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲉⲧⲧⲟⲓ ⲛⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧϣⲟⲡ ϧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙⲉⲣϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲟ ⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⲥⲁⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲧ⳿ⲥϣⲉ ⳿ⲉⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⳿ⲉⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⳿ⲉϭⲓ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲁ ⲫϯ ⲫⲱϣ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲁϩϯ.
4For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don’t have the same function,
4⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲙⲙⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲓⲙⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϩⲱⲃ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲱⲟⲩ.
5so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another,
5ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ϩⲱⲛ ϧⲁ ⲛⲓⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲙⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏ ⲟⲩ.
6having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us: if prophecy, let’s prophesy according to the proportion of our faith;
6⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲁⲛ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲉⲩϣⲉⲃⲓⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⳿ⲡϣⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲉⲧⲧⲟⲓ ⲛⲁⲛ ⳿ⲓⲧⲉ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲓ⳿ⲁ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲓⲑⲟⲛⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ.
7or service, let’s give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching;
7⳿ⲓⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲓ⳿ⲁⲕⲟⲛⲓ⳿ⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲇⲓ⳿ⲁⲕⲟⲛⲓ⳿ⲁ ⳿ⲓⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲧϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲣⲉϥϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ.
8or he who exhorts, to his exhorting; he who gives, let him do it with generosity; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
8⳿ⲓⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲧϯⲛⲟⲙϯ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲑⲁⲧϩⲏⲧ ⲫⲏⲉⲧϯ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧϩⲁⲡⲗⲟⲩⲥ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲭⲏ ϧⲁϫⲱⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲡⲟⲩⲇⲏ ⲫⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁ⳿ⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲣⲁϣⲓ.
9Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good.
9ϯⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲙⲉⲧϣⲟⲃⲓ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲫⲏⲧ ⲥⲁⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲟⲙⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓⲁⲅⲁⲑⲟⲛ.
10In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor prefer one another,
10ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲙⲁⲓⲥⲟⲛ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲭⲏ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲓ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣϣⲟⲣⲡ ⳿ⲛⲭⲁ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲧⲁⲓⲟ.
11not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord,
11ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛϭⲛⲁⲩ ⲁⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ϯ⳿ⲥⲡⲟⲩⲇⲏ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϧⲏⲙ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲓ ⳿ⲙⲃⲱⲕ ⳿ⲙⲠ⳪.
12rejoicing in hope, enduring in troubles, continuing steadfastly in prayer,
12ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲣⲁϣⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ϯϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣϩⲩⲡⲟⲙⲉⲛⲓⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓϩⲟϫϩⲉϫ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲙⲏ ⲛ ⳿ⲉϯⲡⲣⲟⲥⲉⲩⲭⲏ.
13contributing to the needs of the saints, and given to hospitality.
13ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣ ⳿ⲉⲛⲓ⳿ⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲁⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϭⲟϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁ ⳿ⲧⲙⲉⲧⲙⲁⲓϣⲉⲙⲙⲟ.
14Bless those who persecute you; bless, and don’t curse.
14⳿ⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲛⲏⲉⲧϭⲟϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲥⲁϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ.
15Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.
15ⲣⲁϣⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲣⲁϣⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲣⲓⲙⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲣⲓⲙⲓ.
16Be of the same mind one toward another. Don’t set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Don’t be wise in your own conceits.
16ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲣⲁ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲉⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉⲛⲓⲙⲉⲧϭⲁⲥⲓϩⲏ ⲧ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲙⲟϣⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲑⲉⲃⲓⲏ ⲟⲩⲧ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁⲃⲉ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ.
17Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men.
17⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲧϣⲉⲃⲓⲱ ⳿ⲛⲡⲟⲩⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϥⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲱⲟⲩϣ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲡⲉⲑⲛⲁⲛⲉⲩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉ⳿ⲙⲑⲟ ⳿ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.
18If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.
18ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⳿ϣϫⲟⲙ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲁⲣⲓⲁⲩⲧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲉⲣϩⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.
19Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.”
19⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛϭⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲓϣ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲁⲙⲉⲛⲣⲁϯ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲙⲁⲙⲁ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϫⲱⲛⲧ ⳿ⲥ⳿ⲥϧⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛϭⲓ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲓϣ ⲫⲱⲓ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲑⲛⲁϯϣⲉⲃⲓⲱ ⲡⲉϫⲉ Ⲡ⳪.
20Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.”
20ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉϣⲱⲡ ⲁⲣⲉϣⲁⲛ ⲡⲉⲕϫⲁϫⲓ ⳿ϩⲕⲟ ⲙⲁⲧⲉⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁϥϣⲁⲛ⳿ⲓⲃⲓ ⲙⲁ⳿ⲧⲥⲟϥ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲕⲣⲁ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲕ⳿ⲉⲑⲱⲟⲩϯ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛϫⲉⲃⲥ ⳿ⲛ ⳿ⲭⲣⲱⲙ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲁⲫⲉ.
21Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
21⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲑⲣⲉ ⲡⲓⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ϭⲣⲟ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲡⲉⲑⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ ϭⲣⲟ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ
