Kadede Kap (Pohnpeian New Testament and Psalms)
1So Pilate then took Jesus and flogged him.
1PILATUJ ap ale Iejuj wokida i.
2The soldiers twisted thorns into a crown and put it on his head, and dressed him in a purple garment.
2A jaunpei ko irada el en tek eu, rap kidan pon kadokenmai o kapwataki i likau waitata.
3They kept saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and they kept slapping him.
3Re ap kai don i indada: Ion Nanmarki en Juj akan! O re pikir jilan i.
4Then Pilate went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I bring him out to you, that you may know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”
4Pilatuj ap pil pedoi indai on irail: Kilan, i wa don komail i, pwe komail en aja, me i jota diaradar dip a.
5Jesus therefore came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. Pilate said to them, “Behold, the man!”
5Iejuj ap kotieila, kapwataki el en tek o likau pup waitata. A indai on irail: Kilan, jon en aramaj o!
6When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him, they shouted, saying, “Crucify! Crucify!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no basis for a charge against him.”
6Jamero lapalap o papa ko lao udial i, irail ap weriwereda indada: Kalopuela i! Kalopuela i! Pilatuj indai on irail: Pein komail ale i kalopuela i! Pwe i jota diar dip a.
7The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.”
7Juj oko japen i: At kapun mia, a duen at kapun a pan kamatala, pwe a wiaki japwilim en Kot pein i.
8When therefore Pilate heard this saying, he was more afraid.
8Pilatuj lao ronadar mepukat, ap majapwekadar kaualap,
9He entered into the Praetorium again, and said to Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.
9O purelon on nan im en kadeik o, kalelapok ren Iejuj: Komui koti jan ia? A Iejuj jota kotin japen i.
10Pilate therefore said to him, “Aren’t you speaking to me? Don’t you know that I have power to release you and have power to crucify you?”
10Pilatuj ap indai on i: Komui jota japen ia? Komui jota aja, me i manaman on kapiti uk ala o pil manaman on kalopue uk ala?
11Jesus answered, “You would have no power at all against me, unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me to you has greater sin.”
11Iejuj kotin japen: Jota man om manaman en kaoe ia, ma a jo muei on komui jan poa. Ari, dip en me pana ia don komui er me lapa jan.
12At this, Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you release this man, you aren’t Caesar’s friend! Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar!”
12Ari, Pilatuj ap jon kapitila i, a Juj oko weriwer indada: Komui kaidin kompoke pan Jija, ma komui pan kapitila men et. Meamen kajapwiladan nanmarki pein i kin palian Jija.
13When Pilate therefore heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called “The Pavement”, but in Hebrew, “Gabbatha.”
13Pilatuj lao ronadar kajoi pukat ap kapwareda Iejuj, kaipokedi pon deun kadeik, waja me adaneki Pepment, a ni lokaia en Ipru: Kapata,
14Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, at about the sixth hour. He said to the Jews, “Behold, your King!”
14A i ran en onop on paja impan auer kawonu. I ari majani on Juj oko: Kilan, omail Nanmarki!
15They cried out, “Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”
15A re weriwereda: Jikenewei! Jikenewei! Kalopuela i! Pilatuj majani on irail: Da, i en kamela omail Nanmarki? Jamero lapalap akan japen: Jota at nanmarki, Jija eta.
16So then he delivered him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led him away.
16I ari panalan irail i, pwen lopuela. Rap koledi Iejuj kaluala.
17He went out, bearing his cross, to the place called “The Place of a Skull”, which is called in Hebrew, “Golgotha”,
17A pein i kotin wa a lopu, kotilan waja me adaneki wajan pondal, a ni lokaia en Ipru: Kolkata,
18where they crucified him, and with him two others, on either side one, and Jesus in the middle.
18Waja re kalopuela i ianaki riamen, amen ni pali maun, a amen ni pali main, a Iejuj nan pun ara.
19Pilate wrote a title also, and put it on the cross. There was written, “JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
19Pilatuj ap pil wiadar intin eu, kakonei on pon lopu o. A iet intin: Iejuj en Najaret, Nanmarki en Juj akan.
20Therefore many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek.
20Juj akan me toto, me wado kedi intin wet, pwe waja Iejuj kotin lopuela ia, me jalon kanim o. A intin o wiauier ni lokaia en Ipru o Krik o Latain.
21The chief priests of the Jews therefore said to Pilate, “Don’t write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘he said, “I am King of the Jews.”’”
21Ari, jamero lapalap oko potoan on Pilatuj: Der intiniedi: Nanmarki en Juj akan, a me a indada: Nai Nanmarki en Juj akan!
22Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”
22Pilatuj japen: Me i intiniedier, i eta ai intin.
23Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
23Jaunpei ko lao kalopuela Iejuj, rap ale japwilim a likau kan, lepuk pajan, wiakida pakij paieu, pakij eu on amen amen en jaunpei ko o pil japwilim a jakit, me jo deidei pena, a pon ta jan poa lei pa.
24Then they said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says, “They parted my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing.” Therefore the soldiers did these things.
24Irail ap kajoi nan pun arail: Kitail ender ter pajan i, a kadoropwaki, me pan aneki, pwe kijin likau en punala, me indinda: Irail nek pajan ai likau kan nan pun ar o kadoropwa ai jakit. lei me jaunpei ko wiakida mepukat.
25But standing by Jesus’ cross were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
25A in en Iejuj u ni tapin lopu en Iejuj, o ri en in a Maria, en Kleopaj a paud, o Maria men Makdala.
26Therefore when Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!”
26Iejuj lao kotin majani in a o tounpadak men u imp a me a kotin kupura mauki, ap kotin majani on in a: Li, kilan noum ol!
27Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour, the disciple took her to his own home.
27Ap kotin majani on tounpadak o: Kilan in om! Ari, jan ni auer ota tounpadak o apwali i.
28After this, Jesus, seeing that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I am thirsty!”
28Iejuj lao kotin manier, me meakaroj nikier, ap kotin majanier: I men nim pilada, pwe kijin likau en punala.
29Now a vessel full of vinegar was set there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop, and held it at his mouth.
29A kajak mi waja o, me audeki pineka. Irail kaduedi lim eu nan pineka, ki on ni alek apot, kidalan ni jilan i.
30When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
30Iejuj lao kotin uraker pineka, ap kotin majani: A nikier. I ari kotin kamotauiedi kadoken mai, kadarala nen e.
31Therefore the Jews, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies wouldn’t remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a special one), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.
31Juj oko up poeki ren Pilatuj, me na irail ni katipitip pajan o ren wijiki jan, pwe war arail ender lanelan nin lopu ran en japat. Pwe iei ran o ran en Imiiiup, pwe iei ran en japat o me lapalap.
32Therefore the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with him;
32Jaunpei ko ap kai on, katip pajan na en me pali et o en me teio, me ian lopuelar.
33but when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they didn’t break his legs.
33A re lao kai on Iejuj o diaradar, me a matalar, rap jota katip pajan aluwilu a kan.
34However, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
34A jaunpei men dokoki katieu pot panepan a; madan nta o pil kujekujewei.
35He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.
35A me udial mepukat, kin kadede o a kadede me melel, o e aja, me a kin kadede, iei me melel, pwe komail en pil pojon.
36For these things happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled, “A bone of him will not be broken.”
36Pwe mepukat wiauier, pwe kijin likau en punala: Aluwilu a jota pan tip pajan.
37Again another Scripture says, “They will look on him whom they pierced.”
37O pil eu kijin likau kin inda: Irail pan kankakil i, me re dokodi.
38After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away Jesus’ body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body.
38Murin mepukat Iojep men Arimatia, tounpadak en Iejuj amen, ari me rir, pweki a majak Juj oko, ap poeki ren Pilatuj, en mueid on i kalep en Iejuj. Pilatuj ari mueid on i. I ari waiki jan kalep en Iejuj.
39Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred Roman pounds.
39Nikodemuj me poto don Iejuj ni pon, pil kodo, wado paun epuki en potik en mire o aloj.
40So they took Jesus’ body, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.
40Irail ap ale kalep en Iejuj, kidimki pena likau linen kai ianaki pomau kan, duen tiak en Juj akan, ni ar kin jarepedi.
41Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden was a new tomb in which no man had ever yet been laid.
41A waja me a kotin lopuela ia, matuel eu mia ia, a nan matuel joujou kap eu mia, me jaikenta amen jaredi ia.
42Then, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day (for the tomb was near at hand), they laid Jesus there.
42I waja me ira nekidala Iejuj, pweki ran en kaonop en Juj akan, o joujou me koren.
