1Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle; and they were gathered together at Socoh, which belongs to Judah, and encamped between Socoh and Azekah in Ephesdammim.
1非利士 人招聚他们的军旅，要来争战；聚集在属 犹大 的 梭哥 ，安营在 梭哥 和 亚西加 中间的 以弗·大悯 。
2Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and encamped in the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array against the Philistines.
2扫罗 和 以色列 人也聚集，在 以拉谷 安营，摆列队伍，要与 非利士 人打仗。
3The Philistines stood on the mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on the mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them.

4A champion out of the camp of the Philistines named Goliath of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span went out.
4从 非利士 营中出来一个讨战的人，名叫 歌利亚 ，是 迦特 人，身高六肘零一虎口；
5He had a helmet of bronze on his head, and he wore a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of bronze.
5头戴铜盔，身穿铠甲，甲重五千舍客勒；
6He had bronze shin armor on his legs and a bronze javelin between his shoulders.
6腿上有铜护膝，两肩之中背负铜戟；
7The staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spear’s head weighed six hundred shekels of iron. His shield bearer went before him.
7枪杆粗如织布的机轴，铁枪头重六百舍客勒。有一个拿盾牌的人在他前面走。
8He stood and cried to the armies of Israel, and said to them, “Why have you come out to set your battle in array? Am I not a Philistine, and you servants to Saul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me.
8歌利亚 对着 以色列 的军队站立，呼叫说：「你们出来摆列队伍做什么呢？我不是 非利士 人吗？你们不是 扫罗 的仆人吗？可以从你们中间拣选一人，使他下到我这里来。
9If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then will we be your servants; but if I prevail against him and kill him, then you will be our servants and serve us.”
9他若能与我战斗，将我杀死，我们就作你们的仆人；我若胜了他，将他杀死，你们就作我们的仆人，服事我们。」
10The Philistine said, “I defy the armies of Israel today! Give me a man, that we may fight together!”
10那 非利士 人又说：「我今日向 以色列 人的军队骂阵。你们叫一个人出来，与我战斗。」
11When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.
11扫罗 和 以色列 众人听见 非利士 人的这些话，就惊惶，极其害怕。
12Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehem Judah, whose name was Jesse; and he had eight sons. The man was an elderly old man in the days of Saul.
12大卫 是 犹大 伯利恒 的 以法他 人 耶西 的儿子。 耶西 有八个儿子。当 扫罗 的时候， 耶西 已经老迈。
13The three oldest sons of Jesse had gone after Saul to the battle; and the names of his three sons who went to the battle were Eliab the firstborn, and next to him Abinadab, and the third Shammah.
13耶西 的三个大儿子跟随 扫罗 出征。这出征的三个儿子：长子名叫 以利押 ，次子名叫 亚比拿达 ，三子名叫 沙玛 。
14David was the youngest; and the three oldest followed Saul.
14大卫 是最小的；那三个大儿子跟随 扫罗 。
15Now David went back and forth from Saul to feed his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.
15大卫 有时离开 扫罗 ，回 伯利恒 放他父亲的羊。
16The Philistine came near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days.
16那 非利士 人早晚都出来站着，如此四十日。
17Jesse said to David his son, “Now take for your brothers an ephah of this parched grain and these ten loaves, and carry them quickly to the camp to your brothers;
17一日， 耶西 对他儿子 大卫 说：「你拿一伊法烘了的穗子和十个饼，速速地送到营里去，交给你哥哥们；
18and bring these ten cheeses to the captain of their thousand; and see how your brothers are doing, and bring back news.”
18再拿这十块奶饼，送给他们的千夫长，且问你哥哥们好，向他们要一封信来。」
19Now Saul, and they, and all the men of Israel were in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.
19扫罗 与 大卫 的三个哥哥和 以色列 众人，在 以拉谷 与 非利士 人打仗。
20David rose up early in the morning and left the sheep with a keeper, and took the provisions and went, as Jesse had commanded him. He came to the place of the wagons as the army which was going out to the fight shouted for the battle.
20大卫 早晨起来，将羊交托一个看守的人，照着他父亲所吩咐的话，带着食物去了。到了辎重营，军兵刚出到战场，呐喊要战。
21Israel and the Philistines put the battle in array, army against army.
21以色列 人和 非利士 人都摆列队伍，彼此相对。
22David left his baggage in the hand of the keeper of the baggage and ran to the army, and came and greeted his brothers.
22大卫 把他带来的食物留在看守物件人的手下，跑到战场，问他哥哥们安。
23As he talked with them, behold, the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, came up out of the ranks of the Philistines, and said the same words; and David heard them.
23与他们说话的时候，那讨战的，就是属 迦特 的 非利士 人 歌利亚 ，从 非利士 队中出来，说从前所说的话； 大卫 都听见了。
24All the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were terrified.
24以色列 众人看见那人，就逃跑，极其害怕。
25The men of Israel said, “Have you seen this man who has come up? He has surely come up to defy Israel. The king will give great riches to the man who kills him, and will give him his daughter, and will make his father’s house tax-free in Israel.”
25以色列 人彼此说：「这上来的人你看见了吗？他上来是要向 以色列 人骂阵。若有能杀他的，王必赏赐他大财，将自己的女儿给他为妻，并在 以色列 人中免他父家纳粮当差。」
26David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done to the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
26大卫 问站在旁边的人说：「有人杀这 非利士 人，除掉 以色列 人的耻辱，怎样待他呢？这未受割礼的 非利士 人是谁呢？竟敢向永生 神的军队骂阵吗？」
27The people answered him in this way, saying, “So shall it be done to the man who kills him.”
27百姓照先前的话回答他说：「有人能杀这 非利士 人，必如此如此待他。」
28Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger burned against David, and he said, “Why have you come down? With whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the evil of your heart; for you have come down that you might see the battle.”
28大卫 的长兄 以利押 听见 大卫 与他们所说的话，就向他发怒，说：「你下来做什么呢？在旷野的那几只羊，你交托了谁呢？我知道你的骄傲和你心里的恶意，你下来特为要看争战！」
29David said, “What have I now done? Is there not a cause?”
29大卫 说：「我做了什么呢？我来岂没有缘故吗？」
30He turned away from him toward another, and spoke like that again; and the people answered him again the same way.
30大卫 就离开他转向别人，照先前的话而问；百姓仍照先前的话回答他。
31When the words were heard which David spoke, they rehearsed them before Saul; and he sent for him.
31有人听见 大卫 所说的话，就告诉了 扫罗 ； 扫罗 便打发人叫他来。
32David said to Saul, “Let no man’s heart fail because of him. Your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.”
32大卫 对 扫罗 说：「人都不必因那 非利士 人胆怯。你的仆人要去与那 非利士 人战斗。」
33Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.”
33扫罗 对 大卫 说：「你不能去与那 非利士 人战斗；因为你年纪太轻，他自幼就作战士。」
34David said to Saul, “Your servant was keeping his father’s sheep; and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock,
34大卫 对 扫罗 说：「你仆人为父亲放羊，有时来了狮子，有时来了熊，从群中衔一只羊羔去。
35I went out after him, struck him, and rescued it out of his mouth. When he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, struck him, and killed him.
35我就追赶它，击打它，将羊羔从它口中救出来。它起来要害我，我就揪着它的胡子，将它打死。
36Your servant struck both the lion and the bear. This uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, since he has defied the armies of the living God.”
36你仆人曾打死狮子和熊，这未受割礼的 非利士 人向永生 神的军队骂阵，也必像狮子和熊一般。」
37David said, “The LORD, who delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said to David, “Go! The LORD will be with you.”
37大卫 又说：「耶和华救我脱离狮子和熊的爪，也必救我脱离这 非利士 人的手。」 扫罗 对 大卫 说：「你可以去吧！耶和华必与你同在。」
38Saul dressed David with his clothing. He put a helmet of bronze on his head, and he clad him with a coat of mail.
38扫罗 就把自己的战衣给 大卫 穿上，将铜盔给他戴上，又给他穿上铠甲。
39David strapped his sword on his clothing and he tried to move, for he had not tested it. David said to Saul, “I can’t go with these, for I have not tested them.” Then David took them off.
39大卫 把刀跨在战衣外，试试能走不能走；因为素来没有穿惯，就对 扫罗 说：「我穿戴这些不能走，因为素来没有穿惯。」于是摘脱了。
40He took his staff in his hand, and chose for himself five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag which he had. His sling was in his hand; and he came near to the Philistine.
40他手中拿杖，又在溪中挑选了五块光滑石子，放在袋里，就是牧人带的囊里；手中拿着甩石的机弦，就去迎那 非利士 人。
41The Philistine walked and came near to David; and the man who bore the shield went before him.
41非利士 人也渐渐地迎着 大卫 来，拿盾牌的走在前头。
42When the Philistine looked around and saw David, he disdained him; for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and had a good looking face.
42非利士 人观看，见了 大卫 ，就藐视他；因为他年轻，面色光红，容貌俊美。
43The Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” The Philistine cursed David by his gods.
43非利士 人对 大卫 说：「你拿杖到我这里来，我岂是狗呢？」 非利士 人就指着自己的神咒诅 大卫 。
44The Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the sky and to the animals of the field.”
44非利士 人又对 大卫 说：「来吧！我将你的肉给空中的飞鸟、田野的走兽吃。」
45Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin; but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Armies, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
45大卫 对 非利士 人说：「你来攻击我，是靠着刀枪和 铜 戟；我来攻击你，是靠着万军之耶和华的名，就是你所怒骂带领 以色列 军队的 神。
46Today, the LORD will deliver you into my hand. I will strike you and take your head from off you. I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines today to the birds of the sky and to the wild animals of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,
46今日耶和华必将你交在我手里。我必杀你，斩你的头，又将 非利士 军兵的尸首给空中的飞鸟、地上的野兽吃，使普天下的人都知道 以色列 中有 神；
47and that all this assembly may know that the LORD doesn’t save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hand.”
47又使这众人知道耶和华使人得胜，不是用刀用枪，因为争战的胜败全在乎耶和华。他必将你们交在我们手里。」
48When the Philistine arose, and walked and came near to meet David, David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
48非利士 人起身，迎着 大卫 前来。 大卫 急忙迎着 非利士 人，往战场跑去。
49David put his hand in his bag, took a stone and slung it, and struck the Philistine in his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.
49大卫 用手从囊中掏出一块石子来，用机弦甩去，打中 非利士 人的额，石子进入额内，他就仆倒，面伏于地。
50So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him; but there was no sword in David’s hand.
50这样， 大卫 用机弦甩石，胜了那 非利士 人，打死他； 大卫 手中却没有刀。
51Then David ran, stood over the Philistine, took his sword, drew it out of its sheath, killed him, and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.
51大卫 跑去，站在 非利士 人身旁，将他的刀从鞘中拔出来，杀死他，割了他的头。 非利士 众人看见他们讨战的勇士死了，就都逃跑。
52The men of Israel and of Judah arose and shouted, and pursued the Philistines as far as Gai and to the gates of Ekron. The wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even to Gath and to Ekron.
52以色列 人和 犹大 人便起身呐喊，追赶 非利士 人，直到 迦特 和 以革伦 的城门。被杀的 非利士 人倒在 沙拉音 的路上，直到 迦特 和 以革伦 。
53The children of Israel returned from chasing after the Philistines, and they plundered their camp.
53以色列 人追赶 非利士 人回来，就夺了他们的营盘。
54David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem, but he put his armor in his tent.
54大卫 将那 非利士 人的头拿到 耶路撒冷 ，却将他军装放在自己的帐棚里。
55When Saul saw David go out against the Philistine, he said to Abner, the captain of the army, “Abner, whose son is this youth?” Abner said, “As your soul lives, O king, I can’t tell.”
55扫罗 看见 大卫 去攻击 非利士 人，就问元帅 押尼珥 说：「 押尼珥 啊，那少年人是谁的儿子？」 押尼珥 说：「我敢在王面前起誓，我不知道。」
56The king said, “Inquire whose son the young man is!”
56王说：「你可以问问那幼年人是谁的儿子。」
57As David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand.
57大卫 打死 非利士 人回来， 押尼珥 领他到 扫罗 面前，他手中拿着 非利士 人的头。
58Saul said to him, “Whose son are you, you young man?” David answered, “I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.”
58扫罗 问他说：「少年人哪，你是谁的儿子？」 大卫 说：「我是你仆人 伯利恒 人 耶西 的儿子。」
