1When I came to you, brothers, I didn’t come with excellence of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.
1Quando fui até vocês, irmãos, não fui com eloquência ou sabedoria ao proclamar a vocês o testemunho de Deus.
2For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
2Pois decidi não saber coisa alguma entre vocês, a não ser Jesus Cristo, e este crucificado.
3I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.
3Eu estive com vocês em fraqueza, em temor e em muito tremor.
4My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
4Minha palavra e minha pregação não consistiram em palavras persuasivas de sabedoria humana, mas em demonstração do Espírito e de poder,
5that your faith wouldn’t stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
5para que a fé de vocês não se apoiasse na sabedoria dos homens, mas no poder de Deus.
6We speak wisdom, however, among those who are full grown, yet a wisdom not of this world nor of the rulers of this world who are coming to nothing.
6No entanto, falamos de sabedoria entre os que são maduros, mas não da sabedoria deste mundo nem da sabedoria dos governantes deste mundo, que estão sendo reduzidos a nada.
7But we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom that has been hidden, which God foreordained before the worlds for our glory,
7Falamos da sabedoria de Deus em mistério, a sabedoria que estava oculta, a qual Deus preordenou antes dos séculos para a nossa glória,
8which none of the rulers of this world has known. For had they known it, they wouldn’t have crucified the Lord of glory.
8a qual nenhum dos governantes deste mundo conheceu. Pois, se a tivessem conhecido, não teriam crucificado o Senhor da glória.
9But as it is written, “Things which an eye didn’t see, and an ear didn’t hear, which didn’t enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him.”
9Mas, como está escrito: “As coisas que o olho não viu, e o ouvido não ouviu, que não entraram no coração do homem, são estas que Deus preparou para aqueles que o amam.”
10But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
10Mas a nós Deus as revelou por meio do Espírito. Pois o Espírito sonda todas as coisas, até mesmo as profundezas de Deus.
11For who among men knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God except God’s Spirit.
11Pois quem entre os homens conhece o que há no homem, a não ser o espírito do próprio homem que nele está? Da mesma forma, ninguém conhece as coisas de Deus, a não ser o Espírito de Deus.
12But we received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that were freely given to us by God.
12Mas nós não recebemos o espírito do mundo, e sim o Espírito que provém de Deus, para que pudéssemos conhecer as coisas que nos foram dadas gratuitamente por Deus.
13We also speak these things, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things.
13Destas coisas também falamos, não em palavras que a sabedoria humana ensina, mas nas que o Espírito Santo ensina, comparando coisas espirituais com coisas espirituais.
14Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him; and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
14Ora, o homem natural não recebe as coisas do Espírito de Deus, porque lhe são loucura; e não pode conhecê-las, porque elas se discernem espiritualmente.
15But he who is spiritual discerns all things, and he himself is to be judged by no one.
15Mas aquele que é espiritual discerne todas as coisas, e ele próprio não é julgado por ninguém.
16“For who has known the mind of the Lord that he should instruct him?” But we have Christ’s mind.
16“Pois quem conheceu a mente do Senhor, para que o possa instruir?” Nós, porém, temos a mente de Cristo.
