1Palitokea manabii wa uongo kati ya watu, na vivyo hivyo walimu wa uongo watatokea kati yenu. Watu hao wataingiza mafundisho maharibifu na kumkana Bwana aliyewakomboa, na kwa njia hiyo watasababisha ghafla maangamizi yao wenyewe.
1But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be among you lying teachers, who shall bring in sects of perdition, and deny the Lord who bought them: bringing upon themselves swift destruction.
2Tena watu wengi watazifuata hizo njia zao mbaya, kwa sababu yao, wengine wataipuuza Njia ya ukweli.
2And many shall follow their riotousnesses, through whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3Kwa tamaa yao mbaya watajipatia faida kwa kuwaambieni hadithi za uongo. Lakini kwa muda mrefu sasa Hakimu wao yu tayari, na Mwangamizi wao yu macho!
3And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you. Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their perdition slumbereth not.
4Malaika walipotenda dhambi, Mungu hakuwahurumia, bali aliwatupa katika moto wa Jehanamu ambako wamefungwa wakingojea Siku ile ya Hukumu.
4For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but delivered them, drawn down by infernal ropes to the lower hell, unto torments, to be reserved unto judgment:
5Mungu hakuihurumia dunia ya hapo kale, bali alileta gharika kuu juu ya nchi ile ya watu wasiomcha Mungu; lakini Noa ambaye alihubiri uadilifu, Mungu alimwokoa pamoja na watu wengine saba.
5And spared not the original world, but preserved Noe, the eighth person, the preacher of justice, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly.
6Mungu aliadhibu miji ya Sodoma na Gomora, akaiteketeza kwa moto, akaifanya iwe mfano wa mambo yatakayowapata watu wasiomcha Mungu.
6And reducing the cities of the Sodomites, and of the Gomorrhites, into ashes, condemned them to be overthrown, making them an example to those that should after act wickedly.
7Alimwokoa Loti, mtu mwema, ambaye alisikitishwa sana na mwenendo mbaya wa watu hao waasi.
7And delivered just Lot, oppressed by the injustice and lewd conversation of the wicked.
8Loti aliishi miongoni mwa watu hao, na kwa siku nyingi moyo wake ulikuwa katika wasiwasi mkuu aliposikia matendo yao maovu.
8For in sight and hearing he was just: dwelling among them, who from day to day vexed the just soul with unjust works.
9Kwa hiyo, basi, Bwana anajua jinsi ya kuwaokoa katika majaribu watu wanaomcha Mungu, na jinsi ya kuwaweka waovu katika adhabu hadi Siku ile ya hukumu,
9The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly from temptation, but to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be tormented.
10hasa wale wanaofuata tamaa mbaya za mwili na kupuuza mamlaka. Watu hao ni washupavu na wenye majivuno, huvitukana na hawaviheshimu viumbe vitukufu vya juu.
10And especially them who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government, audacious, self willed, they fear not to bring in sects, blaspheming.
11Lakini malaika, ambao wana uwezo na nguvu zaidi kuliko hao walimu wa uongo, hawawashtaki na kuwatukana hao mbele ya Bwana.
11Whereas angels who are greater in strength and power, bring not against themselves a railing judgment.
12Watu hao ambao hutukana chochote kile wasichoelewa, ni sawa na wanyama wasio na akili, ambao huzaliwa na baadaye hukamatwa na kuchinjwa! Wataangamizwa kutokana na uharibifu wao wenyewe,
12But these men, as irrational beasts, naturally tending to the snare and to destruction, blaspheming those things which they know not, shall perish in their corruption,
13na watalipwa mateso kwa mateso ambayo wameyasababisha. Furaha yao ni kufanya, tena mchana kabisa, chochote kinachotosheleza anasa zao za mwili. Hao ni fedheha na aibu tupu kwa jumuiya yenu wakati wanapojiunga nanyi katika karamu zenu, bali wakifurahia njia zao za udanganyifu.
13Receiving the reward of their injustice, counting for a pleasure the delights of a day: stains and spots, sporting themselves to excess, rioting in their feasts with you:
14Macho yao yamejaa uzinzi na uwezo wao wa kutenda dhambi hauna kikomo. Huwaongoza watu walio dhaifu mpaka mitegoni. Mioyo yao imezoea kuwa na tamaa ya mali. Wapo chini ya laana ya Mungu!
14Having eyes full of adultery and of sin that ceaseth not: alluring unstable souls, having their heart exercised with covetousness, children of malediction:
15Wameiacha njia iliyonyoka, wakapotoka na kuifuata njia aliyofuata Balaamu, mwana wa Beori, ambaye alipendelea kupata faida kwa kufanya udanganyifu,
15Leaving the right way they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam of Bosor, who loved the wages of iniquity,
16akakaripiwa kwa ajili ya uovu wake. Punda ambaye hasemi alinena kwa sauti ya binadamu, akaukomesha wazimu wa huyo nabii.
16But had a check of his madness, the dumb beast used to the yoke, which speaking with man’s voice, forbade the folly of the prophet.
17Watu hao ni kama chemchemi zilizokauka, kama mawingu yanayopeperushwa na tufani; makao yao waliyowekewa ni mahali pa giza kuu.
17These are fountains without water, and clouds tossed with whirlwinds, to whom the mist of darkness is reserved.
18Husema maneno ya majivuno na yasiyo na maana, na kutumia tamaa zao mbaya za kimwili kuwatega wale ambao wamejitenga hivi karibuni na watu waishio katika udanganyifu.
18For, speaking proud words of vanity, they allure by the desires of fleshly riotousness, those who for a little while escape, such as converse in error:
19Huwaahidi watu wengine eti watakuwa huru, kumbe wao wenyewe ni watumwa wa upotovu—maana mtu ni mtumwa wa chochote kile kinachomtawala.
19Promising them liberty, whereas they themselves are the slaves of corruption. For by whom a man is overcome, of the same also he is the slave.
20Watu waliokwisha ponyoka katika upotovu wa ulimwengu kwa kupata kumjua Bwana na Mwokozi wetu Yesu Kristo, kisha wakakubali kunaswa na kutawaliwa tena na upotovu huo, hali yao itakuwa mbaya zaidi kuliko awali.
20For if, flying from the pollutions of the world, through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they be again entangled in them and overcome: their latter state is become unto them worse than the former.
21Ingalikuwa afadhali kwao kama wasingalijua kamwe njia hiyo ya uadilifu kuliko kujua na kisha kuiacha na kupoteza amri takatifu waliyopokea.
21For it had been better for them not to have known the way of justice, than after they have known it, to turn back from that holy commandment which was delivered to them.
22Ipo mithali isemayo: “Mbwa huyarudia matapishi yake mwenyewe,” na nyingine isemayo: “Nguruwe aliyekwisha oshwa hugaagaa tena katika matope!” Ndivyo ilivyo kwao sasa.
22For, that of the true proverb has happened to them: The dog is returned to his vomit: and, The sow that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.
