1И было в седьмой месяц, Исмаил, сын Нафании, сына Елисама из племени царского, и вельможи царя и десять человек с ним пришли к Годолии, сыну Ахикама, в Массифу, и там они ели вместе хлеб в Массифе.
1And it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ismahel the son of Nathanias, the son of Elisama of the royal blood, and the nobles of the king, and ten men with him, came to Godolias the son of Ahicam into Masphath: and they ate bread there together in Masphath.
2И встал Исмаил, сын Нафании, и десять человек, которые были с ним, и поразили Годолию, сына Ахикама, сына Сафанова, мечом и умертвили того, которого царь Вавилонский поставил начальником над страною.
2And Ismahel the son of Nathanias arose, and the ten men that were with him, and they struck Godolias the son of Ahicam, the son of Saphan with the sword, and slew him whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.
3Также убил Исмаил и всех Иудеев, которые были с ним, с Годолиею, в Массифе, и находившихся там Халдеев, людей военных.
3Ismahel slew also all the Jews that were with Godolias in Masphath, and the Chaldeans that were found there, and the soldiers.
4На другой день по убиении Годолии, когда никто не знал об этом,
4And on the second day after he had killed Godolias, no man yet knowing it,
5пришли из Сихема, Силома и Самарии восемьдесят человек с обритыми бородами и в разодранных одеждах, и изранив себя, с дарами и ливаном в руках для принесения их в дом Господень.
5There came some from Sichem, and from Silo, and from Samaria, fourscore men, with their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and mourning: and they had offerings and incense in their hand, to offer in the house of the Lord.
6Исмаил, сын Нафании, вышел из Массифы навстречу им, идя и плача, и, встретившись с ними, сказал им: идите к Годолии, сыну Ахикама.
6And Ismahel the son of Nathanias went forth from Masphath to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and when he had met them, he said to them: Come to Godolias, the son of Ahicam.
7И как только они вошли в средину города, Исмаил, сын Нафании, убил их и бросил в ров, он и бывшие с ним люди.
7And when they were come to the midst of the city, Ismahel the son of Nathanias, slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he and the men that were with him.
8Но нашлись между ними десять человек, которые сказали Исмаилу: не умерщвляй нас, ибо у нас есть в поле скрытые кладовые с пшеницею и ячменем, и маслом и медом. И он удержался и не умертвил их с другими братьями их.
8But ten men were found among them, that said to Ismahel: Kill us not: for we have stores in the field, of wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey. And he forbore, and slew them not with their brethren.
9Ров же, куда бросил Исмаил все трупы людей, которых он убил из-за Годолии, был тот самый, который сделал царь Аса, боясь Ваасы, царя Израильского; его наполнил Исмаил, сын Нафании, убитыми.
9And the pit into which Ismahel cast all the dead bodies of the men whom he slew because of Godolias, is the same that king Asa made, for fear of Baasa the king of Israel: the same did Ismahel the son of Nathanias fill with them that were slain.
10И захватил Исмаил весь остаток народа, бывшего в Массифе, дочерей царя и весь остававшийся в Массифе народ, который Навузардан, начальник телохранителей, поручил Годолии, сыну Ахикама, и захватил их Исмаил, сын Нафании, и отправился к сыновьям Аммоновым.
10Then Ismahel carried away captive all the remnant of the people that were in Masphath: the king’s daughters, and all the people that remained in Masphath: whom Nabuzardan the general of the army had committed to Godolias the son of Ahicam. And Ismahel the son of Nathanias took them, and he departed, to go over to the children of Ammon.
11Но когда Иоанан, сын Карея, и все бывшие с ним военные начальники услышали о всех злодеяниях, какие совершил Исмаил, сын Нафании,
11But Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the fighting men that were with him, heard of the evil that Ismahel the son of Nathanias had done.
12взяли всех людей и пошли сразиться с Исмаилом, сыном Нафании, и настигли его у больших вод, в Гаваоне.
12And taking all the men, they went out to fight against Ismahel the son of Nathanias, and they found him by the great waters that are in Gabaon.
13И когда весь народ, бывший у Исмаила, увидел Иоанана, сына Карея, и всех бывших с ним военных начальников, обрадовался;
13And when all the people that were with Ismahel, had seen Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the fighting men that were with him, they rejoiced.
14и отворотился весь народ, который Исмаил увел в плен из Массифы, и обратился и пошел к Иоанану, сыну Карея;
14And all the people whom Ismahel had taken, went back to Masphath: and they returned and went to Johanan the son of Caree.
15а Исмаил, сын Нафании, убежал от Иоанана с восемью человеками и ушел к сыновьям Аммоновым.
15But Ismahel the son of Nathanias fled with eight men, from the face of Johanan, and went to the children of Ammon.
16Тогда Иоанан, сын Карея, и все бывшие с ним военные начальники взяли из Массифы весь оставшийся народ, который он освободил от Исмаила, сына Нафании, после того как тот убил Годолию, сына Ахикама, мужчин, военных людей, и жен, и детей, и евнухов, которых он вывел из Гаваона;
16Then Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the soldiers that were with him, took all the remnant of the people whom they had recovered from Ismahel the son of Nathanias, from Masphath, after that he had slain Godolias the son of Ahicam: valiant men for war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gabaon:
17и пошли, и остановились в селении Химам, близ Вифлеема, чтобы уйти в Египет
17And they departed, and sat as sojourners in Chamaam, which is near Bethlehem: in order to go forward, and enter into Egypt,
18от Халдеев, ибо они боялись их, потому что Исмаил, сын Нафании, убил Годолию, сына Ахикама, которого царь Вавилонский поставил начальником над страною.
18From the face of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of them, because Ismahel the son of Nathanias had slain Godolias the son of Ahicam, whom the king of Babylon had made governor in the land of Juda.
