1Ouçam agora o que o SENHOR diz: “Levante-se, defenda sua causa perante os montes, e que as colinas ouçam o que você tem a dizer.
1Hear ye now what the LORD saith: Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.
2Ouçam, ó montes, a acusação do SENHOR, e vocês, firmes fundamentos da terra; pois o SENHOR tem uma causa contra o seu povo, e entrará em contenda com Israel.
2Hear, O ye mountains, the LORD'S controversy, and ye enduring rocks, the foundations of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with His people, and He will plead with Israel.
3Povo meu, o que eu fiz a você? Como eu o sobrecarreguei? Responda-me!
3O My people, what have I done unto thee? And wherein have I wearied thee? Testify against Me.
4Pois eu o tirei da terra do Egito, e o redimi da casa da escravidão. Eu enviei adiante de você Moisés, Arão e Miriã.
4For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondage, and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
5Povo meu, lembre-se agora do que Balaque, rei de Moabe, planejou, e do que Balaão, filho de Beor, lhe respondeu, desde Sitim até Gilgal, para que você reconheça os atos de justiça do SENHOR.”
5O My people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him; from Shittim unto Gilgal, that ye may know the righteous acts of the LORD.
6Como me apresentarei diante do SENHOR, e me curvarei diante do Deus exaltado? Devo me apresentar diante dele com holocaustos, com bezerros de um ano?
6'Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before Him with burnt-offerings, with calves of a year old?
7O SENHOR se agradará com milhares de carneiros? Com dezenas de milhares de rios de azeite? Darei o meu primogênito pela minha desobediência? O fruto do meu corpo pelo pecado da minha alma?
7Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?'
8Ele mostrou a você, ó homem, o que é bom. O que o SENHOR exige de você, senão praticar a justiça, amar a misericórdia e andar humildemente com seu Deus?
8It hath been told thee, O man, what is good, and what the LORD doth require of thee: only to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.
9A voz do SENHOR clama à cidade — e a sabedoria teme o seu nome — “Ouçam a vara, e aquele que a designou.
9Hark! the LORD crieth unto the city — and it is wisdom to have regard for Thy name — hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.
10Ainda há na casa do ímpio tesouros de perversidade, e um efa reduzido, que é maldito?
10Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable?
11Acaso tolerarei balanças desonestas, e uma bolsa de pesos enganosos?
11'Shall I be pure with wicked balances, and with a bag of deceitful weights?'
12Os ricos dela estão cheios de violência, seus habitantes falam mentiras, e sua língua é enganosa quando falam.
12For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
13Por isso, também feri você gravemente. Eu o deixei desolado por causa dos seus pecados.
13Therefore I also do smite thee with a grievous wound; I do make thee desolate because of thy sins.
14Você comerá, mas não se fartará. A fome continuará em seu íntimo. Você guardará, mas não conseguirá salvar, e aquilo que salvar, eu entregarei à espada.
14Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy sickness shall be in thine inward parts; and thou shalt conceive, but shalt not bring forth; and whomsoever thou bringest forth will I give up to the sword.
15Você semeará, mas não colherá. Você pisará as azeitonas, mas não se ungirá com azeite; e esmagará as uvas, mas não beberá o vinho.
15Thou shalt sow, but shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but shalt not anoint thee with oil; and the vintage, but shalt not drink wine.
16Pois os estatutos de Onri são observados, e todas as obras da casa de Acabe. Você segue os conselhos deles, para que eu faça de você uma ruína, e dos seus habitantes, um alvo de assobios. Você carregará a vergonha do meu povo.”
16For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I may make thee an astonishment, and the inhabitants thereof a hissing; and ye shall bear the reproach of My people.
