1Todo aquele que crê que Jesus é o Cristo é nascido de Deus. Todo aquele que ama o Pai ama também aquele que é nascido dele.
1Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2Nisto sabemos que amamos os filhos de Deus: quando amamos a Deus e guardamos os seus mandamentos.
2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3Pois amar a Deus é isto: guardar os seus mandamentos. E os seus mandamentos não são pesados.
3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4Pois tudo o que é nascido de Deus vence o mundo. E esta é a vitória que venceu o mundo: a fé de vocês.
4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5Quem é aquele que vence o mundo, senão aquele que crê que Jesus é o Filho de Deus?
5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6Este é o que veio por água e sangue, Jesus Cristo; não apenas com a água, mas com a água e com o sangue. E é o Espírito quem dá testemunho, porque o Espírito é a verdade.
6This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7Porque há três que dão testemunho:
7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8o Espírito, a água e o sangue; e os três concordam entre si.
8And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
9Se recebemos o testemunho dos homens, o testemunho de Deus é maior; pois este é o testemunho que Deus deu a respeito de seu Filho.
9If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
10Aquele que crê no Filho de Deus tem em si mesmo o testemunho. Aquele que não crê em Deus o fez mentiroso, porque não creu no testemunho que Deus deu a respeito de seu Filho.
10He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11E o testemunho é este: que Deus nos deu a vida eterna, e esta vida está no seu Filho.
11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12Aquele que tem o Filho tem a vida. Aquele que não tem o Filho de Deus não tem a vida.
12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13Escrevi-lhes estas coisas, a vocês que creem no nome do Filho de Deus, para que saibam que têm a vida eterna, e para que continuem a crer no nome do Filho de Deus.
13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
14E esta é a confiança que temos diante dele: se pedirmos alguma coisa segundo a sua vontade, ele nos ouve.
14And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15E, se sabemos que ele nos ouve em tudo o que pedimos, sabemos que já temos aquilo que lhe pedimos.
15And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
16Se alguém vir o seu irmão cometer um pecado que não leva à morte, deverá pedir, e Deus lhe dará vida em favor daqueles cujo pecado não leva à morte. Há pecado que leva à morte. Não digo que ele deva fazer um pedido a respeito desse.
16If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
17Toda injustiça é pecado, e há pecado que não leva à morte.
17All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
18Sabemos que todo aquele que é nascido de Deus não peca; mas aquele que nasceu de Deus guarda a si mesmo, e o Maligno não lhe toca.
18We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
19Sabemos que somos de Deus, e que o mundo inteiro jaz no poder do Maligno.
19And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
20Sabemos que o Filho de Deus já veio e nos deu entendimento, para que conheçamos aquele que é verdadeiro; e nós estamos naquele que é verdadeiro, em seu Filho Jesus Cristo. Este é o verdadeiro Deus e a vida eterna.
20And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
21Filhinhos, guardem-se dos ídolos.
21Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
