1Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,
1Estas são as palavras da carta que o profeta Jeremias enviou de Jerusalém ao restante dos anciãos do cativeiro, e aos sacerdotes, aos profetas e a todo o povo que Nabucodonosor havia levado cativo de Jerusalém para a Babilônia,
2after that Jeconiah the king, and the queen-mother, and the officers, and the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the craftsmen, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;
2(depois que o rei Jeconias, a rainha-mãe, os eunucos, os príncipes de Judá e de Jerusalém, os artesãos e os ferreiros partiram de Jerusalém),
3by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, saying:
3pelas mãos de Elasa, filho de Safã, e de Gemarias, filho de Hilquias (os quais Zedequias, rei de Judá, enviou à Babilônia, a Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia). A carta dizia:
4Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all the captivity, whom I have caused to be carried away captive from Jerusalem unto Babylon:
4Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, a todos os cativos que fiz levar cativos de Jerusalém para a Babilônia:
5Build ye houses, and dwell in them, and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;
5“Construam casas e habitem nelas. Plantem hortas e comam do seu fruto.
6take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; and multiply ye there, and be not diminished.
6Tomem esposas e gerem filhos e filhas. Tomem esposas para os seus filhos e deem as suas filhas a maridos, para que tenham filhos e filhas. Multipliquem-se ali, e não diminuam.
7And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray unto the LORD for it; for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
7Busquem a paz da cidade para onde os fiz levar cativos, e orem ao SENHOR por ela; pois na paz dela vocês terão paz.”
8For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Let not your prophets that are in the midst of you, and your diviners, beguile you, neither hearken ye to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.
8Pois assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: “Não deixem que os seus profetas que estão no meio de vocês e os seus adivinhos os enganem. Não deem ouvidos aos sonhos que vocês fazem sonhar.
9For they prophesy falsely unto you in My name; I have not sent them, saith the LORD.
9Pois eles profetizam falsamente a vocês em meu nome. Eu não os enviei”, diz o SENHOR.
10For thus saith the LORD: After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will remember you, and perform My good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
10Pois assim diz o SENHOR: “Quando se completarem setenta anos para a Babilônia, eu os visitarei e cumprirei a minha boa palavra para com vocês, fazendo-os retornar a este lugar.
11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
11Pois eu sei os pensamentos que tenho a respeito de vocês”, diz o SENHOR, “pensamentos de paz, e não de mal, para dar a vocês esperança e um futuro.
12And ye shall call upon Me, and go, and pray unto Me, and I will hearken unto you.
12Vocês clamarão a mim, virão e orarão a mim, e eu os ouvirei.
13And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.
13Vocês me buscarão e me encontrarão, quando me buscarem de todo o seu coração.
14And I will be found of you, saith the LORD, and I will turn your captivity, and gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you back unto the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
14Serei encontrado por vocês”, diz o SENHOR, “e reverterei o seu cativeiro, e os reunirei de todas as nações e de todos os lugares para onde os expulsei”, diz o SENHOR. “Eu os trarei de volta ao lugar de onde os fiz levar cativos.”
15For ye have said: 'The LORD hath raised us up prophets in Babylon.'
15Porque vocês disseram: “O SENHOR nos levantou profetas na Babilônia”,
16For thus saith the LORD concerning the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and concerning all the people that dwell in this city, your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;
16assim diz o SENHOR a respeito do rei que se assenta no trono de Davi, e a respeito de todo o povo que habita nesta cidade, seus irmãos que não foram com vocês para o cativeiro,
17thus saith the LORD of hosts: Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so bad.
17assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: “Eis que enviarei sobre eles a espada, a fome e a peste, e os farei como figos podres, que não podem ser comidos de tão ruins que são.
18And I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will make them a horror unto all the kingdoms of the earth, a curse, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them;
18Eu os perseguirei com a espada, com a fome e com a peste, e os entregarei para serem jogados de um lado para outro entre todos os reinos da terra, para serem objeto de horror, de espanto, de vaias e de vergonha entre todas as nações para onde os expulsei,
19because they have not hearkened to My words, saith the LORD, wherewith I sent unto them My servants the prophets, sending them betimes and often; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD.
19porque não deram ouvidos às minhas palavras”, diz o SENHOR, “com as quais lhes enviei os meus servos, os profetas, levantando-me cedo e os enviando; mas vocês não quiseram ouvir”, diz o SENHOR.
20Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon:
20Ouçam, portanto, a palavra do SENHOR, todos vocês, cativos que enviei de Jerusalém para a Babilônia.
21Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie unto you in My name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;
21Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, a respeito de Acabe, filho de Colaías, e a respeito de Zedequias, filho de Maaseias, que profetizam mentiras a vocês em meu nome: “Eis que os entregarei nas mãos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia; e ele os matará diante dos seus olhos.
22and of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah that are in Babylon, saying: 'The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire';
22Uma maldição será levantada a respeito deles por todos os cativos de Judá que estão na Babilônia, dizendo: ‘O SENHOR o faça como a Zedequias e como a Acabe, os quais o rei da Babilônia assou no fogo’;
23because they have wrought vile deeds in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have spoken words in My name falsely, which I commanded them not; but I am He that knoweth, and am witness, saith the LORD.
23porque fizeram loucuras em Israel, cometeram adultério com as esposas dos seus próximos e falaram falsamente palavras em meu nome, as quais eu não lhes ordenei. Eu sou aquele que sabe, e sou testemunha”, diz o SENHOR.
24And concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite thou shalt speak, saying:
24A respeito de Semaías, o neelamita, você falará, dizendo:
25Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying: Because thou hast sent letters in thine own name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying:
25“Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: ‘Porque você enviou cartas em seu próprio nome a todo o povo que está em Jerusalém, e a Sofonias, filho de Maaseias, o sacerdote, e a todos os sacerdotes, dizendo:
26'The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that there should be officers in the house of the LORD for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in the stocks and in the collar.
26“O SENHOR o constituiu sacerdote no lugar do sacerdote Joiada, para que haja oficiais na casa do SENHOR, para todo homem que é louco e se faz de profeta, a fim de que você o coloque no tronco e nas algemas.
27Now therefore, why hast thou not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who maketh himself a prophet to you,
27Agora, portanto, por que você não repreendeu Jeremias de Anatote, que se faz de profeta para vocês,
28forasmuch as he hath sent unto us in Babylon, saying: The captivity is long; build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them?'
28pois ele nos enviou uma mensagem na Babilônia, dizendo: O cativeiro será longo. Construam casas e habitem nelas. Plantem hortas e comam do seu fruto?”’”
29And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
29O sacerdote Sofonias leu esta carta aos ouvidos do profeta Jeremias.
30Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying:
30Então a palavra do SENHOR veio a Jeremias, dizendo:
31Send to all them of the captivity, saying: Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he hath caused you to trust in a lie;
31“Envie uma mensagem a todos os cativos, dizendo: ‘Assim diz o SENHOR a respeito de Semaías, o neelamita: “Porque Semaías profetizou a vocês, e eu não o enviei, e ele fez com que vocês confiassem em uma mentira”,
32therefore thus saith the LORD: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed; he shall not have a man to dwell among this people, neither shall he behold the good that I will do unto My people, saith the LORD; because he hath spoken perversion against the LORD.
32portanto, assim diz o SENHOR: “Eis que punirei Semaías, o neelamita, e a sua descendência. Ele não terá um homem sequer para habitar entre este povo. Ele não verá o bem que farei ao meu povo”, diz o SENHOR, “porque ele pregou rebelião contra o SENHOR.”’”
