1THE WORDS of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
1ΛΟΓΟΙ Ἀμώς, οἳ ἐγένοντο ἐν Ἀκκαρεὶμ ἐκ Θεκουέ, οὓς εἶδεν ὑπὲρ Ἱερουσαλὴμ ἐν ἡμέραις Ὀζίου βασιλέως Ἰούδα καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις Ἱεροβοὰμ τοῦ Ἰωὰς βασιλέως Ἰσραήλ, πρὸ δύο ἐτῶν τοῦ σεισμοῦ.
2And he said: The LORD roareth from Zion, and uttereth His voice from Jerusalem; and the pastures of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
2Καὶ εἶπε· Κύριος ἐκ Σιὼν ἐφθέγξατο καὶ ἐξ Ἱερουσαλὴμ ἔδωκε φωνὴν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπένθησαν αἱ νομαὶ τῶν ποιμένων, καὶ ἐξηράνθη ἡ κορυφὴ τοῦ Καρμήλου.
3For thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Damascus, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because they have threshed Gilead with sledges of iron.
3Καὶ εἶπε Κύριος· ἐπὶ ταῖς τρισὶν ἀσεβείαις Δαμασκοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς τέσσαρσιν οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι αὐτόν, ἀνθ᾿ ὧν ἔπριζον πρίοσι σιδηροῖς τὰς ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσας τῶν ἐν Γαλαάδ·
4So will I send a fire into the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad;
4καὶ ἀποστελῶ πῦρ εἰς τὸν οἶκον Ἀζαήλ, καὶ καταφάγεται τὰ θεμέλια υἱοῦ Ἄδερ·
5And I will break the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from Bikath-Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Beth-eden; and the people of Aram shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.
5καὶ συντρίψω μοχλοὺς Δαμασκοῦ καὶ ἐξολοθρεύσω κατοικοῦντας ἐκ πεδίου Ὦν, καὶ κατακόψω φυλὴν ἐξ ἀνδρῶν Χαρράν, καὶ αἰχμαλωτευθήσεται λαὸς Συρίας ἐπίκλητος, λέγει Κύριος.
6Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Gaza, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because they carried away captive a whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom.
6Τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἐπὶ ταῖς τρισὶν ἀσεβείαις Γάζης καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς τέσσαρσιν οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι αὐτούς, ἕνεκεν τοῦ αἰχμαλωτεῦσαι αὐτοὺς αἰχμαλωσίαν τοῦ Σαλωμὼν τοῦ συγκλεῖσαι εἰς τὴν Ἰδουμαίαν.
7So will I send a fire on the wall of Gaza, and it shall devour the palaces thereof;
7καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ πῦρ ἐπὶ τὰ τείχη Γάζης, καὶ καταφάγεται τὰ θεμέλια αὐτῆς·
8And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon; and I will turn My hand against Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.
8καὶ ἐξολοθρεύσω κατοικοῦντας ἐξ Ἀζώτου, καὶ ἐξαρθήσεται φυλὴ ἐξ Ἀσκάλωνος, καὶ ἐπάξω τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπὶ Ἀκκάρων, καὶ ἀπολοῦνται οἱ κατάλοιποι τῶν ἀλλοφύλων, λέγει Κύριος.
9Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Tyre, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because they delivered up a whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant.
9Τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἐπὶ ταῖς τρισὶν ἀσεβείαις Τύρου καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς τέσσαρσιν οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι αὐτήν, ἀνθ᾿ ὧν συνέκλεισαν αἰχμαλωσίαν τοῦ Σαλωμὼν εἰς τὴν Ἰδουμαίαν καὶ οὐκ ἐμνήσθησαν διαθήκης ἀδελφῶν·
10So will I send a fire on the wall of Tyre, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.
10καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ πῦρ ἐπὶ τὰ τείχη Τύρου, καὶ καταφάγεται τὰ θεμέλια αὐτῆς.
11Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of Edom, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever.
11Τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἐπὶ ταῖς τρισὶν ἀσεβείαις τῆς Ἰδουμαίας καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς τέσσαρσιν οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι αὐτούς, ἕνεκα τοῦ διῶξαι αὐτοὺς ἐν ρομφαίᾳ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐλυμήνατο μητέρα ἐπὶ γῆς καὶ ἥρπασεν εἰς μαρτύριον φρίκην αὐτοῦ καὶ τὸ ὅρμημα αὐτοῦ ἐφύλαξεν εἰς νῖκος.
12So will I send a fire upon Teman, and it shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
12καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ πῦρ εἰς Θαμάν, καὶ καταφάγεται θεμέλια τειχέων αὐτῆς.
13Thus saith the LORD: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, yea, for four, I will not reverse it: because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border.
13Τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἐπὶ ταῖς τρισὶν ἀσεβείαις υἱῶν Ἀμμὼν καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς τέσσαρσιν οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι αὐτόν, ἀνθ᾿ ὧν ἀνέσχιζον τὰς ἐν γαστρὶ ἐχούσας τῶν Γαλααδιτῶν, ὅπως ἐμπλατύνωσι τὰ ὅρια αὐτῶν·
14So will I kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind;
14καὶ ἀνάψω πῦρ ἐπὶ τείχη Ραββάθ, καὶ καταφάγεται θεμέλια αὐτῆς μετὰ κραυγῆς ἐν ἡμέρᾳ πολέμου, καὶ σεισθήσεται ἐν ἡμέραις συντελείας αὐτῆς·
15And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.
15καὶ πορεύσονται οἱ βασιλεῖς αὐτῆς ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ, οἱ ἱερεῖς αὐτῶν καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες αὐτῶ ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό, λέγει Κύριος.
