1And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.
1ΚΑΙ ἐγενήθη ἐν τῷ τεσσαρακοστῷ καὶ τετρακοσιοστῷ ἔτει τῆς ἐξόδου υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ ἐξ Αἰγύπτου, τῷ ἔτει τῷ τετάρτῳ ἐν μηνὶ τῷ δευτέρῳ βασιλεύοντος τοῦ βασιλέως Σαλωμὼν ἐπὶ τὸν Ἰσραήλ, α καὶ ἐνετείλατο ὁ βασιλεὺς ἵνα αἴρωσι λίθους μεγάλους τιμίους εἰς τὸν θεμέλιον τοῦ οἴκου, καὶ λίθους ἀπελεκήτους. β καὶ ἐπελέκησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Σαλωμὼν καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Χιρὰμ καὶ ἔβαλαν αὐτούς. γ ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ τετάρτῳ ἐθεμελίωσε τὸν οἶκον Κυρίου ἐν μηνὶ Νισώ, καὶ τῷ δευτέρῳ μηνὶ δ ἐν ἑνδεκάτῳ ἐνιαυτῷ, ἐν μηνὶ Βαὰλ (οὗτος ὁ μὴν ὁ ὄγδοος) συνετελέσθη ὁ οἶκος εἰς πάντα λόγον αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰς πᾶσαν διάταξιν αὐτοῦ.
2And the house which king Solomon built for the LORD, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits.
2καὶ ὁ οἶκος, ὃν ᾠκοδόμησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τῷ Κυρίῳ, τεσσαράκοντα ἐν πήχει μῆκος αὐτοῦ καὶ εἴκοσιν ἐν πήχει πλάτος αὐτοῦ καὶ πέντε καὶ εἴκοσιν ἐν πήχει τὸ ὕψος αὐτοῦ.
3And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.
3καὶ τὸ αἰλὰμ κατὰ πρόσωπον τοῦ ναοῦ, εἴκοσιν ἐν πήχει μῆκος αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πλάτος τοῦ οἴκου καὶ δέκα ἐν πήχει τὸ πλάτος αὐτοῦ κατὰ πρόσωπον τοῦ οἴκου. καὶ ᾠκοδόμησε τὸν οἶκον καὶ συνετέλεσεν αὐτόν.
4And for the house he made windows broad within, and narrow without.
4καὶ ἐποίησε τῷ οἴκῳ θυρίδας παρακυπτομένας κρυπτάς.
5And against the wall of the house he built a side-structure round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the sanctuary; and he made side-chambers round about;
5καὶ ἔδωκεν ἐπὶ τὸν τοῖχον τοῦ οἴκου μέλαθρα κυκλόθεν τῷ ναῷ καὶ τῷ δαβὶρ καὶ ἐποίησε πλευρὰς κυκλόθεν.
6the nethermost story of the side-structure was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad; for on the outside he made rebatements in the wall of the house round about, that the beams should not have hold in the walls of the house. —
6ἡ πλευρὰ ἡ ὑποκάτω πέντε πήχεων ἐν πήχει τὸ πλάτος αὐτῆς, καὶ τὸ μέσον ἕξ, καὶ ἡ τρίτη ἑπτὰ ἐν πήχει τὸ πλάτος αὐτῆς· ὅτι διάστημα ἔδωκε τῷ οἴκῳ κυκλόθεν ἔξωθεν τοῦ οἴκου, ὅπως μὴ ἐπιλαμβάνωνται τῶν τοίχων τοῦ οἴκου.
7For the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready at the quarry; and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building. —
7καὶ ὁ οἶκος ἐν τῷ οἰκοδομεῖσθαι αὐτὸν λίθοις ἀκροτόμοις ἀργοῖς ᾠκοδομήθη, καὶ σφῦρα καὶ πέλεκυς καὶ πᾶν σκεῦος σιδηροῦν οὐκ ἠκούσθη ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ ἐν τῷ οἰκοδομεῖσθαι αὐτόν.
8The door for the lowest row of chambers was in the right side of the house and they went up by winding stairs into the middle row, and out of the middle into the third.
8καὶ ὁ πυλὼν τῆς πλευρᾶς τῆς ὑποκάτωθεν ὑπὸ τὴν ὠμίαν τοῦ οἴκου τὴν δεξιάν, καὶ ἑλικτὴ ἀνάβασις εἰς τὸ μέσον καὶ ἐκ τῆς μέσης ἐπὶ τὰ τριώροφα,
9So he built the house, and finished it; and he covered in the house with planks of cedar over beams.
9καὶ ᾠκοδόμησε τὸν οἶκον καὶ συνετέλεσεν αὐτόν· καὶ ἐκοιλοστάθμησε τὸν οἶκον κέδροις.
10And he built the stories of the side-structure against all the house, each five cubits high; and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.
10καὶ ᾠκοδόμησε τοὺς ἐνδέσμους δι᾿ ὅλου τοῦ οἴκου πέντε ἐν πήχει τὸ ὕψος αὐτοῦ, καὶ συνέσχε τὸν σύνδεσμον ἐν ξύλοις κεδρίνοις.
11And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying:
11[Καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος Κυρίου πρὸς Σαλωμὼν λέγων·
12'As for this house which thou art building, if thou wilt walk in My statutes, and execute Mine ordinances, and keep all My commandments to walk in them; then will I establish My word with thee, which I spoke unto David thy father;
12ὁ οἶκος οὗτος, ὃν σὺ οἰκοδομεῖς, ἐὰν ὁδεύῃς τοῖς προστάγμασί μου καὶ τὰ κρίματά μου ποιῇς καὶ φυλάσσῃς πάσας τὰς ἐντολάς μου ἀναστρέφεσθαι ἐν αὐταῖς, στήσω τὸν λόγον μου, ὃν ἐλάλησα πρὸς Δαυὶδ τὸν πατέρα σου
13in that I will dwell therein among the children of Israel, and will not forsake My people Israel.'
13καὶ κατασκηνώσω ἐν μέσῳ υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ καὶ οὐκ ἐγκαταλείψω τὸν λαόν μου Ἰσραήλ.
14So Solomon built the house, and finished it.
14καὶ ᾠκοδόμησε Σαλωμὼν τὸν οἶκον καὶ συνετέλεσε αὐτόν.]
15And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house unto the joists of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood; and he covered the floor of the house with boards of cypress.
15καὶ ᾠκοδόμησε τοὺς τοίχους τοῦ οἴκου ἔσωθεν διὰ ξύλων κεδρίνων ἀπὸ τοῦ ἐδάφους τοῦ οἴκου καὶ ἕως τῶν τοίχων καὶ ἕως τῶν δοκῶν· ἐκοιλοστάθμησε συνεχόμενα ξύλοις ἔσωθεν καὶ περιέσχε τὸ ἔσω τοῦ οἴκου ἐν πλευραῖς πευκίναις.
16And he built twenty cubits on the hinder part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor unto the joists; he even built them for himself within, for a Sanctuary, even for the most holy place.
16καὶ ᾠκοδόμησε τοὺς εἴκοσι πήχεις ἀπ᾿ ἄκρου τοῦ τοίχου τὸ πλευρὸν τὸ ἓν ἀπὸ τοῦ ἐδάφους ἕως τῶν δοκῶν, καὶ ἐποίησε ἐκ τοῦ δαβὶρ εἰς τὸ ἅγιον τῶν ἁγίων.
17And the house, that is, the temple before the Sanctuary, was forty cubits long.
17καὶ τεσσαράκοντα πήχεων ἦν ὁ ναὸς [ὁ ἐσώτατος
18And the cedar on the house within was carved with knops and open flowers; all was cedar; there was no stone seen.
18καὶ διὰ κέδρου πρὸς τὸν οἶκον ἔσω πλοκὴν ἐπαναστήσεις καὶ πέταλον καὶ ἀνάγλυφα πάντα κέδρινα οὐκ ἐφαίνετο λίθος.]
19And he prepared the Sanctuary in the midst of the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
19κατὰ πρόσωπον τοῦ δαβὶρ ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ οἴκου ἔσωθεν δοῦναι ἐκεῖ τὴν κιβωτὸν διαθήκης Κυρίου.
20And before the Sanctuary which was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof, overlaid with pure gold, he set an altar, which he covered with cedar.
20εἴκοσι πήχεις μῆκος καὶ εἴκοσι πήχεις πλάτος καὶ εἴκοσι πήχεις τὸ ὕψος αὐτοῦ, καὶ παριέσχεν αὐτὸ χρυσίῳ συγκεκλεισμένῳ. καὶ ἐποίησε θυσιαστήριον [κέδρου
21So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold; and he drew chains of gold across the wall before the Sanctuary; and he overlaid it with gold.
21καὶ περιεπύλωσε Σαλωμὼν τὸν οἶκον ἔνδοθεν χρυσίῳ ἀποκλειστῷ καὶ παρήγαγεν ἐν καθηλώμασι χρυσίου.] κατὰ πρόσωπον τοῦ δαβίρ, καὶ περιέσχεν αὐτὸ χρυσίῳ.
22And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until all the house was finished; also the whole altar that belonged to the Sanctuary he overlaid with gold.
22καὶ ὅλον τὸν οἶκον περιέσχε χρυσίῳ ἕως συντελείας παντὸς τοῦ οἴκου [καὶ ὅλον τὸ ἔσω τοῦ δαβὶρ ἐπετάλωσε χρυσίῳ.]
23And in the Sanctuary he made two cherubim of olive-wood, each ten cubits high.
23καὶ ἐποίησεν ἐν τῷ δαβὶρ δύο Χερουβὶμ δέκα πήχεων μέγεθος ἐσταθμωμένον.
24And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub; from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.
24καὶ πέντε πήχεων πτερύγιον τοῦ Χερουβὶμ τοῦ ἑνὸς καὶ πέντε πήχεων πτερύγιον αὐτοῦ τὸ δεύτερον, ἐν πήχει δέκα ἀπὸ μέρους πτερυγίου αὐτοῦ εἰς μέρος πτερυγίου αὐτοῦ·
25And the other cherub was ten cubits; both the cherubim were of one measure and one form.
25οὕτως τῷ Χερουβὶμ τῷ δευτέρῳ, ἐν μέτρῳ ἑνὶ συντέλεια μία ἀμφοτέροις.
26The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub.
26καὶ τὸ ὕψος τοῦ Χεροὺβ τοῦ ἑνὸς δέκα ἐν πήχει, καὶ οὕτω τῷ Χεροὺβ τῷ δευτέρῳ.
27And he set the cherubim within the inner house; and the wings of the cherubim were stretched forth, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.
27καὶ ἀμφότερα τὰ Χερουβὶμ ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ ἐσωτάτου· καὶ διεπέτασε τὰς πτέρυγας αὐτῶν, καὶ ἥπτετο πτέρυξ μία τοῦ τοίχου, καὶ πτέρυξ Χεροὺβ τοῦ δευτέρου ἥπτετο τοῦ τοίχου τοῦ δευτέρου, καὶ αἱ πτέρυγες αὐτῶν ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ οἴκου ἥπτοντο πτέρυξ πτέρυγος.
28And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.
28καὶ περιέσχε τὰ Χερουβὶμ χρυσίῳ.
29And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, within and without.
29καὶ πάντας τοὺς τοίχους τοῦ οἴκου κύκλῳ ἐγκολαπτὰ ἔγραψε γραφίδι Χερουβίμ, καὶ φοίνικες τῷ ἐσωτέρῳ καὶ τῷ ἐξωτέρῳ.
30And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.
30καὶ τὸ ἔδαφος τοῦ οἴκου περιέσχε χρυσίῳ, τοῦ ἐσωτάτου καὶ τοῦ ἐξωτάτου.
31And for the entrance of the Sanctuary he made doors of olive-wood, the door-posts within the frame having five angles.
31καὶ τῷ θυρώματι τοῦ δαβὶρ ἐποίησε θύρας ξύλων ἀρκευθίνων εἰς φλιὰς πενταπλᾶς
32And as for the two doors of olive-wood, he carved upon them carvings of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold upon the cherubim, and upon the palm-trees.
32καὶ δύο θύρας ξύλων πευκίνων καὶ ἐγκολαπτὸν ἐπ᾿ αὐτῶν ἐγκεκολαμμένα Χερουβὶμ καὶ φοίνικας καὶ πέταλα διαπεπετασμένα· καὶ περιέσχε χρυσίῳ καὶ κατέβαινεν ἐπὶ τὰ Χερουβὶμ καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς φοίνικας τὸ χρυσίον.
33So also made he for the entrance of the temple door-posts of olive-wood, within a frame four-square;
33καὶ οὕτως ἐποίησε τῷ πυλῶνι τοῦ ναοῦ, φλιαὶ ξύλων ἀρκευθίνων, στοαὶ τετραπλῶς.
34and two doors of cypress-wood; the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.
34καὶ ἐν ἀμφοτέραις ταῖς θύραις ξύλα πεύκινα· δύο πτυχαὶ ἡ θύρα ἡ μία καὶ στροφεῖς αὐτῶν, καὶ δύο πτυχαὶ ἡ θύρα ἡ δευτέρα, στρεφόμενα·
35And he carved thereon cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted upon the graven work.
35ἐγκεκολαμμένα Χερουβὶμ καὶ φοίνικες καὶ διαπεπετασμένα πέταλα καὶ περιεχόμενα χρυσίῳ καταγομένῳ ἐπὶ τὴν ἐκτύπωσιν.
36And he built the inner court with three rows of hewn stone, and a row of cedar beams.
36καὶ ᾠκοδόμησε τὴν αὐλὴν τὴν ἐσωτάτην τρεῖς στίχους ἀπελεκήτων, καὶ στίχος κατειργασμένης κέδρου κυκλόθεν. 36α καὶ ᾠκοδόμησε τὸ καταπέτασμα τῆς αὐλῆς τοῦ αἰλὰμ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ κατὰ πρόσωπον τοῦ ναοῦ.
37In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the LORD laid, in the month Ziv.

38And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.
