1METTITI una tromba al palato. Colui viene contro alla Casa del Signore, come un'aquila; perciocchè han trasgredito il mio patto, ed han misfatto contro alla mia Legge.
1Let there be a trumpet in thy throat like an eagle upon the house of the Lord: because they have transgressed my covenant, and have violated my law.
2Israele griderà a me: Tu sei l'Iddio mio, noi ti abbiam conosciuto.
2They shall call upon me: O my God, we, Israel, know thee.
3Israele ha allontanato da sè il bene; il nemico lo perseguirà.
3Israel hath cast off the thing that is good, the enemy shall pursue him.
4Hanno costituiti dei re, non da parte mia; e creati de' principi senza mia saputa; si hanno, del loro argento, e del loro oro, fatti degl'idoli; acciocchè sieno sterminati.
4They have reigned, but not by me: they have been princes, and I knew not: of their silver, and their gold they have made idols to themselves, that they might perish.
5O Samaria, il tuo vitello ti ha scacciata: la mia ira è accesa contro a loro; fino a quando non potranno esser nettati?
5Thy calf, O Samaria, is cast off, my wrath is kindled against them. How long will they be incapable of being cleansed?
6Certo quel vitello è anch'esso d'Israele; un fabbro l'ha fatto, e non è Dio; il vitello di Samaria sarà ridotto in scintille.
6For itself also is the invention of Israel: a workman made it, and it is no god: for the calf of Samaria shall be turned to spiders’ webs.
7Perciocchè han seminato del vento, mieteranno un turbo, non avranno biade; i germogli non faranno farina; se pur ne faranno, gli stranieri la trangugeranno.
7For they shall sow wind, and reap a whirlwind, there is no standing stalk in it, the bud shall yield no meal; and if it should yield, strangers shall eat it.
8Israele è divorato; ora sono fra le nazioni, come un vaso di cui non si fa alcuna stima.
8Israel is swallowed up: now is he become among the nations like an unclean vessel.
9Perciocchè essi sono saliti ad Assur, che è un asino salvatico, che se ne sta in disparte da per sè; Efraim ha dati presenti ad amanti.
9For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath given gifts to his lovers.
10Ora altresì, perciocchè han dati presenti ad amanti fra le genti, io radunerò quegli amanti: e fra poco si dorranno per la gravezza del re de' principi.
10But even though they shall have hired the nations, now will I gather them together: and they shall rest a while from the burden of the king, and the princes.
11Perciocchè Efraim ha moltiplicati gli altari per peccare, egli ha avuti altari da peccare.
11Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin: altars are become to him unto sin.
12Io gli avea scritte le cose grandi della mia Legge; ma sono state reputate come cosa strana.
12I shall write to him my manifold laws, which have been accounted as foreign.
13Quant'è a' sacrificii delle mie offerte, sacrificano della carne, e la mangiano; il Signore non li gradisce; ora si ricorderà egli della loro iniquità, e farà punizione de' lor peccati; essi ritorneranno in Egitto.
13They shall offer victims, they shall sacrifice flesh, and shall eat it, and the Lord will not receive them: now will he remember their iniquity, and will visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.
14Or Israele ha dimenticato il suo Fattore, e ha edificati de' tempii, e Giuda ha fatte molte città forti; ma io manderò fuoco nelle città dell'uno, ed esso consumerà i tempii dell'altro.
14And Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and hath built temples: and Juda hath built many fenced cities: and I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the houses thereof.
