1E HOOKUPU oukou i keiki hipa na ke alii o ka aina, Mai Sela o ka waonahele mai, A i ka mauna o ke kaikamahine a Ziona.
1Send ye the lambs for the ruler of the land from the crags that are toward the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.
2E like me ka manu lele, i kipakuia mai kona punana aku, Pela auanei na kaikamahine o Moaba, Ma na ahua o Arenona.
2For it shall be that, as wandering birds, as a scattered nest, so shall the daughters of Moab be at the fords of Arnon.
3E kuka, e hana i ka mea i pono; E hoohalike i kou aka me ka po iwaena konu o ke ao; E huna i ka poe i kipakuia, Mai kumakaia i ka mea auwana.
3'Give counsel, execute justice; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; betray not the fugitive.
4E ae aku i kuu poe i kipakuia, e Moaba, e noho me oe, I puuhonua hoi oe no lakou, mai ke alo o ka mea luku; No ka mea, e pau auanei ka hookaumaha, A e oki loa hoi ka mea luku, A me ka mea hookaumaha, mai ka aina aku.
4Let mine outcasts dwell with thee; as for Moab, be thou a covert to him from the face of the spoiler.' For the extortion is at an end, spoiling ceaseth, they that trampled down are consumed out of the land;
5Alaila, ma ka pono e hoopaaia'i ka nohoalii, A e noho no kekahi maluna o ia me ka pono, ma ka hale hoi o Davida; He lunakanawai e imi ana i ka pololei, e hooponopono koke ana no hoi.
5And a throne is established through mercy, and there sitteth thereon in truth, in the tent of David, one that judgeth, and seeketh justice, and is ready in righteousness.
6Ua lohe no kakou i ka haaheo o Moaba, ka hookiekie loa: A me kona haakei a me kona hookano a me kona huhu; Aole e holo kona wahahee ana.
6We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud; even of his haughtiness, and his pride, and his arrogancy, his ill-founded boastings.
7Nolaila e uwe ai o ko Moaba, No Moaba e uwe ai na mea a pau; E kaniuhu oukou no Kira Haresa, E kaumaha io no.
7Therefore shall Moab wail for Moab, every one shall wail; for the sweet cakes of Kir-hareseth shall ye mourn, sorely stricken.
8For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah, whose choice plants did overcome the lords of nations; they reached even unto Jazer, they wandered into the wilderness; her branches were spread abroad, they passed over the sea.
9Nolaila, me au i uwe ai no Iazera, Pela no wau e uwe ai no ke kumuwaina o Sibema; E hoopulu aku au ia oe i kuu waimaka, e Hesebona, a me Eleale; No ka mea, ua haule ka hooho kaua maluna o kou kau ai a me kou ohi ai ana.
9Therefore I will weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah; I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh; for upon thy summer fruits and upon thy harvest the battle shout is fallen.
10Ua laweia'ku la ka lealea, a me ka hauoli, Mai ka mahinaai hua nui aku; Aole hooho ma na pawaina, aole hoi he hauoli: Aohe mea hahi waina ma na lua kaomi waina, Ua hooki loa aku au i ka hooho olioli ana.
10And gladness and joy are taken away out of the fruitful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting; no treader shall tread out wine in the presses; I have made the vintage shout to cease.
11Nolaila e kani ai ko'u opu no Moaba, Me he mea kani la, A me ko'u naau hoi, no Kira-Haresa.
11Wherefore my heart moaneth like a harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kir-heres.
12E hiki mai auanei, a e ikeia no, Ka luhi ana o ko Moaba maluna o na wahi kiekie, E hele no oia i kona wahi kapu e nonoi ai, Aole nae e loaa.
12And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab hath wearied himself upon the high place, that he shall come to his sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail
13Oia ka olelo a Iehova i olelo ai no Moaba i ka wa mamua.
13This is the word that the LORD spoke concerning Moab in time past.
14Ke olelo nei o Iehova i keia wa, me ka i ana mai, Ekolu makahiki i koe, E like me na makahiki o ka mea i hoolimalimaia, E hoowahawahaia ka nani o Moaba, A me kona poe lehulehu loa; E uuku auanei ke koena, aole e nui.
14But now the LORD hath spoken, saying: 'Within three years, as the years of a hireling, and the glory of Moab shall wax contemptible for all his great multitude; and the remnant shall be very small and without strength.'
