1L’Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:
1And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2Donne cet ordre aux enfants d’Israël, et dis-leur: Quand vous serez entrés dans le pays de Canaan, ce pays deviendra votre héritage, le pays de Canaan, dont voici les limites.
2Command the children of Israel, and then shalt say to them: When you are entered into the land of Chanaan, and it shall be fallen into your possession by lot, it shall be bounded by these limits:
3Le côté du midi commencera au désert de Tsin près d’Édom. Ainsi, votre limite méridionale partira de l’extrémité de la mer Salée, vers l’orient;
3The south side shall begin from the wilderness of Sin, which is by Edom: and shall have the most salt sea for its furthest limits eastward:
4elle tournera au sud de la montée d’Akrabbim, passera par Tsin, et s’étendra jusqu’au midi de Kadès-Barnéa; elle continuera par Hatsar-Addar, et passera vers Atsmon;
4Which limits shall go round on the south side by the ascent of the Scorpion and so into Senna, and reach toward the south as far as Cadesbarne, from whence the frontiers shall go out to the town called Adar, and shall reach as far as Asemona.
5depuis Atsmon, elle tournera jusqu’au torrent d’Égypte, pour aboutir à la mer.
5And the limits shall fetch a compass from Asemona to the torrent of Egypt, and shall end in the shore of the great sea.
6Votre limite occidentale sera la grande mer: ce sera votre limite à l’occident.
6And the west side shall begin from the great sea, and the same shall be the end thereof.
7Voici quelle sera votre limite septentrionale: à partir de la grande mer, vous la tracerez jusqu’à la montagne de Hor;
7But toward the north side the borders shall begin from the great sea, reaching to the most high mountain,
8depuis la montagne de Hor, vous la ferez passer par Hamath, et arriver à Tsedad;
8From which they shall come to Emath, as far as the borders of Sedada:
9elle continuera par Ziphron, pour aboutir à Hatsar-Énan: ce sera votre limite au septentrion.
9And the limits shall go as far as Zephrona, and the village of Enan. These shall be the borders on the north side.
10Vous tracerez votre limite orientale de Hatsar-Énan à Schepham;
10From thence they shall mark out the bounds towards the east side from the village of Enan unto Sephama.
11elle descendra de Schepham vers Ribla, à l’orient d’Aïn; elle descendra, et s’étendra le long de la mer de Kinnéreth, à l’orient;
11And from Sephama the bounds shall go down to Rebla over against the fountain of Daphnis: from thence they shall come eastward to the sea of Cenereth,
12elle descendra encore vers le Jourdain, pour aboutir à la mer Salée. Tel sera votre pays avec ses limites tout autour.
12And shall reach as far as the Jordan, and at the last shall be closed in by the most salt sea. This shall be your land with its borders round about.
13Moïse transmit cet ordre aux enfants d’Israël, et dit: C’est là le pays que vous partagerez par le sort, et que l’Éternel a résolu de donner aux neuf tribus et à la demi-tribu.
13And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying: This shall be the land which you shall possess by lot, and which the Lord hath commanded to be given to the nine tribes, and to the half tribe.
14Car la tribu des fils de Ruben et la tribu des fils de Gad ont pris leur héritage, selon les maisons de leurs pères; la demi-tribu de Manassé a aussi pris son héritage.
14For the tribe of the children of Ruben by their families, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the number of their kindreds, and half of the tribe of Manasses,
15Ces deux tribus et la demi-tribu ont pris leur héritage en deçà du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho, du côté de l’orient.
15That is, two tribes and a half, have received their portion beyond the Jordan over against Jericho at the east side.
16L’Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:
16And the Lord said to Moses:
17Voici les noms des hommes qui partageront entre vous le pays: le sacrificateur Éléazar, et Josué, fils de Nun.
17These are the names of the men, that shall divide the land unto you: Eleazar the priest, and Josue the son of Nun,
18Vous prendrez encore un prince de chaque tribu, pour faire le partage du pays.
18And one prince of every tribe,
19Voici les noms de ces hommes. Pour la tribu de Juda: Caleb, fils de Jephunné;
19Whose names are these: Of the tribe of Juda, Caleb the son of Jephone.
20pour la tribu des fils de Siméon: Samuel, fils d’Ammihud;
20Of the tribe of Simeon, Samuel the son of Ammiud.
21pour la tribu de Benjamin: Élidad, fils de Kislon;
21Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chaselon.
22pour la tribu des fils de Dan: le prince Buki, fils de Jogli;
22Of the tribe of the children of Dan, Bocci the son of Jogli.
23pour les fils de Joseph, pour la tribu des fils de Manassé: le prince Hanniel, fils d’Éphod;
23Of the children of Joseph of the tribe of Manasses, Hanniel the son of Ephod.
24et pour la tribu des fils d’Éphraïm: le prince Kemuel, fils de Schiphtan;
24Of the tribe of Ephraim, Camuel the son of Sephtan.
25pour la tribu des fils de Zabulon: le prince Élitsaphan, fils de Parnac;
25Of the tribe of Zabulon, Elisaphan the son of Pharnach.
26pour la tribu des fils d’Issacar: le prince Paltiel, fils d’Azzan;
26Of the tribe of Issachar, Phaltiel the prince, the son of Ozan.
27pour la tribu des fils d’Aser: le prince Ahihud, fils de Schelomi;
27Of the tribe of Aser, Ahiud the son of Salomi.
28pour la tribu des fils de Nephthali: le prince Pedahel, fils d’Ammihud.
28Of the tribe of Nephtali: Phedael the son of Ammiud.
29Tels sont ceux à qui l’Éternel ordonna de partager le pays de Canaan entre les enfants d’Israël.
29These are they whom the Lord hath commanded to divide the land of Chanaan to the children of Israel.
