1Therefore ought we more diligently to observe the things which we have heard, lest perhaps we should let them slip.
1Kwa sababu hiyo tunapaswa kuzingatia kwa makini zaidi yote tuliyosikia, ili tusije tukapotoshwa.
2For if the word, spoken by angels, became steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward:
2Ujumbe ule waliopewa wazee wetu na malaika ulionyeshwa kuwa kweli, hata mtu yeyote ambaye hakuufuata au hakuutii aliadhibiwa kama alivyostahili.
3How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation? which having begun to be declared by the Lord, was confirmed unto us by them that heard him.
3Basi, sisi tutaokokaje kama hatuujali wokovu mkuu kama huu? Kwanza Bwana mwenyewe aliutangaza wokovu huu, na wale waliomsikia walituthibitishia kwamba ni kweli.
4God also bearing them witness by signs, and wonders, and divers miracles, and distributions of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will.
4Mungu pia aliongeza hapo ushahidi wake kwa kufanya kila namna ya miujiza na maajabu, na kwa kuwagawia watu vipaji vya Roho Mtakatifu kadiri ya mapenzi yake.
5For God hath not subjected unto angels the world to come, whereof we speak.
5Mungu hakuwaweka malaika wautawale ulimwengu ujao, yaani ulimwengu ule tunaoongea habari zake.
6But one in a certain place hath testified, saying: What is man, that thou art mindful of him: or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
6Tena yasemwa mahali fulani katika Maandiko: “Mtu ni nini ee Mungu, hata umfikirie; mwanaadamu ni nini hata umjali?
7Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels: thou hast crowned him with glory and honour, and hast set him over the works of thy hands:
7Ulimfanya kwa kitambo kidogo kuwa chini zaidi kuliko malaika; ukamvika taji ya utukufu na heshima,
8Thou hast subjected all things under his feet. For in that he hath subjected all things to him, he left nothing not subject to him. But now we see not as yet all things subject to him.
8ukaweka kila kitu chini ya miguu yake, avitawale.” Yasemwa kwamba Mungu alimweka mtu kuwa mtawala wa vitu vyote yaani bila kuacha hata kimoja. Hata hivyo, hatuoni bado mtu akivitawala vitu vyote sasa.
9But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour: that, through the grace of God, he might taste death for all.
9Lakini twamwona Yesu ambaye alifanywa kwa kitambo kidogo kuwa chini zaidi kuliko malaika, ili kwa neema ya Mungu afe kwa ajili ya watu wote. Sasa tunamwona ametawazwa kwa utukufu na heshima kwa sababu ya kifo alichoteseka.
10For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, who had brought many children into glory, to perfect the author of their salvation, by his passion.
10Ilikuwa haki tupu kwamba Mungu, ambaye huumba na kutegemeza vitu vyote, alimfanya Yesu kuwa mkamilifu kabisa kwa njia ya mateso, ili awalete watoto wengi waushiriki utukufu wake. Maana Yesu ndiye anayewaongoza kwenye wokovu.
11For both he that sanctifieth, and they who are sanctified, are all of one. For which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying:
11Yeye anawatakasa watu dhambi zao, naye pamoja na wale waliotakaswa, wote wanaye Baba mmoja. Ndiyo maana Yesu haoni aibu kuwaita hao ndugu zake;
12I will declare thy name to my brethren; in the midst of the church will I praise thee.
12kama asemavyo: “Ee Mungu, nitawatangazia ndugu zangu matendo yako. Nitakusifu katika kusanyiko lao.”
13And again: I will put my trust in him. And again: Behold I and my children, whom God hath given me.
13Tena asema: “Nitamwekea Mungu tumaini langu.” Na tena: “Mimi niko hapa pamoja na watoto alionipa Mungu.”
14Therefore because the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner hath been partaker of the same: that, through death, he might destroy him who had the empire of death, that is to say, the devil:
14Basi, kwa vile watoto hao, kama awaitavyo, ni watu wenye mwili na damu, Yesu mwenyewe akawa kama wao na kushiriki ubinadamu wao. Alifanya hivyo ili kwa njia ya kifo chake amwangamize Ibilisi, ambaye ana mamlaka juu ya kifo,
15And might deliver them, who through the fear of death were all their lifetime subject to servitude.
15na hivyo awaokoe wale waliokuwa watumwa maisha yao yote kwa sababu ya hofu yao ya kifo.
16For no where doth he take hold of the angels: but of the seed of Abraham he taketh hold.
16Maana ni wazi kwamba yeye hakuja kwa ajili ya kuwasaidia malaika, bali kama yasemavyo Maandiko; “Anawasaidia wazawa wa Abrahamu.”
17Wherefore it behoved him in all things to be made like unto his brethren, that he might become a merciful and faithful priest before God, that he might be a propitiation for the sins of the people.
17Ndiyo maana ilimbidi awe kama ndugu zake kwa kila namna, ili awe Kuhani Mkuu wao aliye mwaminifu na mwenye huruma katika kumtumikia Mungu, ili dhambi za watu ziondolewe.
18For in that, wherein he himself hath suffered and been tempted, he is able to succour them also that are tempted.
18Na, anaweza sasa kuwasaidia wale wanaojaribiwa na kuteswa.
